Taking A Look At Clarks & WIWT

In the past couple of weeks I bet most of us have had to make a visit to Clarks for the dreaded school shoes but I bet you didn't have the time or energy to take a look for yourselves?!

In the past twelve months I seem to have found myself falling back in love with Clarks, a brand I must admit I wouldn't of even considered looking at having left my school days firmly behind me many moons ago.  This was due to my ignorance of believing that Clarks were only good for two things - school shoes & dare I say it granny shoes!  But I can honestly say that that's no longer the case as they actually cater for those of us that want fashionable, trendy shoes that are not only well made but also extremely comfy, with some of their styles even coming in a wider fitting which when you have wide feet like me is pure joy!

Now although we seem to be experiencing something of an Indian summer at the moment it doesn't mean it's not too soon to be thinking boots as you can bet your bottom dollar that there'll soon be a nip to the air & we'll all be packing away the sandals & thinking all things chunky & warm.

I've been desperate to find a biker boot style boot that isn't too chunky, not to short in length & also not to long that it falls just below the knee.  In short I've been on a somewhat Goldilocks mission to find the 'just right' biker boot that will not only look great with jeans but that I can also wear with dresses/skirts too.

So when Clarks very kindly sent me a pair of boots I was keeping my fingers & toes crossed that they just might be the what I was looking for.

The boots they sent are their Mezze Game boots which come in just the one width but are plenty wide enough even for my wide feet & are mid-calf leather boots which have approximately a 1½" heel.  Plus just in case you suffer with sweaty feet they even come with leather inner socks too!

I decided to go with the dark grey version as I thought this would be better for going with everything including my black leather biker jacket.  I really love the colour as it's like a softly faded black so a great colour for not feeling too hard & they have just the right amount of chunkiness without feeling too clumpy if you know what I mean!

I was also really lucky enough for Clarks to send me a bag to go with my new boots .  So seeing as I've unleashed my inner hippie this summer & also found a love of cross body bags & the benefits of being 'hands free' I just couldn't resist this classic leather one.  Available in two colours - tan & navy, and measuring approximately 20cm x 6.5cm x 18cm it's the perfect size for carrying all your essentials whilst not being too big to end up dragging you down or giving you back ache.  It also has an adjustable strap if you are a little taller/shorter than average so you can get the perfect length for you.  Plus for me it just has a bit of a vintage vibe to it that I thought would make it perfect for teaming with the biker boots without looking too mumsy.

I decided to chose the tan version of the bag as I thought it would help pick out the tan strap on my boots & also I don't think you can ever go wrong with a classic tan leather bag, as you just know it's simply going to go with everything.

Of course me being me I just had to have a trying on session as soon as my new babies arrived!

So what do I think?  Well firstly I'm in love with the bag & I just know it's going to be getting a lot of use over the coming months.  The leather is gorgeously soft & I love the plait detailing on the strap not to mention the easy popper fastening.  My only problem is that as soon as my Mum saw it she declared that it was exactly what she had been searching high & low for & I had to literally wrestle it out of her viper like grip!!!

As for the boots they're just what I wanted.  Chunky but not too chunky, a bit of heel to elongate the leg & the right height on the calf too.  Plus they look great with jeans & dresses/skirts alike.  I've had so many problems with the ones I've tried in the past as they've either been too fitted on the calf, meaning they looked to heavy with a dress or so loose on the calf that I looked like a child playing dress up!  These however, as Goldilocks herself once declared are just right!  Plus of course they're super comfy but I suppose that's something you would expect from a Clarks shoe right?!  Oh & I love the colour which again helps make the boot that bit more feminine than a solid black biker & of course gives it a great worn vibe too.

Finally here's what I'm wearing today.

So have you taken a look at the new range from Clarks this Autumn or have you only managed to get the apples of your eye fitted & kitted out so far?!!  They really do have some great offers plus they're offering 20% off all bags till the 21st of September just use code 'BAG2014'.

As always I'd love to hear your comments not to mention if you've got your eye on a pair of shoes/boots or bag from Clarks this Autumn.  Maybe you've already made your purchase before sizes run out?  Let me know.

See you in the morning.

  1. They look great with the dress. I also have wide feet (permanently wider still after having babies!!) so like Clarks for that. I've had a few pairs of flats from them this summer which have been great.

    1. There's nothing worse than your feet not being comfortable is there, especially when like me you suffer from wide feet. You certainly can't beat Clarks for comfort not to mention style they have some shoes & boots in their collection.

  6. Clarks have had a real renaissance over the last few years....I never would have shopped there for shoes for me, but a couple of years ago some biker boots caught my eye & I now have a few pairs of shoes/boots from Clarks. They have really upped their game & are so much more 'on trend'. The boots you chose are amazing, totally something I would wear! Really love the bag too. Roll on Autumn! x
