Taking The Plunge

As you may know I'm a regular uploader onto several outfit sharing sites & having recently been approached by Stylight to take a look at their site & post a review on my findings, I was curious to see how it differed from the other sites I upload to.

Of course a few months ago if you'd have told me I would be posting daily pictures of my outfits on such sites let alone writing a blog I'd of told you that there was about as much chance as pigs flying.  So what can I say pigs must have wings as I'm not only doing both but TOTALLY loving the experience!

So what is Stylight & what makes it different from the other outfit sharing sites out there?  Well quite simply it's a fashion lovers dream.  Not only can you post your daily looks you can also create collages incorporating photos, videos, quotes, music & products, in effect your own virtual scrapbook that members can view & get to 'heart' (vote) & follow.  Together with of course being able to vote & follow others whose style you might aspire to.  And let's face it seeing how others put together an outfit can be inspirational for all of us, as often you will see something you love but not necessarily have thought about wearing & may even find you have similar items in your wardrobe to recreate the look from.

As well as being a great place to steal other people's style, they have a great magazine section, which allows you to keep up to date on fashion trends & contains articles from popular fashion bloggers showing you how to style the latest looks of the season.

And if that wasn't enough Stylight also features shops on it's website which contain over 5,000 fashion brands & millions of products meaning not only can you post, you can also shop all in the same site....talk about heaven for us fashion lovers/shopaholics....I mean seriously this site should come with a credit card warning as it is SERIOUSLY lethal for your bank balance!!!

It's also extremely easy to join & pretty straight forward to use - set up only takes a few minutes & after that well there'll be no stopping you.....you'll just need to clear at least a whole day in your diary so you can experiment, explore & have fun after enrolling.

Of course you may well already have considered joining such a site in the past but have been put off by various concerns.  I must admit before I took the plunge to upload to such sites I was worried about the reaction I would get, with one of my main areas of concern being the worry that I may face a whole host of abuse & negativity, with people wondering who & what I thought I was.  But I can honestly say since joining I have found some great daily inspiration not to mention made some lovely new friends along the way too.  I really can't recommend joining enough & now find myself in the position of adding Stylight to my daily list of sites to post to.  All I need now is some serious me time with a completed to do list (nothing that a Fairy Godmother couldn't fix!) so that I can start recreating some collages.

So while I'm day dreaming of a cleared to do list here's a round up of what I've been wearing these last few days & if you fancy following me on Stylight then click here to see my profile.

As always let me know you thoughts & if you're worried about joining one of these communities seriously give it a go it's great fun, totally makes your day when you get lovely feedback & just think of all the lovely & amazing women you're missing out on in your life.....SERIOUSLY there's some great friends to be made.

Stealing Myleene's Style With a Little Bit of Khaki & Sequins

Okay so I've made no secret of my love of all things sparkly, so it's no surprise that when I recently saw Myleene Klass rocking this outfit, my jaw dropped to the floor & I knew in a heartbeat that I had fallen head over heels in love with the jacket.

I mean seriously what's not to love.....an easy to wear throw on khaki jacket that has sequinned (yes that's right SEQUINNED!!!) sleeves & will be so easy to dress up or down. Of course I instantly thought stunning jacket but worried that a) I'd be clocking up the internet miles trying to source said jacket & b) once I've discovered said jacket I'll need to sell a kidney to purchase it!!!

So enough waffling & gabbling lets show you the picture of Myleene in her GOOOORGEOUS jacket.

Now first up you'll be pleased to here whilst I totally want to steal this style, I'm not talking about stealing her facial expression.  Not the most flattering picture of Myleene it has to be said but that doesn't distract from those stunning, shinny sleeves & who hasn't had the odd unflattering picture taken plus it's not often you see a bad picture of the stunning Miss Klass.

So starting with the jacket......here's the good news (did I say good, I mean GREAT news)....I've tracked said jacket (or one very similar at least) down & here's for the even better news.......it's not going to break the bank!  Hurrah....oh yes, my precious will be mine :-)

Right so the best match to Myleene's jacket that I've found is this stunning little number from Primark.

Now if my experiences of Primark are anything to go by, I see these amazing pieces in the press & immediately hot foot it to my nearest store (which is a bit of a trek it has to be said) only to find that despite looking high & low I can't find said item......meaning either everyone else has had the same idea or you have to be incredibly lucky to find that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!!

