Happy New Years Eve, Sales Staples & My OOTD

Happy New Year's Eve!  So is everyone excited about the arrival of a new year?!!  I don't know about you but we're still ploughing through the party food, chocolates & treats but have promised ourselves that as soon as the cheeses etc have been finished then it's back to sensible eating & clothes feeling that little bit more comfortable!!

Now so far I've been pretty good with the sales & haven't really had that much of a look, hitting only a couple of sites to nab items I'd earmarked for buying if they were reduced & yay they were :-)

But this is where it could go horribly wrong as I'm about to cast the net wider & start trawling all my favourite websites, which could see me getting trigger happy on the mouse :-0  It's fair to say the hubby is looking worried ;-)

Of course we all know that sales are the a great time for not only grabbing bargains but also perfect for getting transitional items that can not only be worn straight away but for the forthcoming season to.

I've really enjoyed wearing more dresses since last summer & not only is a simple shift dress perfect for hiding those additional pounds that may have snuck on during all the festive celebrations, they're great for layering up under a biker jacket or long length chunky cardi & over thermals for keeping warm during the colder months but also fantastic for those warmer spring days too.

So without further ado here's my pick of sale shift dresses that can easily be worn from now right through to cooler summer days.  Just remember if you're prone to feeling the cold layer over thermals, thick tights, biker boots, a thick long length cardi & blanket scarf & you'll be super toasty!  Then as the temperatures rise wear with heeled ankle boots & a biker or for cooler summer days simple sandals & layer up the jewellery.

Mango have a great selection of this type of dress & I could have easily picked quite a few more than the ones shown below so if you size has sold out in any of the ones below it's worth spending some time on their website to as there are lots of similar styles online.

This first dress is one I've featured on the blog before, I just love the shade of green, which would not only look perfect teamed with a black biker but would also look just as stylish teamed with a longline navy blazer & ankle boots or some the warmer months a simple denim jacket & tan sandals.

Moving onto this simple zip detail shift dress (also available in navy blue & berry) & this is the style of dress that would be perfect for layering up, especially with a stunning thick blanket scarf or even a faux fur gilet.  You could even team it with a chunky pearl necklace to dress it up when teaming with an oversized cardi.

Another dress that's previously been featured on the blog is this stunning wrap neckline dress.  I just love the shape & flattering neckline, which really could be worn all year long.

For something a little bit more casual then how about this stunning textured dress, a complete steal now it's only £16.99.  Perfect for teaming with a striped breton worn underneath the dress for the coming months then teamed with metallic accessories & sandals come the summer.

This lightweight shift dress would also be ideally for layering over long sleeved layers & it goes without saying that I'm loving the hot pink accents.  This would be super cool for the impending summer - any chance we can hope we have as glorious summer as this year?!

Sticking with hot pink & this stunning Fenn Wright Manson shift - perfect for teaming with a blazer for the office or dressing up with some stunning heel & a fab clutch or even dressing down with some simple sandals & a few layered necklaces.

The same goes for this Boden dress.  Now I'm not one to be drawn to all over patterns (well apart from leopard print of course!) but I'm really drawn to this dress.  Of course this could be because of the hot pink but I thinking it's because I can see this working so well with my longline navy blazer & ankle boots too.

Moving onto Hush now & this drop waist jersey dress looks stunning how they've styled it in the picture below.  I've been given a lovely grey & cream blanket scarf that would look stunning worn draped over the one shoulder with this dress.  I'm also liking the fact that not only is this the perfect dress for a cool off duty kind of look but for days where you wanted to slob out at home but wanted to feel a bit more dressed than trackie bums & a hoodie then this dress is going to keep you looking stylish whilst comfy when snoozing on the sofa!

Back to Boden with this next dress, which I don't recall seeing before.  I just love this in both the navy & the grey.  I'm thinking I'd size up in this so it was more of a loose fit.  How cool would this look teamed with a bit of 'Bet'?!!  Or a pop of colour?!  I just love it, the question is which colour?!

And finally I just had to include a bit of Bet & this jersey Whistles dress is a real bargain for £32 - after all surely every wardrobe should have a bit of Bet ;-)

So back to today & getting ready for tonight, which means popping out to the shops for some fresh supplies & prepping & cooking for later.  Now each New Year's Eve we have family friends round  for a fab night full of fun, laughter, a bit of fancy dress & board games but the dreaded flu has struck so we're just waiting to hear if they're going to be able to make it :-(  Needless to say the bubbles are on ice & the board games are ready so regardless we'll be celebrating but if they're unable to make it the fancy dress & themed night will just have to wait until we can re-arrange after all New Year's Eve won't be the same without them (still keeping my fingers crossed they can make it though!) & we'll just have to celebrate it twice!!

