OOTD - Layering Up A Simple Shift Dress

Happy Pancake Day :-)  It's the last day off work for me to enjoy spending some time with our son whilst he's off over half term so we're spending the day at home chilling & I'm also itching to get started on painting the couple of pieces of furniture I brought at the antiques fair on Sunday :-)

Keeping things pretty simple & layering my Zara grey shift dress with my Rachel Wears oversized cardigan which has been incredibly useful on days where you just need an extra layer to keep you warm & an oversized blanket scarf.

Cardigan - Rachel Wears
Scarf - Zara
Dress - Zara
Boots - Seven Boot Lane

Layering Up A Simple Dress

Cardigan - Rachel Wears £135
Scarf - ASOS £16
Dress - Mango £19.99

Obviously the painting will be done in old paint splattered jeans & a rugby top so no doubt there will be a couple of changes during the course of the day as I swap my dress for my painting gear & vice versa whilst I wait for the first coat of paint to dry!

So how about you what are you up to today any plans?  If you're like me you'll just love having the luxury of a day off work :-)

Don't forget to make pancakes tonight & I'd love to hear if anyone is giving anything up for Lent?!  I always think about it but never do :-0

  1. Jane I really enjoy following your blog because not only is it inspirational but I appreciate the time and hard work taken to include the where to buy info and 'shop my style' alternative ideas. I also look forward to your daily Instagram pics but from what you've shown of your home (in the background), along with the garden, they too, also look beautiful. You mentioned painting furniture and I'm sure many of us would love to see your 'renovations' and info on how you have achieved them. Why not expand the blog to include interiors? I'm sure fans of your blog would absolutely love to see your interior design ideas! Just a suggestion but PLEASE consider it lol!

    1. Hi & thank you for such a lovely comment it really means the world to me so thank you for taking the time to post a comment. I love creating looks both with clothes & in the home so I'll definitely give it some more thought. I promise to post some pictures of the couple of pieces I bought at the weekend when they're finished.....just waiting for the second coat of paint to dry then the distressing can commence :-)

    1. Oh Anne if only we could stop the clock every now & again how fantastic would that be?! I haven't completed half of the things I wanted to do with my two days off but never mind, it's just been lovely to not to have to keep an eye on the clock :-)

  4. Sometimes the simplest of looks are the the ones that look the best, and I just love your relaxed look today Jane! We did pancakes, and I couldn't keep them coming fast enough! Like you thought about giving up something but other than my addiction to clothes, I have no other vices ( If you believe that?)........Haha! Helen xx

  5. Glad to hear you are getting to enjoy some quality family time this half term Jane! I love the oversized cardy over your dress, now the temps are rising a tad I am hoping to get the legs out more even if it means wearing tights! xx

    1. I'd be lost without my tights come the cooler months Michelle & it's nice to be able to wear a dress for a change from all the trousers & jeans in my wardrobe.
Hope you're having a fab half term too.
