"Timeless everyday style"

Midlife Loves

A Classic Investment

So how's the sales shopping going?!!  I've had a few successes together with some dis-aaaaastars darling....but have to admit I've so far only brought items that are either things I've had my eye on pre-sales but didn't want to pay full price for, or an item that's caught my eye & I know it's just going to be one of those classic pieces that provided I don't wear it out will be in my wardrobe for a long time to come.  In fact I think hubby has hit the sales more than me, well me on behalf of hubby ;-) so I'm feeling pretty darn chuffed with myself....although of course it is only the beginning of the month & whether I can keep my resolve once the emails start pinging into my inbox notifying me of further discounts remains to be seen!!!

One item of clothing that makes my resolve melt like hot butter on toast is a gorgeous blazer/jacket (no surprises there!!!) & the sales are always going to be a great time to expand your collection not to mention invest in a few classic ones that are not only going to go with a lot of things in your wardrobe but can also be worn for many occasions.  And what better investment than a tailored navy blazer, a real classic addition that no wardrobe should be without.  I don't think you can ever go wrong when wearing a navy blazer & jeans be it of the skinny or boyfriend variety, especially when teamed with a classic fitted white shirt or Breton top.  Throw in some tan accessories & for me this has got to be one of my favourite looks - elegant, stylish & chic - what more could you need from an outfit?

Now there are some gorgeous navy blazers currently available in the sales & hopefully if you're tempted by any of the following little numbers they're still available in your size when you click on the link.  So without further ado & keeping everything crossed that the sizes are still readily available here's a round up of some stunning blazers I could so easily hit the button on.

First up is this gorgeous classic double breasted, brass button number from Zara, a really elegant & stunning jacket that I'm having to resist the urge to add to my basket, but seeing as I already own a couple of different styled navy blazers resist I must.  Although it is making me think of changing the buttons on one of them from navy to brass as I just love a bit of gold detailing with navy.

If a double breasted jacket isn't your thing then Zara also do a single breasted jacket, which is slightly similar to the jacket I'm thinking of changing the buttons on.

Of if you like your jacket to have more styling then this blazer with gathered shoulders may be more your thing, although may not last as many years due to that extra bit of detailing, which could so easily date....I'm thinking 80's shoulder pads & yes I blame you Joan Collins!!!

Moving away from Zara & onto Massimo Dutti & you just know that this single breasted blazer is something that will never date & will look as effortlessly chic now as it will do in 10 years time, just stunning.

If however, the above blazer is out of stock in your size, you could of course always opt to buy a suit jacket instead & this one from Massimo Dutti is a little longer in length to their blazer.

For something a little more casual in appearance then what about this marl effect one.....I can really see this looking stunning when teamed with some Converse pumps & t-shirt come the warmer months.

Looking at some more longer length blazers then this one from ASOS looks fab & if the colour is true in the picture a slightly brighter blue than your normal navy blazer.

Of course not everyone is happy in a structured style of jacket & if you're looking for something a little more dressed down then this boiled wool jacket from Sandwich could be just the thing.

Or maybe even this single breasted jersey jacket from Noa Noa.

One thing that really irritates me at sales time is that a lot of shops seem to bring in a lot of tat which 'appears' to be heavily discounted.  Of course not every store is like this & if you shop regularly at certain stores you'll know when they're genuine sales as opposed to brought in stock.  One of the online stores I always like taking a peak at during the sales in Boden as you know all their sales stock is genuine & if you're really lucky you can bag yourself a real bargain.  So of course it would have been rude not to take a peak at their sales blazers.

I love this preppy styled one with the edging on the lapels & pockets.

Or for a more relaxed feel blazer then this next one from Boden also looks gorgeous & you could always think of changing the button, maybe perhaps even blinging it up with a gorgeous sparkly button to add that edge of glamour.

Keeping with longer line blazers & this crepe one from French Connection looks lovely & of course being crepe would mean it's one of those fab jackets that you don't have to worry about creasing.

Of perhaps you'd prefer this textured suit jacket from Mango?

If however, you love the idea of a navy jacket but find blazers a little bit too boring then what about this stunning grosgrain detailed jacket from Jaeger, which although being Jaeger means it's generally more pricy, being in the sale suddenly makes it a lot more reasonable.

Of finally how about this military one from Boden.  Personally I would definitely want to swap the buttons for brass ones but I totally love the style & like a blazer, you know a military jacket is always going to something you can bring out each season.

So there you have my round up of all things navy in the blazer/jacket department.  What do you think?  Are you like me & can go weak at the knees for a stunning navy little number or does it just scream school blazer/office attire to you?  I'd love to hear your thoughts.

But before I love & leave you here's a quick round up of what I've been wearing these last few days.

So come on time to fess up, do you own more than one navy blazer/jacket or is it just me?  What do you love wearing your navy jacket with.....do you have a go to look or do you find it generally goes with most things in your wardrobe?  I'd love to hear how you style yours.

Before I go I thought I'd just share this picture with you....my first publication in a glossy, Essentials Magazine no less!!!!  Needless to say the odd glass of bubbles has been consumed to celebrate....no dry January here I'm afraid ;-)

    1. Thanks Joanna, can't wait to see you in the camel coat, I'm so glad I managed to get it as I know I'd have been kicking myself if I'd missed out. The fact I've recently brought a parka.....well I'm blaming that on the fact I need a warm stylish coat for snow & rain, which we are having plenty of these last few days!! Jane xx