But fear not dear fellow sequin lovers you don't need to even move from the comfort of your sofa to be able to get your hands on this little beauty as it's stocked by ASOS, so no car chases & screeching of brakes to your nearest Primark are involved...... a total result!

Right so that's the jacket sorted now moving onto the rest of the outfit.  Now most of us have got either some black jeans or trousers lurking in our wardrobes not to mention a black top but after wiping my drool off the screen & taking a further look at Myleene's outfit I actually think she's teamed it with grey trousers and top.  So here's my pick of similar items currently available on the high street to team with said jacket.

Starting with this grey v-neck t-shirt from gap.  I absolutely love this shade of grey and the fact that it's a v-neck t-shirt it so much more flattering then a round neck plus should you wish to team with a bit of bling the perfect neckline to show it off.

Or if you fancy a darker shade of grey this simple scoop neck t-shirt from Zara would look equally stunning.

And it's also available in a lovely soft grey tone as well.

Then turning to the trousers I really like these loose fitting cropped trousers from Zara, which would be the perfect style & shape for a laid back weekend kind of vibe.

Or for something a little bit more dressed down then I'm TOTALLY loving these sweatpants from H&M, which on zooming in on the picture look as if they're trousers in a 'sweatpant' style as opposed to trackie bums.

Finally shoes, now I'm not a huge fan of the 'T' bar style shoe, which I put down to wearing a flat version for school many, many years ago.  So instead I would pair the outfit with a heel but in a different style & I'm totally loving these stunning snake effect shoes from Next.  They really ooze style plus for those of us who have problems keeping our heels in our shoes this style should be fool proof!

So there you have it my interpretation of Myleene's style....how did I do?!

Now stepping away from the bling & finishing with a quick round up of what I've recently been wearing & starting with my new Next Tulle Skirt, which I'm looking forward to styling up & down in the coming months...I'm thinking skull t-shirt, boots & quilted bomber jacket for starters!

So what do you think?  Are you loving this latest look from Myleene or do you think my latest sequin obsession has gone that step too far?!!!  Perhaps you'd already spotted said jacket in Primark & snapped it up quickly or laughed at it wondering what fool would be buying it?  Maybe you've seen something even better whilst checking out the new seasons offerings in the shops.  As always I'd love to hear your thoughts & if you've seen something you think I should know about PLEASE let me know.

Have a great bank holiday weekend....hubby is finally home after what seems like a lifetime (week) away & I have to make the most of him as he's off in a week's time for another week :-(  Hey ho....I'll just have to content myself with the thought of duty free & perhaps a few cheeky mid week visits from the other man in my life.....Mr DPD!!!!

See you in a few days x

A Pop of Colour

Having recently received a comment from a very lovely lady that I wore some great bright colours & the suggestion that I write a blog on how to incorporate colours into our wardrobes for those of us that shy away from bold colours, I'm writing today's post on exactly that!

Now I have to admit I was quite surprised by her comment because I think the injection of colour is probably one of those things that has started to happen without me really realising it, & yes having now taken time to think about it & look in said wardrobe there are quite a few different colours in there.  Although admittedly the injection of colour predominantly comes from accessories & tops in some shape or form as I, like many of us tend to live in my jeans.  Although having said that I do own a couple of crazy coloured ones & some patterned trousers too (which I think is down to my subconscious screaming at me to go for it before I get too old!!!) but on the whole apart from summer dresses my bottom half in general is subdued (well apart from the odd bit of leopard print ;-) ).

Various colours hold various memories for lots of us (school uniform for example...anyone no longer wear bottle green?!!) & whilst I've never been colour coded, as me being me, would feel that I had to always adhere to the rules & would dread being told that half the colours in my wardrobe didn't suit me & had to go.....although thinking about it this could be a great reason *coughs excuse* for a serious shopping trip (note to hubby if you're reading this while safely in America I PROMISE I'm being good......honest!!!!).  But I guess over the years you get a feel for what colours you can & can't wear because generally as soon as you hold a garment up by your face you know whether the colour drains you or not, let alone makes you feel good.