Finally I just wanted to say again how much I appreciate all the wonderful support, comments & friends I've made since starting my blog.  Each & every comment/email/message means the absolute world to me & I can't thank you all enough.

So come on what's everyone up to this New Year's Eve?  I'd love to hear how you celebrate the passing of the New Year.

Whatever you're up to have a good one & see you in 2015 ;-)

Style Steal - Rosie Huntington-Whiteley & WIWT

Hope everyone's enjoying the festivities & like me working their way through their fair share of chocolates & bubbles....well it has to be done doesn't it?!!

As soon as I saw this picture of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley I instantly knew I needed to steal her style as I just love everything about this outfit & there are probably elements of it that most of us already have in our wardrobes too.  Of course if we could steal the weather as well that would be perfect wouldn't it ;-)

So here's Rosie looking her usual stunning self.

And without further ado here's how I'd steal her style, starting with this lovely duster coat from Warehouse, which whilst not an ideal coat to keep you toasty in the current climate is going to definitely come into it's own come the milder weather & would be a great wardrobe staple to add to your wardrobe.

I think most of us can agree on the fact that you can never have enough stripes in your wardrobe & I just love this one from H&M.  Not only is it a great price but I love the additional detailing with the gold buttons on the shoulder.

Moving onto the skirt now & this faux leather one from Mango looks great & it's also a very nice price too!  In fact I'm quite liking the camo shirt they've pictured it with it to....I just might have to investigate that one further ;-)

For the bag I've chosen something a little bit different in style to Rosie's.  I just love everything about this design, a great classic that's also available in black, tan & green if red's not your thing.

And finally how gorgeous are these boots from Mint Velvet.  A lovely heel which I reckon even I could walk in & they really would look stunning with bare legs or trousers.....again I think I might have to investigate these further!!!

So there you have my style steal.  What do you think, is this a look you'd love to copy?  Do you have similar items already hanging in your wardrobe that could make a similar outfit?  I think I've got most elements apart from the khaki duster coat, which I'm just loving teamed with the monochrome & red bag.

Finally here's what I'm wearing today & I love this look so much I couldn't help try & re-create the outfit with similar items in my wardrobe!

WIWT - Camouflage & Pleather

How's everyone's food & alcohol consumption going?!  We're slowly making our way through he copious amounts of everything & hoping that the snow that made a brief appearance yesterday might come back & snow us in, as we've got more than enough provisions to keep us going till at least the end of January (well alcohol & chocolate at least ;-) ).

Making a bit of effort today & donning a skirt as we're entertaining, so I've decided to teaming my Gap sweatshirt with my pleather midi skirt & some heels.

Happy Boxing Day - Dressed Down With A Parka

Happy Boxing Day :-) I hope everyone's recovered from their Christmas dinners?!  If you're anything like us you'll have lots of leftovers, in fact we've got so much we're debating whether to go for a second Christmas lunch or bubble & squeak - at the moment it's Christmas lunch part deux that's winning with bubble & squeak on Friday.

Today is my sister's due date, so who knows what today will bring, maybe a new Niece or Nephew!  In the meantime we're planning a quiet one & chilling out at home.

So starting the day dressed down for a nice walk in the woods in the effort to walk off some of the over indulgences of yesterday before coming back home for more food & of course chocolates & bubbles before a sneaky snooze in front of the fire.....bliss!

Happy Christmas Day & WIWT

So the big day is finally here :-)  If you're anything like me you'll have been awake at silly o'clock with the excitement of the day ahead.  However, the same can't quite be said for our son who is now mid-teens & now doesn't wake quite as early as me!  Although there's still all the excitement of his younger years when he comes into our bedroom with his stocking in tow!

Of course the first rustle of paper & the dog has been going mad as he just loves paper - simply can't get enough of it......& so the glorious madness of Christmas Day has begun - bring it on :-)

Dressing up for Christmas lunch in a Zara dress I brought in the Spring & have been dying to bring out to play.

What I've Been Buying In November & My OOTD

This last month has just flown by & of course another month has passed where sadly this post isn't empty!!!  One day I might just surprise you & also the hubby who I fear my faint with the shock (I've smelling salts in the cupboard ready, now I just need to work on the non-spending bit!!).

