Channelling My Inner Bet!

Okay I admit it, I'm a little (more like TOTALLY) obsessed with most things leopard print - although I have so far failed in my attempts to persuade hubby that swapping to leopard print bedsheets would be a good idea, although I hasten to add not of the porn style silk variety!!!

So in honour of my obsession & no doubt phase one of my midlife crisis I thought I'd write a post on some of the lovely leopard print clothing that is available this season.

Now I couldn't write a blog on leopard print without of course mentioning the brilliant Bet, or for those non Coronation Street fans the wonderful character Bet Lynch of the Rovers Return who was famous for her love of all things leopard print too!

Now you may be relieved to know that I don't wear head to toe leopard print nor do I own a leopard print coat - although that's not to say I'm not seriously tempted but am always put off by the rolling of eyes from hubby & son.  Although that said I think the right leopard print jacket or coat can look stunning worn with plain black underneath - am I convincing anyone here or is it just me?!!!

I also don't wear large earrings or possess that many items of clothing in leopard print (apart from a jumper, some casual summer trousers, a summer dress and a new maxi skirt) but hey only four items so far, so perhaps not a full on crisis yet!

What I do possess however, is a lot of different leopard print/animal print scarves in a variety of colours together with a couple of leopard print bags, shoes, pumps and boots oh and of course bangle - underwear doesn't count right?!!!!

For someone that doesn't wear patterns that often (apart from leopard print of course!) I love how a plain simple outfit can be transformed with the addition of some leopard print, whether it be a black shirt & jeans worn with a leopard print scarf or a white shirt & blue jeans with my leopard print ballets for me it just adds that something else.

So here's a few things that have caught my eye recently of the leopard print variety:

Now I think this would look gorgeous with a tan and for £14.99 & can feel my inner strength at having not already ordered this waivering.  In fact in an attempt to justify ordering said dress I have just googled for any discount codes & have found this one '0241' for 25% off highest priced item so have now SERIOUSLY got twitchy fingers!!!

Another love are these animal print scarves from Massimo Dutti, which I brought a couple of months ago & have in both colours.  You can see me wearing the grey one in one of my recent outfits shown on my previous blog.

Now I know these are quite a bit more than a lot of scarves out there but they really are a gorgeous quality & as an animal print lover I know I'm going to be wearing these loads, in fact all year round because let's face it the amount of days we get where it's simply too hot to wear a scarf are far & few between!

Now moving onto footwear these have also recently caught my animal print trained eye!

As I've mentioned earlier I love my leopard print shoes as they really do just add that something else to an outfit & these ballerinas from Next are gorgeous.  I love the classic styling & especially love that they're printed onto pony skin as in my opinion it just looks that much more classic when printed onto this as opposed to a flat leather.

I'm also loving these hi tops from Next & whilst I haven't yet purchased a pair of hi tops (see I do have a little bit of restraint!) these could definitely look stunning.

I'm also loving these trousers by Julien MacDonald at Debenhams.  I think these would look great either dressed up with court shoes as shown on the model or flat sandals.  In fact I'm planning on wearing my leopard print trousers with flats & the Zara draped top I've previously blogged about.

Finishing with this top from Zara, I love the loose fit of this & think it would look great with some strappy flat sandals & loose fit jeans for a dressed down look.

So are you an animal print lover or do you detest it & instantly see Bet?  I'd love to hear your thoughts.

  1. I confess to ordering a pair of PJ style leopard print trews in the River Island Sale today & thought that if they were total Marmite then I would just wear them in the house! I did think of you when ordering! Lol! I have to wait another 3 weeks for them though as a family member is coming for a visit & will bring them along! I shall report back when they arrive! ;) Andrea x

    1. Andrea you must definitely let me know what you think & I look forward to seeing how you style them.

I thought the same with my trousers, in that I could always just wear them in the house but have to admit looking forward to wearing them when the weather heats up x

  4. Have I missed some posts? Have you been away? You are looking suspiciously tanned for the weather we have been having...was it an Easter sojourn in the Caribbean?!

  5. .....and the Bet lynch thing with leopard, it's width isn't it? She is like me, broad shoulders and back and biggish boobs, that inverse triangle makes any print repeat just look so MORE, someone petite would look fab even if they went the whole hog!

    1. I think it depends on what you team the leopard print with that makes a difference too. If you've got a dress in it then I think best to keep accessories, jackets etc to something nice & simple x

  10. My goodness, are you me???

I, having reached a certain point of maturity in my life, have recently become attracted to leopard print too! I've just stumbled across this whilst looking for images of Bet Lynch for a friend, but wow, this is great :)

My first foray into leopard-ness was a few weeks ago, when my 18 yr old was throwing out a hardly-worn leopard hoodie. In fact, "hoodie" does it no justice, I must photograph it later.

I rescued it, much to her horror. Now I have some ballet pumps too, that I saw in the K-Mart sale at a measly $4 - I mean, you wouldn't leave them at that price, would you?

But I just checked out your photos & saw the hi-tops! I am now in lust & am scouring the net to find some here, otherwise it will have to be mail order!

Aaah - your blog is now my new "happy place" - sigh :)