In my opinion the best way of incorporating colour (& pattern for that matter) into your wardrobe, especially if it's a colour you're not used to wearing is through accessories because not only does it mean it's generally a cheap option (although granted this can depend on where you shop for your accessories, obviously I'm not talking designer when I say that!!) it also means as trends change it's easy to update your wardrobe.

One of the easiest ways of adding a splash of colour to any outfit is with a scarf of which, I admit I have a fair few!!  So having taken a gander on the high street these babies hit my eye for adding that splash of colour & you won't be surprised by the reoccurring theme (what can I say I had my 'Bet' hat on!).

Starting with this gorgeous abstract scarf from Topshop.  I'm totally loving all things yellow at the moment as it just seems to go with everything - black, grey, navy, white & in my opinion this scarf is just perfect for teaming with jeans, a casual white t-shirt & a great blazer.

Also stunning in the red too!

I also love both the royal blue & red scarves from New Look which again would go with blue, grey, black or white jeans & would really add that splash of colour to an outfit.  The red one would also look fab with a great pair of camel casual chinos.

Of course at the moment we seem to be on the receiving end of some more great weather (hurrah.....time to top up the tans girls!) so wearing a scarf is probably the last thing on your mind but another great way of adding some colour (which does wonders for really bringing a plain outfit to life) is by way of a stunning statement necklace & there are of course some great ones out there from a variety of high street stores but the ones below really caught my magpie eye.

So first up, I'm totally in love with this turquoise number from Topshop.  I think turquoise always looks so stunning when worn in the summer with white & a great tan but equally it can look really elegant in winter too when teamed with either black or grey.

This next necklace from Banana Republic is a real statement piece & I am head over in heels in love with it, so will definitely be putting it on my wish list & if a great discount code happens to pop into my inbox well.....I'm sure you've got the picture ;-)

For something a little less grand I'm also loving this red graphic stone one also from Banana Republic, which I think would look simply stunning teamed with a classic white shirt & of course being red a great statement piece to wear over the festive season (sorry far too early to mention the 'C' word I know!!).

Moving away from jewellery & another fab way of incorporating colour is through adding a bright pair of heels &/or clutch to your outfit.  As you know I'm pretty useless in high heels but I am totally loving the mid heel court shoes around right now as armed with my toupee tape I can now not only manage to walk in said shoes but keep them on my heels too!

This first pair of shoes from Topshop are a great autumnal shade which are still bright enough to add an injection of colour & could look stunning worn with black, navy or grey.

I'm also loving these mid court shoes from Zara & to be honest love both colours equally, so choosing between the two would be difficult & both would definitely add that wow factor to your outfit.

Turning next to bags & I have to admit I've become quite partial to a clutch of late as I just feel that little bit more elegant when going out & using one instead of a large great big tote that's either going to take all the room up under the table or send the waiter/ress flying!!!

First up is this one from Topshop.   I really like the padlock detail & think the gold looks simply stunning against the red of the bag.

Of course Boden also do a great style clutch in a wide variety of colours, with my favourite shades being shown below (you may also be interested to know it also comes in black, navy & leopard print, which you won't be surprised to hear is totally LUSH!)).

Now as I mentioned earlier I've got a bit of thing going on for yellow at the moment (I'm thinking more of a mustard shade than a sun shade for autumn) & this clutch from Zara could quite easily slip into my shopping basket!

Moving away from accessories & of course a great way of wearing colour is by throwing on a bright coloured top, which if the rest of your outfit is quite plain & classic can look simply stunning.  This red long sleeved top from Next looks fab & I love the longer length it has at the back. I think it would be one of those tops that like the white Zara one I brought whilst on holiday would be great to just throw on & not need too much styling.

Of course I've recently discovered a love of camis & this one from ASOS is in the most stunning shade of red (perfect for party season!).

Moving away from red & onto royal blue & this blouse from Zara would also add a great injection of colour (& would look fab teamed with the New Look scarf!) & again should be an easy top to wear.

I'm also loving this funnel neck crop top, which I just know I'm going to have to try.  Although I'm slightly worried by the use of the word 'crop' as the sight of my mummy tummy spilling over the top of my jeans is really an image the world does not want to be seeing but nevertheless a fab colour which for warmth in winter could be layered over long sleeved t-shirts.

