WIWT - A Lucky Risk & Faux Fur

You know when you take a gamble & then keep all your fingers & toes crossed that the gamble pays off?!

Well that's what happened when I decided to click the button on a faux fur gilet on eBay.  I really fancied a lightish grey faux fur number but couldn't see anything on the high street that took my fancy.  But after half an hour on eBay I'd found the perfect number but the only concern was it was from a supplier based in China.  Cue a couple of hours spent in turmoil debating whether I should take the plunge, after all you never quite know what you're ordering, if it will fit & most importantly whether it will even turn up in the first place!  Then I remembered eBay's buyer protection so decided to take the plunge & two & a half weeks later my package arrived & luckily for me my gamble had paid off.  Not only was the fit perfect (I ordered a M/UK8), the quality is just amazing & a real bargain at the price.

Naturally of course I've had to bring it out to play today!

  1. Oh Jane what a bargain, It looks so expensive! I am looking for a black one to replace a very old Joseph one which these days resembles a birds nest....Not a good look! I will take a hop over to ebay......Like you always wary of buying from somewhere like China, but if it looks as good as that and it all arrived safe and sound then that's good enough for me!! p.s. Is it done in black?

    1. I'm absolutely delighted with it Helen as like you say it looks a lot more expensive & is a fabulous thickness as well as being really well made. I'm not sure if they do this exact style in black but they do, do others......in fact I've ordered a shorter length one &I'm currently waiting for it to arrive!

  5. Why does the photo near the bottom of their Ebay listing say '100% kind shooting'. People should be really careful with faux fur from China. It is not always faux but real rabbit, fox or raccoon dog fur. That seller is listing rabbit fur items for the same sort of price as the faux one. Very cheap for them to produce real fur items as legislation is non existent as regards animal welfare especially with animals like rabbits. Therefore, they can sell genuine fur items at faux fur prices.

    1. Not just rabbits, foxes or raccoon dogs but domestic cats and dogs too. I love fashion but could never wear fur or faux fur from China. I have never forgotten seeing a video of a young German Shepherd being skinned alive for its fur (then used for "faux fur" trade)it was still breathing and blinking when it's skinned body was discarded. It has haunted me. As the original poster has stated faux fur from China cannot be trusted. As someone who loves their two pet cats and two black Labradors I cannot take the risk of supporting gut wrenching cruelty to any animals. And as for the people who profess to love their pets whilst happily buying real fur, words fail me. And that goes for the FM40 blogger who bought Woolrich recently....
Jane, I enjoy your blog but please be very careful what you are endorsing and promoting, especially as it would seem you are an animal lover with your sweet little Cavalier. Thank you.

    1. Sadly, I think it is too, even if bought with good faith as faux fur.
