Stealing Gwyneth's Style!

So confession time, I'm a glorified magpie who likes nothing more than looking at all the lovely bright & shiny clothing & accessories worn by celebrities.  In fact my brain can ache at times from the constant mental notes & ideas that can be found buzzing round filling the huge void between my ears!

Now unless it's my lucky day (& who knows it has to be someone's) & I win the lottery tonight (although from a mathematical point of view the probability is so small I probably wouldn't fit all the zeros on one line or in layman's terms not a hope in hell) I won't be having my Julia Roberts moment from Pretty Woman - boy would I love to utter the words 'huge mistake' to some of the less than helpful assistants out there.  So I'm left with trying to create & source these designer looks from the good old fashioned high street, which let's face it can be quite fun!

Sometimes you can see a celeb & see an item that you have similar to them in your wardrobe & it can give you a new idea of how to wear it or what to team it with.  Other times you can see an item & think I just have to find something similar to that & hit the shops in search of said item, which I must point out is of course a past time that I very rarely do! *coughing fit*

So for today's blog I thought I would take a picture of an outfit of a celeb that caught my eye this week & show you how to create a similar look using items from said high street!

So here's the outfit worn my Gwyneth Paltrow when she was jet setting earlier in the week.  As you can tell from the lack of information here I didn't read the article so can't provide details on where she was flying to or indeed which airport she was at as I was just looking at the pretty pictures!

I really love this outfit, I love the casual styling but also think the colours work so well together although I personally may have teamed it with a light brown/faded looking boot as opposed to the black ones worn by Gwynnie (to her friends:)i) but hey who am I to criticise Ms Paltrow &/or her stylist!

So starting with a shop I very rarely step foot in *more coughing* here's what I found in Zara.

Now I'm not sure if it's just wishful thinking on my part but this looks identical to the worn by Gwyneth.  I absolutely love the soft shade of khaki, which will go with a whole load of different colours & lets face it although they're forecasting higher temperatures for the weekend there's bound to be plenty of April showers ahead & not only in the month of April so it's a great alternative to a classic mac.

Next the white shirt, of which there are lots similar to this around but I quite liked the detail on the one I've shown below from Marks as it just adds something else to the outfit to stop it looking too plain.

Next turning to the jeans, now there are countless skinny blue jeans around but I have somehow found myself back on the Zara site (must be the goblin in my mouse again!) & I really love the colour of these & for £19.99 what's not to like!

Now turning to the accessories, firstly the bag, again from Zara (I must deal with that goblin lol!)

Then the necklaces.

Finishing with the boots.

So that's my take on Gwyneth's look on what's currently available on the high street, what do you think?  I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Finally here's what I've been wearing the last couple of days.

So are you like me & always looking at celebs to see what they're wearing & how they've put an outfit together?  Do you ever stop someone in the street & ask them where they got something they're wearing from?  I'd love to hear where you get your inspiration & if you fancy taking inspiration from normal everyday ladies then take a look at this website Avenue 57, it's a great place to share your outfits, take inspiration from others & just get to know other women who love to shop!

I'll be back in a couple of days but until then let's hope they're right about the weather! x

  1. Wow! Great re-creation of her outfit .. love the M&S shirt (now who ever thought I'd be heard to utter those words!) And the bag is gorgeous (cos I'd need another one like a hole in the head!) Yep - I'm like you .. utterly obsessed with what other people wear and wondering how I can recreate the look! But it's fun, isn't it (sad attempt at justification lol!)