Talking of the impending cooler months then you can't go wrong with a simple crew neck jumper to inject some colour, which of course can look great when layered over some longer t-shirts.

This one from H&M is available in a few shades but I'm particularly loving the mustard yellow & green.

Finally you could always invest in a jacket to add some colour...now you know me I don't need any encourage to invest in a jacket & these next three are really tempting my resolve.  As you know I love all things boucle & this one from ASOS is no exception!

This jacquard zipped jacket from Zara is also stunning & a great colour come autumn/winter.

And finishing with this classic red blazer also from Zara which is one of those colours that can simply be worn all year round.

So there you have it my pick of the items currently available on the high street that are guaranteed to add that pop of colour to your wardrobe & transform a plain & simple outfit into something that little bit more styled.

And as usual here's what  I've been wearing these past few days, starting with a splash of colour!

Studded Belt - Zara
Maxi Skirt - Primark

So what do you think, are you a colour-phobic or do you tend to add a pop of colour to your outfit?  Maybe you've been colour coded & had the heartbreaking task of throwing away some of your favourite items having been told that colour did nothing for you.

As always I love receiving your comments & of course having only been able to provide a quick glance of some of the lovely bright items currently out there would love to know of any great pieces that have recently caught your eye.

Have a great few days & I hope you get chance to enjoy this glorious weather....sunshine & an impending bank holiday weekend what could be better?!! x

It Would Be Rude Not To.......Yes?!!

So as I have mentioned in a post leading up to this year's holiday one of the main reasons I like to try and travel light besides attempting to reduce the domestic chores (domestic goddess I am not!) is because I also like to take advantage of a little holiday shopping...well there's always one day when one of us (generally our son) has had a little too much sun (generally shoulders from being in the pool all day & despite slapping mountainous amounts of factor 50 on throughout the day the sun seems to always seep through...is it just us?) & we need a day out of the sun & in my opinion what better way to keep out of said sun than in the nice cool air conditioned shops...no?!!!

Plus there is the added advantage that when shopping in Majorca (& other European countries) there's a MAJOR saving to be had when shopping in Zara & Massimo Dutti & other high street stores.  So with the savings in mind not to mention that by the time we go away the stores generally have a whole heap of new season arrivals after the dregs of the sales I really am like a kid in a candy shop :-)

Now having to take (drag) two males along for the ride can at times be painful (gone are the days when our son would happily sit on a stool in the changing room plugged into his DS now it's the eye rolling & trying to pinpoint an exact time frame of how long we are REALLY going to be in Zara.  I keep telling him that I'm training him up for his future wife but it doesn't seem to go down well but one day......he WILL thank me!!!  Hubby on the other hand seems to be really getting into this whole styling lark & I'm seriously worried his inner Gok is going to make an appearance any day now!

Anyway I digress, so as we've been going to Majorca for several years now I like to think that I have got which shops & stores to pop into down to a tee.  Of course there are the gorgeous local shops like the wonderful ballet shoe shop which I visit each year armed with requests from my mum & sister but I wouldn't be a true Zara devotee if I didn't 'pop in' to have a gander & of course with serious savings on offer.....well what's a girl to do!!!

Now you won't be surprised to here that my weakness of jackets has got even weaker & a couple of new additions have already seen their way into my wardrobe.....yes I know I REALLY don't need any more jackets but trust me these really are stunning & oh so useful!!!

So first up is this military inspired wool jacket which really is a cross between a jacket & coat so with the no doubt chilly winter that is fast approaching I'm sure it will get plenty of use.

Now as an example of the savings I'm talking about this jacket is priced in the UK at £89.99 but I brought it in Majorca for £61.69 so a nice saving indeedy thank you very much.  So ladies it really is worth keeping room in your suitcase if you happen to be anywhere in the vicinity of a shopping centre, especially if you've seen something that's caught your eye!!

The second (& final) jacket that I just couldn't leave behind is this gorgeous dusky pink blazer.  I absolutely love this shade of pink, so pretty & flattering next to most skin tones & seems to be everywhere for Autumn/Winter.  Plus it goes with most colours...blue, black, grey, beige, khaki, maroon (need I go on?!) so again a useful little number.

Now I won't tell you how much I saved here as that would just be cruel but suffice to say savings were made on all purchases!

