WIWT - Styling A Tuxedo For Daytime

Morning ladies, bit of a special & early start to the day as I'm up & out bright & early as I'm off to London for the day with my mum & sister :-)

We're heading off on a real girlie day for a belated mother's day celebration, which will naturally involve a spot of retail therapy but most importantly afternoon tea at the Savoy.  Meaning today's outfit has needed to be smart as well as comfy.

So after much deliberation I've decided to stick with a monochrome look & team my tuxedo jacket with faux leather trousers & a tuxedo style shirt.  Plus in honour of the occasion I'm breaking out a bit of a special & new purchase.  I've mentioned previous that I've been selling a few pieces on eBay & after much eBaying & wardrobe detoxing I'd managed to accrue a little pot of money that I've been saving for a special purchase.  So when I spotted these Chloe boots on Shopbop with only one pair left in my size, brand new & at a reduced price to the RRP well it meant the button was clicked in an instant.  A real impulse buy but I reckon they're hopefully earn their place on a cost per wear basis & of course they've made all the time involved in listing, posting & visiting the post office totally worth it!

OOTD - Keeping It Classic

Happy Thursday ladies.  Don't know about you but I just love that Thursday feeling - housework all completed ready for the weekend & only one more sleep till wine o'clock plus a Bank Holiday weekend - what's not to love?!

Before I share what I'm wearing, there's a few Zara purchases to report on.

Firstly this fab striped top (I think it's safe to say we're all agreed you can never have too many right?!!) & I just love the extra detailing on this one with the red stripe down the side & gold coloured buttons.  Plus it's a great weight so perfect seeing as the weather isn't particularly warm at the moment (understatement I know but Spring has got to arrive soon!!).

Zara Striped Sweater £25.99

Then I've also succumbed to a couple of jackets - my HUGE weakness but these Chanel inspired beauties are gorgeous.  I had originally ordered the two to compare but what can I say it's too hard to call & both are now hanging in my wardrobe.....although I was very good & managed to part with two of my other jackets to make room & of course the extra pennies I'll make in selling them helps to ease the guilt :-0

Oils Of Life With The Body Shop & My OOTD

Morning ladies today I'm looking at skincare & in particular The Body Shop's Oils Of Life range.

Now it's no secret that I'm a huge lover of La Roche Posay & if you're interested you can see my full skincare regime here.  But when I was recently approached by The Body Shop to see if I'd be interested to trial their new skincare range I thought it would make great research.  After all it doesn't hurt to compare & review your skincare regime does it?!

As someone who has always suffered from oily/combination skin the word 'oil' & 'skincare' have always sent a shiver down my spine.  Why would I want to put oil on skin that already has tendencies to be a little greasy & prone to the odd spot?!!  But having looked at The Body Shop's website to investigate the range further I was intrigued.

So what does their website say?  Well the Oils of Life range contains 3 precious seed oils - black cumin seed oil (which is known for its concentration in antioxidants), camellia seed oil (which is naturally rich in nutritive oleic acid) & rosehip seed oil (which is rich in Omega 3 & 6).  Body Shop state their Oils of Life range will intensely revitalise your skin & revive radiance.  Two things I think most of us are looking for in our skincare.

On top of this they claim that oils have the ability to enable you to see "the radiance & suppleness being restored & dull skin coming back to life".

Plus if you're like me & very wary of using oil on your skin some oils have anti-bacterial, anti-microbial & anti-fungal properties which can help reduce breakouts.  Not to mention the use of oil can help prevent water loss from the skin & maintain skin hydration.

All in all it sounds like the answer to many a prayer.

My Midlife Fashion, The Body Shop Oils Of Life

So here's what I was sent.

My Midlife Fashion, The Body Shop Oils Of Life, Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Essence Oil, Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil, Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Sleeping Cream, Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Cream

So how do you incorporate these products into your routine?  Well firstly I have been cleansing my face morning & evening using my normal products.  Then I have been applying a few drops of the Intensely revitalising Essence Lotion onto a cotton wool pad & applying to my face.  Followed by the Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil, which I've been using every morning & evening by massaging 1-2 drops onto my face & neck prior to applying my facial cream.  Which of a morning has been the Intensely Revitalising Cream & then of an evening Intensely Revitalising Sleeping Cream which I've also been applying to my dĂ©colletĂ© as well as my neck & then using my normal eye creams.

So how have I been finding the products?  Well firstly as I mentioned earlier I had worries about my skin feeling greasy/oily but I can honestly say these products absorb extremely quickly into the skin & none of them have felt heavy or have left me with the feeling that I could feel them sitting on my skin.  Plus a little certainly goes a long way - with the oils I have only needed a couple of drops & with the creams a pea sized amount per application.  They also smell incredibly fresh & spa like, which I've found incredibly uplifting & calming & because they remind me of a spa they have felt luxurious to use.

Now I've only been using the products for just over a couple of weeks so can't yet comment on the claim that 'after 4 weeks the skin's radiance is revived & skin appears smoother' but I can definitely see the difference on my winter skin that's been exposed to all winter's harsh elements when running first thing of a morning without any cream or barrier.  Plus I've previously not used a cream on my dĂ©colletĂ© but I shall definitely be continuing as it's something that I've been thinking I should start doing recently anyway & I just love the jellified feeling of this cream.

