An Update From Yesterday, Statement Bags & My OOTD

So firstly a quick update from yesterday....not sure I can fully put it into words but it was just one of those days that was really special from beginning to end & perfect in every way.  The main event (Helen Lederer's pre-launch party) was absolutely amazing.  I hadn't got a clue what to expect but it really did surpass all expectations of what I'd thought it could be like.  I met & shared the evening with some amazing people with lots of vino & laughs.  Helen herself is such a lovely lady - incredibly funny, warm, entertaining & welcoming.  Her new book 'Losing It' is a fantastic laugh aloud mid-lit comedy based around the character Millie, a middle aged woman who still feels 30 & asks the question can a middle aged woman still have it all & is something we can no doubt all relate to (launched on the 12th of February - click here to buy), it really is fantastic, so much so that I started reading it as soon as I sat down on the train home!

So back to today's post & one thing I've found I've used a lot more these past twelve months is handbags - not necessarily ones that cost a fortune but ones that are either slightly different in style (I've been loving clutches it has to be said) to ones that either provide a splash of colour or interest to an outfit.  So what better time to think about investing in some new ones than the sales!

Now I've still managed to be relatively 'good' so far this month but that could seriously be about to change as there's nothing more appealing that a new handbag.

So let's jump straight in.  I just love this classic leather tote.  A really chic colour & design that is always going to scream style & elegance teamed with the simplest of outfits - jeans, ballet pumps &  a white shirt & you'll be turning heads for all the right reasons.

Now if I didn't have my red Zara bag that I brought last year, I'd seriously be tempted by this John Lewis one.  I can't believe how useful I've found my red clutch & have worn it through all the seasons.  It really is a fabulous colour for brightening the dullest of outfits.

Of course my love of leopard print is well documented so I couldn't not feature this beauty.  For me this would be a real classic & neutral to bring out for any occasion & would instantly transform the simplest of outfits.

Or for something a little bit more modern then this studded clutch from Mint Velvet would be great for a night out with the other half or the girls.

Or how about this pony skin leather pouch from Jigsaw.  Again a great neutral a little bit different to leopard print that would go with so many things in your wardrobe & would really stand out against a red dress or trousers come the summer months.

If you don't own a black bag then this is seriously something you should consider investing in as it's a real wardrobe classic.  I just love this quilted one from Mango, such a classic style & the texture just seals it for me.

Or for something a little bit more classic then I just love this Banana Republic clutch.

Or another wardrobe staple is this simple cross body bag, perfect for when you need a bag for the essentials but need to go hands free (I'm thinking holding that all important glass of wine or two ;-) ).

This next bag I'm definitely going to have to order - in both colours to decide which one I like best.  I just love everything about this - classic, stylish & timeless need I say any more?!

Finishing with my outfit for today.

Jumper - Zara
Scarf - Zara
Jeans - Zara
Shoes - Office Shoes

So what do you think?  Do you see any bags that are tempting you or have you already make a purchase in the sales?  Perhaps you've got a go to bag that always comes out on special occasions?  I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Right I'm off to crash on the sofa - after waking & having a burst of energy & making soup for the week, fresh parmesan bread & doing a cooked lunch the sofa & left over Christmas chocolates are now calling!!

Have a fab Sunday & see you tomorrow.