Having been persuaded to 'step away from the blazers', I then brought a couple of staple items including this shirt.

So a pretty blouse which will not only go with my new jacket but will look great dressed up with my pencil leather skirt & equally dressed down with my ripped boyfriend jeans & some killer heels.

I also couldn't resist this simple white top, which will hide a multitude of sins & is one of those go to tops when you don't have time to think & want something that you can just throw on & look styled.

Now I don't think this picture from the Zara website does the top any justice but believe me it's one of those tops that will look fab with some skinny trousers & a statement necklace.

So having done tops I of course had to look at knitwear - seeing as it's the one thing we all need plenty of come the darker months & I really love this boyfriend cardigan.

I really like how Zara have styled this cardigan & may have to try & recreate this look with my leather skirt in cooler months but I also really fancy it dressed down with my boyfriend jeans & of course it's the perfect top to get more wear out of my camisoles too so in my eyes a win, win!  And for those of you who are tempted it's also available in navy blue, camel and sand.

Now I'm sure I'm not the only one having withdrawal symptoms from not wearing jackets over the last few weeks & another thing I can't wait to wear again is scarves.  Of course I can't hand on heart say I don't have enough scarves already to wear but what I will say in my defence is that a new scarf can really add a whole new lease of life to your wardrobe not to mention help keep you warm & with that theory in mind I purchased the following ones.

Now the first two being leopard print I simply couldn't resist, added to the fact that I don't own leopard print scarves in either of these colours.......well let's just say Bet left Zara with a smile on her face!

This third scarf is a little different for me but I just love the pop of orange, which will just brighten up dull wintery days.

Of course a girl can also never have enough jeans & seeing as I've now discovered a love of boyfriend/looser styled ones then these jeans were only ever going to end up in my shopping bag!!

Turning to skirts I also loved this printed monochrome skirt, which is slightly 'A' line & made from a lovely heavy material (so nice & warm for winter) & will look great with both heels & biker boots.

Finally from my Zara haul I absolutely loved this green funnel dress, which just reminded me of something I could see Victoria Beckham designing (could just be me) but that's what entered my head when I saw it & will be great layered up in the winter again with heels or biker boots & a chunky knit cardi for a more dress down feel.

Hubby was relieved to know that seeing as I had, had great success (not quite the word he used ;-) ) in Zara that I was restrained in Massimo Dutti & in fact just got the one item.

Now as I have mentioned in a previous blog I love watches & had been hankering after a dress chronograph gold watch.  Of course when you say a chronograph gold watch the brand that instantly comes to mind is Michael Kors but seeing as I already have a 'best' watch I didn't want to spend too much plus I wanted something that was a little different & at more than half the price (especially with the additional saving) than a Michael Kors then it was a no brainer to go for this one.

Which if you like but perhaps not in the gold they also do in silver & gold and rose gold.

So apart from a few accessories from local boutiques, which to show you & then say you can't buy online would be far too cruel, that's my stash from this year's jaunt to sunnier climates.

Talking of sunnier climates I keep hearing rumours that we're due some better weather too, which is music to my ears as whilst I'm delighted with my new purchases I'm in no rush to start digging out the knitwear (let alone thermals).  Plus on a more important note my tan is fading by the day not to mention that despite slathering myself in aftersun & moisturiser I've started to peel.....so Mr Sunshine if you could please put in another appearance it would be greatly appreciated.

And as always here's a round up of what I've been wearing the last few days.

So there you have my first (I would love to say last) haul from Zara for the new season.  So what do you think?  Have you seen anything that's tempted your fancy or perhaps you've already hit Zara to snag the items that have caught your eye before they disappear never to be seen again.  Or perhaps like me you stock up when on holiday & take advantage of the additional savings?  As always I love reading all your comments.

Right I'm off on an important date with my son, hubby has had to 'pop' over to America for work (he assures me that there will be absolutely NO time for shopping!!! To which I replied with two words (no not those two!!)......duty free :-)  So we're off to the cinema & out for lunch before crashing on the sofa for some treats & chick flicks.... well I did say I was training him for my future daughter-in-law & no doubt over the course of the coming week I'll be educated on the sci-fi/fantasty releases....wish me luck!

Have a great Sunday & fingers crossed for that sun! x
