Suffering from 'Cinderellaism' & New Shoes

As mentioned in the teaser from my last blog I have recently purchased a couple of pairs of shoes which I think I'm going to live in this spring & summer.

Now, before I show you the shoes I would like to share a problem I seem to have with heels. Don't get me wrong I love high heels not to mention the added advantage that they make your legs look longer & slimmer (total bonus points in my opinion) but they do crush & bruise your toes. Although to be fair this could just be me, as generally I seem to find myself between sizes that neither a heel grip, inner sole or when feeling particularly desperate both used together can fix. Leaving me with the dilemma of either going down a size so feet feel "snug" & within 30 minutes of wearing all circulation been cut off with toes numb from pain having been crushed into said shoe (think Ugly Sisters from Cinderella). Or sizing up & having the comfort of being able to feel feet & wriggle toes but the problem of not been able to keep said feet in the shoes as I walk. Thus resulting in me gripping hubby's arm for fear of falling over, whilst shuffling feet without lifting too high from the ground so heel remains in place. The end result being me looking a cross between a little girl trying to walk in her mother's shoes & a cross dresser wearing heels for the first time! I'm guessing you've got the picture!!!

However, what I don't get & if anyone knows the answer I would love to know, is how celebrities keep their shoes on because generally whenever you look at pictures of them on the red carpet they are wearing shoes which have a huge gap at the back & you never see their heel slip out or in more severe cases (that I have experienced) step right out of their shoe! Which I can vouch for is HIGHLY embarrassing, especially when left behind on a zebra crossing when cars on both sides have stopped & you have to go back & retrieve said shoe!!!

I have even brought a pair of shoe stretchers off the internet & whilst they do stretch the shoe slightly it's not enough to stop the sheer pain of sizing down so that the shoes stay on my feet!

After googling the matter I have found only two solutions, one to wear Mary-Jane style heels, which I can't say I'm a fan of or two toupee tape. Now I have recently acquired some toupee tape off eBay which I plan on giving a go & will report back at a later date but in the meantime I would love to know if anyone else has the same problem & more importantly a solution!!!

Now onto my two new shoe purchases. The first pair are exactly what I was hoping to find for the summer, which in itself is a miracle. Usually when I have a picture in mind of a particular item I would like to source I can either find the style but not the colour or fabric I was looking for or the colour & fabric but not the style. Anyway this time the Shoe Fairy was looking down on me & I have found my perfect sandal for summer.

Now I appreciate these sandals may not be everyone's cup of tea but for a leopard print lover who as she picks up the pace of heading towards the big Four-O & seems to be developing a love of studs these are puuuurfect!

In my opinion I will be able to wear these sandals with most things, skinny trousers/jeans, Capri pants, maxi skirts/dresses & even shorts/shorter skirts & dresses which means then when in hotter climates (I'm thinking on holiday but here's hoping maybe even in the UK) when feet start to swell up or because I want to dress up and haven't found the cure to my 'Cinderella' shoe problem these will fit the bill.

Moving onto my second pair of shoes, which can be described as a more 'sensible' option these are a pair I hope to be able to wear during the spring when dashing about & without the need to cling on to anything in order to stay upright! Whilst not as rock chick as my first pair, I don't think you can beat a tan coloured shoe which seems to go with most colours not to mention my new bag. Together with having the added advantage of having a small wedge heel which I'm hoping will elongate my legs but be stable enough to keep me upright as I also seem to have developed a habit for falling over (without a sip of alcohol passing my lips, I might add).

Having brought Next shoes before I have noticed that you need to size down a size but for some reason these feel a little tighter than normal & the size up have decided they're not staying on my heels for love or money. So as the upper & inner part of the shoe are leather I'm crossing everything & hoping the shoe stretchers do the job.

Finally here's a few pictures of what I wore yesterday & today & as the sun has been shining I even managed to wear a couple of my beloved jackets & ditch the winter coat.

Outfit One

Jacket - Zara
Scarf - Zara
Jumper - GAP
Khaki Jeans - Zara
Boots - Zara

Outfit Two

Jacket - Zara
Scarf - Massimo Dutti
Sweatshirt - Zara
Jeans - Massimo Dutti
Boots - Zara

So there we have it my two new pairs of shoes. What shoes are you planning on living in this spring & summer? Do you have the same problem as me & can't keep your heel in high heels? Can you be my Fairy Godmother & change my life forever with how I can overcome this problem? I'd love to hear your thoughts. x

  1. Gorgeous outfits again. I have a very similar white jacket from Zara. I will be really interested to hear how you solve the shoe problem. I'm exactly the same - I can't keep my feet in high heel shoes, regardless of whether I size down, put inserts in, etc. I had thought it was caused by the fact that I'm out of practice or perhaps psoriasis on my feet .. glad to hear I'm not the only one. I've resorted to only wearing boots or shoeboots. At least they'll stay on!

  3. I love the Zara sandals but I have chunky legs so I can't wear an ankle strap.
The only problem I have is with a sandal with a toe bar, I have a long foot and short toes!!!! So I always need a bigger size otherwise my foot over hangs the back.

    1. It's sooo frustrating trying to find shoes that fit properly, think we could do with an adult version of Clarks where you get your feet measured and fitted to the correct size and width lol!!!!

  4. I thought I was the only person in the world you struggled with heels falling off me or crippling me! I too had marveled at pics of celebs and wondered how on earth they kept their shoes on, especially Victoria Beckham whose shoes look 2 sizes too big! Please keep up posted on your findings.
