An Essential For Autumn & My OOTD

This year seems to be whizzing by.  I can't believe we're already firmly in September & that only means one thing - darker nights & cooler days.  Now whilst I love snuggling down in front of an open fire come the darker nights hopefully we'll have an autumn that's not too nippy so that we don't need to drag the winter coats out too soon & dare I say it the signs are looking good!!

So with that in mind I thought I'd take a look at a great autumn essential, the gilet.  Perfect for cooler days without the bulk of a winter coat plus they look fab layered over a denim or biker jacket.

So first up how about this faux shearling gilet from Mango.  I can really see this looking great teamed with some chunky black biker boots not to mention under a denim jacket or shirt.

Or if you don't fancy it in black then they do a similar version in cream, which lets face it will go with everything!

Or how about this stunning navy one from Mint Velvet.  Simply gorgeous & something that little bit different due to its colour.

Moving onto full faux fur gilets next with this reversible one from Mango.  Now I could be having a totally blonde moment but they don't appear to show the reversible side on the website!  Personally  I don't think you can beat a bit of faux fur for snuggling in come autumn & let's face it faux fur is huge this season!

Moving onto a shop I rarely visit ;-0 & I love the look, not to mention shade, of this faux fur one from Zara.  It looks gorgeous teamed with black and oatmeal but equally would look stunning paired with denim.  I'm thinking distressed jeans & an oversized white shirt.

Or if you're looking for something in-between a black or brown gilet then this next one from Zara is perfect, as it's that shade that if worn with black would bring out the black tones but if paired with browns would look fairly brown too.

Moving onto New Look with this next one.  This has what I'd call more of a shaggy look to it & in a great neutral colour that would look fab teamed with most things & perfect for continuing this summer's boho trend.

Back to Zara & I love how they've styled it over the leather jacket but personally think it would look better with a jacket with collars....I'm thinking biker!

Another great black faux fur gilet from Max Studio next, which I'd love to team with a denim jacket.

However, for the ultimate in fur gilets then I am soooo loving this charcoal one from Mint Velvet.  Just simply stunning & again something a little bit different being charcoal to all the black & brown ones out there.  I love how they've styled it with the chiffon dress & belt.  In fact I might try this look this autumn provided of course I don't end up looking like the Michelin man, with more than the odd spare tyre round my waist!!!

Finally I'm also loving this longer length one from Zara (no surprise there!).  Now I got an amazing one from Zara last year, which I totally love - something that little bit different in style that looks far more expensive than it actually was & is in fact my only gilet!!!  So I reckon I might just have to order this next one too as it looks like it could be just as gorgeous & surely a girl should own at least two gilets right?!!!

Stepping away from all things furry, here's my outfit for a lazy chilling out Sunday & if you missed out on the Boden slip ons, they've now got most sizes back in stock!!

Sequinned Sweatshirt - H&M
Leather Cuff - Massimo Dutti
Jeans - Zara
Slip Ons - Boden £69

Keeping It Simple

Jeans - Mango £44.99
Slip Ons - Boden £69

So are you a lover of the gilet?  If so what style do you prefer?  Or perhaps you just throw on an extra layer under a blazer when there's a nip in the air?  Maybe you've already located & bagged your gilet of the season?  As always I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Have a fab Sunday.

  1. I have a French Connection one my daughter bought me and I have never worn it. I find gilets hard, if it's cold I don't want cold arms to be honest, the weather never seems right in my opinion. I love the shaggy fur ones, I saw the Zara one in Spain and it's gorgeous, the jacket even more so x

Have you tried a long sleeved thermal underneath your gilet, I find that always helps.

    1. How fab Sarah, I love dragging mine out of hibernation this time of year, although so far I think it might even be too warm for a gilet, which isn't something I'd have thought I'd be saying mid September!

  10. Hi Emma that gilet looks gorgeous, you should definitely give it a try. I think the bulkiness of a gilet is all to do with where it finishes on your body & I prefer mine to come just a bit lower than my hips if that makes sense!
Let me know how you get on with the Roman Originals one.