As to whether I will continue with the products, having already been in love with my existing skin care routine I think I shall probably use this range for periods when I feel my skin needs additional hydration such as certain times during the winter & also during & after our summer holidays but I can certainly recommend it.  So if you're thinking about changing your regime then I'd definitely give this one a go, in fact I've just recommended it to my mum!

Back to today & I'm dressing up my Kettlewell ruched skirt & tee.

So ladies has anyone tried The Body Shop's Oils of Life range?  If so I'd love to hear your thoughts.  Perhaps you've been thinking about it but like me put off by the word 'oil'.  If so then don't be as the products are really lovely on the skin & don't leave a greasy/oil feel at all & a little really does go a long way.

Right I'm off to tackle my 'to do' list for work.  Have a lovely day & remember you can still get 25% off with free postage & delivery at Boden, see here & use code K6W6 at checkout.

I'll be back in the morning.

WIWT - Ruching With A Biker

Morning ladies I'm going for something a little bit different today & I'm styling up a couple of pieces I've been lucky enough to have been sent from Kettlewell Colours.

The pieces I have been sent are this lovely soft cotton 'V' neck t-shirt, which has drop shoulder cap sleeves with gathered yoke detailing on the back & is available in a whole host of lovely colours.

Kettlewell Colours Cara V Neck Tee

And this double layer ruched t-shirt skirt that's also available in pebble grey, colbalt blue, antique teal, mocha & black.

Kettlewell Colours Ruched Skirt

I was instantly drawn to these two pieces, as if like me you've ever looked at some of Baukjen's ruched t-shirt dresses & been tempted but then worried about them being too clingy or showing unwanted lumps & bumps I thought being separates these items would be more forgiving.  Plus of
course more versatile too as they can so easily be worn with other items in our wardrobes.

So for their first outing I'm teaming my new t-shirt & ruched skirt with my leather biker & adding a wrap around belt to give a bit for definition at my waist & tie the two pieces together so they look like a dress.

My Midlife Fashion, Kettlewell colours cara v neck t shirt, kettlewell colours ruched skirt, leather wrap belt, mango block heel ankle boots, zara leather biker jacket

Biker Jacket -  Zara
Bracelets - Ashiana
Belt - Zara
Ankle Boots - Mango

Styling A Skirt & Tee, My Midlife Fashion, Shop My Style, Marks and Spencer faux leather biker jacket, kettlewell colours cara v neck t shirt, kettlewell colours ruched skirt, hudson kiver ankle boots, baukjen leather wrap belt

Biker Jacket - Marks & Spencer £55
Belt - Baukjen £69
Ankle Boots - Hudson £90

In terms of sizing I went for my normal size (small) in both items & neither item is too clingy.  The t-shirt falls beautifully so there's no unwanted tightness around my middle & yes the skirt fits the shape of my body but it doesn't feel skin tight or make me feel too self conscious.  Plus both items are extremely well made out of the softest modal jersey & the ruching does hide & flatter the bits we want hidden from view.

Plus I'm also planning on teaming the skirt with my stripe 'v' neck tee I featured the other week & of course the outfit will be perfect come the warmer months when I can ditch the tights & pair with a simple flat pair of sandals & my tan saddle bag.

So has anyone else been tempted by a similar style dress but never clicked the button for fear of feeling too exposed?  If so I can highly recommend these two pieces - definitely worth a try in my book.

Have a lovely day & I'll see you in the morning.

Summer Tops & WIWT

Morning ladies I thought we'd look at summer tops today & one look that I love & simply can't get enough of is pretty white tops.  In fact I think I might be slightly addicted to this type of top as it's simply perfect for pairing with denim - whether that be jeans, cut offs or even a denim skirt.  Not to mention khaki cargo trousers, smarter cigarette pants, or even toughened up with a biker jacket - the possibilities are endless & for me there's something very fresh about this look.  Paired with the simpliest of accessories it just shouts sunshine & lazy summer days.

Needless to say the high street is awash with lots to tempt us....in fact I may have already added a few new tops of this style to my collection including this beauty I recently spotted in Zara & featured on Instagram the other week.

Zara Lace Top

The trouble with this type of top is not only are there various styles (cami, sleeveless, short sleeved, full length sleeves) there are also lots of variations (broderie, lace, crochet, embroidery) too which makes them even more tempting & the kind of top you just can't have too many of!

Here's just a selection of beauties currently on the high street that are calling my name.

Summer Tops, My Midlife Fashion, Mango Embroidered Blouse, Mango Embroidered Panel Top, Mint Velvet Lace Tie Back layer Top, Warehouse ruffle neck shell top, warehouse cut work top, oasis mini frill shell top. fat face burnham top, Miss Selfridge Embroidered Crochet cami, Studio 8 Jemima floral top, marks and spencer pure cotton frilled trim blouse, marks and spencer pure cotton schiffi embroidered blouse, Miss selfridge lace overlay t shirt, mint velvet boho wrap knit blouse, mint velvet lace layer t shirt, mango embroidered top, mint velvet victorians top, mango lace blouse, boden sleeveless broderie top, next lace off the shoulder top, marks and spencer pure cotton broderie blouse

Back to today & I'm breaking out some new Zara jeans I managed to snag in their mid-season sale which update a classic look.
