Taking A Look At Charlotte Tilbury's New Mascara & WIWT - Stripes With A Pop Of Red

Happy Bank Holiday Friday ladies :-)  I don't know about you but I'm loving the thought of a long weekend - sheer & utter bliss.  But before I get on to today's outfit I wanted to talk mascara.

Now it's no secret that I'm a HUGE Charlotte Tilbury fan, (see here for my everyday make up routine), so when I noticed that she had recently launched a new mascara that is claimed to give a 'false-lash effect' it was on my shopping list to try when my Full Fat Lashes ran out.  But luckily for me I haven't had to wait that long as I was lucky enough to receive a sample of the new mascara in the post.

So what's different about the new mascara?  Well it's formula is designed to extend your lashes & create up to 13 x more volume in just 3 coats.  Plus Charlotte goes as far as to claim that it doesn't crack, clump or drop - all in all a perfect sounding mascara right?!  Heck it even contains ingredients to help stimulate hair follicle growth not to mention nourish, protect & strengthen the lashes & the brush contains a mixture of bristles of differing sizes to ensure that every last lash receives a coating.

Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Mascara

Now I thought the best way of seeing if this new mascara was worth the hype was to compare the two mascaras & wear one on one eye & the other on the other eye.  So on the below pictures I've got the Full Fat Lashes on my left eye & the Legendary Lashes on my right.

My Midlife Fashion, Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Mascara

Obviously it's difficult to show the full difference without super close up pictures & without any high tech software to Photoshop the pictures this is as close as the camera was getting!  But hopefully you can see there is a real difference between the two mascaras & I'm only wearing two coats & not the 3 coats of the Legendary Lashes that Charlotte recommends.  It most certainly lives up to the claim of extending & adding volume to my lashes & is perfect for days when I want to add more definition to my lashes.

I had originally thought that it would make a great evening mascara but if I'm honest after wearing for a couple of days I'm completely hooked & can see this becoming highly addictive & being my only mascara once my Full Fat Lashes runs out as who doesn't want thicker, fuller & longer lashes as it's so much more feminine & flattering.

Back to what I'm wearing & I'm going for a bit of French theme for today's inspiration, although you'll be glad to know I've resisted stringing some garlic round my neck to finish the look off ;-)

So has anyone else tried Charlotte's new mascara & become hooked like myself?  Or perhaps you're a devotee of her Full Fat Lashes & not even tempted to try the new one?  Or maybe you swear by another brand of mascara?  As always I'd love to hear your thoughts & if you use one mascara for both day & evening or as Charlotte would say 'dial it up' for an evening.

Plus if you've been waiting for Boden's discount week to get round to their holiday shop you're in luck - click here & use code 4T3X at checkout to take advantage of the offer.  Also Clarks have just launched 20% off all women's full priced sandals, see here & use code BEACH16.

I don't know about you but a three day weekend is a great excuse to get that cork popping......happy wine/bubble o'clock & I'll be back in the morning.

  1. Just to clarify when you say "your left eye" do you mean your actual left eye or your left eye as we look at the photograph? Thanks

    1. Hi Nicky it's my actual left eye, so as you look at the pictures it's on the right :-)

    2. Thanks very much Jane. It might just be me but I think your left eye looks better which is the old mascara if I've understood correctly.

    3. If you mean my actual left eye Nicky that's the new one....it's a bit confusing isn't it which is my left but looking at the picture it's the one on the right......if that makes sense lol!

    4. Thanks, Jane, that is clear now but I think you may have wrongly labelled them above as you say " So on the below pictures I've got the Full Fat Lashes on my left eye & the Legendary Lashes on my right. " if the Full Fat lashes is the old mascara. Sorry to go on so much but I do want to get it right. You are being very patient with me.

    5. No worries Nicky I'm meaning my left eye as you look at the photos (old mascara Full Fat Lashes).....which I should have added so sorry for the confusion. Hope this helps but if in doubt email me & I can send you images cropped showing which is which.
      Enjoy your Saturday.

  2. I think they both look good.....I am going to have to give her mascara a try, its one of the few I haven't tried.....I have been using an Eyeko blue mascara and really liked it, the other week I bought a new Rimmel one as it was boasting how good it was and I hate it, its not very oftern I go for a mascara that cheaper that £10 but I thought ..Ohhh what the heck !!! and it was ' What the heck !!' ha ha .....p.s loving the stripey French look....I am the same today but with the neckerchief xx

    1. You don't know until you try do you Donna & thank goodness the Rimmel one wasn't expensive. I've not heard of Eyeko so will definitely keep an eye out, although I'm truly hooked on Charlotte Tilbury ones. Although I don't think they're waterproof but I've never been a fan of waterproof mascaras as I find they can be a bit clumpy & hard to remove.
      Have a lovely weekend.

    1. Can you believe it Lotty but I don't think I've ever tried any of Clinique's products....something I may have to investigate in the future perhaps!

    1. I'd definitely recommend it Helen. I've yet to try the 3 coats as recommended but even with just 2 there's a considerable difference without looking too thick & coated.
      Happy Bank Holiday.
