Capsule Wardrobe Pieces - What Would You Choose + WIWT

Morning ladies so I've got a question to ask you, what 5 pieces would you choose if you were asked to pick 5 items of clothing to form part of your capsule collection?

This was a question I found myself being asked by Miele & initially I thought oh that's easy!  However, when I started to think a little more about my pieces it became obvious that it's quite hard to limit it to just 5 items.  But after a couple of hours *days!* deliberating I came up with the above 5 items.

So why did I pick these 5?

Well firstly the classic navy blazer, this is something I don't think my wardrobe has ever been without since I did my first work experience in a solicitors office at the age of 13.  It really is a true workhorse of any wardrobe - dressed down with jeans, a breton & trainers for everyday running around, smarten up with cigarette pants, a round neck cashmere jumper & ballet pumps for the office or team with leather leggings & a cami for date night.  The possibilities are endless & this J Crew one ticks all the right buttons - tailored, timeless & with brass buttons to help lift the navy & add some interest, you really couldn't ask for any more in a blazer.

The second item I picked was the classic white shirt.  Another wardrobe 'must have' that can easily lead to me justifying a few variations on the theme.  Perfect for pairing with distressed boyfriend jeans & a biker for everyday life as much as it is for teaming with a pencil skirt or cigarette pants for work not to mention ideal as a beach cover up come the warmer months.  Of course being a classic you're not short of choice but in the end I picked this slightly tailored one from Baukjen, that is gorgeously soft & drapes perfectly.

Next I decided to pick an accessory that has the benefit of going with lots of different outfits.  I think we probably all have a few scarves in our wardrobe & know the benefits of throwing one on to inject a bit of colour & take an outfit from ordinary to less ordinary.  Plus of course come the winter months they're probably not far from our necks on a daily basis, not only from a fashion point of view but from a practical level in terms of warmth.  So when we wear some thing so often, a timeless special piece can be a great investment.  I'm really loving the colour red for injecting a splash of colour into my mainly black, white, grey & navy wardrobe & who can resist the odd star or two?!

For my fourth item it had to be a statement piece of knitwear.  Something that would add an extra level of interest to the simplest of outfits, that is iconic & timeless whilst ideal for injecting a bit of fun & some of the latest trends into wardrobe classics.  I've had my eye on this jumper for a long time as I just love the fact that it's pretty understated in terms of the slogan not being too out there & of course the fact that it bears my name was always going to draw me in!

And finally a stylish pair of trousers - something that can be paired with tailored classics as well as dressed down & worn all year long.  These trousers will be ideal for teaming with the blazer as much as they will for pairing with a leather biker jacket.  Again for me it's all in the detailing, so as soon as I spotted this pair with the brass buttons & slightly kick flare leg, which are ideal for wearing with block heel ankle boots, trainers or ballet pumps, which is pretty much my entire shoe collection the button was clicked!

Now I've been set the challenge by Miele to invest in my 5 picks & to share over the course of the next 7 days how I would  style these pieces with my existing wardrobe & also to test drive their W1 washing machine & T1 tumber dryer & see if their claim to 'wash the daily unwashable' really is true!

Of course I appreciate I've been really lucky to choose the pieces I have but if you'd like to invest in more purse friendly options of my 5 picks take a look at this selection below.