So what have I been buying....well there's a bit of a theme going on & that's both in the colour & item of clothing.

I'd seen this first top on the Zara website & had quickly skimmed past it wondering who on earth would buy it & of course polishing my halo in the process.  Fast forward to stepping into Zara one day & my eyes were instantly drawn to said top out of intrigue, which led to a quick try on in the changing room, which naturally led to a quick purchase :-0  It really is a stunning top & one I've already worn for my girls day out in London the other week.  So in answer to my initial question the mad fool is me!!  But seriously you should try this on as it's stunning.

As I've mentioned in previous posts I love this light shade of grey so when Mango were having one of their 30% discount weekends as soon as I spotted this shirt it was a done deal.  Again for me it's the little bit of detailing on the shoulders & also the slight texture to the fabric which make this shirt something so easy to style.  I just feel it turns a simple pair of jeans & boots into something that bit more special.

Now I'd been on the hunt for a bit of camouflage to add to my wardrobe, so when I spotted this camo sweatshirt (which was £16.99 in store & not the £39.99 as on their website!) it was a no brainer.  I've already worn it a couple of times & I can't wait to team it with some leopard print for a spot of pattern clashing.

More grey with this next purchase too - a simple long sleeved thrown on checked dress, which I've already worn under a tuxedo jacket & with a biker jacket for a more casual vibe.  Just one of those dresses you can throw on & go!

Of course it wouldn't be monthly confession without a jacket purchase & I just couldn't resist this stunning navy blazer, which having recently sold a few of my beloved jackets helped fill a gap in the wardrobe ;-)

And finally as soon as I saw this motif sweatshirt I just had to buy it as my 5 year old nephew & I have a saying that we're going to 'rock the world' so I knew I had to get this to wear with him!

So that's my last monthly confession for this year, if I say so myself my December purchase list (or lack of!) is looking pretty good *polishes halo* although of course the fact I've had a birthday & it's Christmas Day tomorrow may have helped!!  Although that's before I even start shopping the sales......but seriously it's when the goods arrive right not when you click the button?!!!

Finally here's my outfit for Christmas Eve - a mad morning of cramming in some exercises (to try & offset the amount of chocolate I've already eaten!), preparing vegetables for the big day tomorrow & getting ready for tonight.  Plus at some point we're also hoping to walk to the next village for a Christmas Eve drink (although as usual I'm thinking we've underestimated just how long everything is going to take us!).  Then it will be time to get the turkey on, before meeting friends at the village club for carols & drinks & finishing with everyone back to ours for turkey sandwiches, gluhwein & toasted chestnuts on the fire & seeing Christmas morning in together.

Shirt - Boden
Sweatshirt - Boden
Jeans - Zara
Boots - Zapita

Stripes & Hot Pink

So how about you, what are you up to for Christmas Eve?  Apart from putting out the stocking & leaving supplies for Santa do you have any family traditions?  We started the tradition of cooking the turkey Christmas Eve a couple of years ago with turkey sandwiches on the night as a new tradition, as even though our son is growing up I think it's still lovely to have new family traditions that will last a lifetime.

Happy Christmas Eve everyone, have an amazing day.......Santa's coming tonight whoop whoop!!!!

New Outfit Post - Navy, Stripes & A Splash Of Hot Pink!

So yesterday didn't go quite go to plan as we didn't make it to the cinema as the delivery of the kitchen island involved 'a little' bit more work than we'd thought......hubby & son having to carry said island down the road, through the field, dismantle the fencing & in through the French doors as the island wouldn't fit in through the front door!!!  Luckily it's now in situ & we love it & I seem to have my own version of the Chuckle Brothers a.k.a. hubby & son!!

Keeping things simple & classic today with a striped sweatshirt, distressed denim, a bit of glitter & a pop of colour & hoping we make the cinema to see the final instalment of the Hobbit plus the glamorous task of cleaning the house - joy!

Sweatshirt - Boden
Shirt - Zara
Jeans - Zara
Bag - Boden

Navy, Stripes & A Pop Of Hot Pink

Sweatshirt - Boden Now £17.50

I hope everyone's coping with their pre-Christmas to do lists, our fridge seems to be groaning from the sheer amount of food currently piled in it & I think we're more ready for Armageddon than Christmas!!

Happy night before Christmas Eve......only 2 more sleeps till Santa :-)
