What To Wear For A Night Out + WIWT - All Blue

My Midlife Fashion, One shoulder top

Morning ladies today I thought it would be useful to talk going out outfits.

We've recently had a couple of nights out & the rise in temperatures meant I was able to wear a couple of new tops that are a similar style & so easy to wear.  As you can see from the above picture I'm talking one shoulder tops.  Which are ideal for teaming with a pair of skinny jeans & heels for a simple stylish look that requires little thought but still manages to look put together & elegant.

I kept both of my looks really simple & understated & let the tops do the talking but you could easily throw on a few bracelets for a bit of interest.  Plus if you're heading off to somewhere that requires something a little dressier than jeans these tops would equally look amazing with some leather trousers or cigarette pants as much as they would a maxi skirt.

As I've already mentioned I found both of these outfits incredibly easy to style & they felt great to wear.  Plus if you take a cashmere throw with you just in case it turns cool you won't feel cold either.

I consider both of these tops to be real timeless additions to my wardrobe & providing I'm able to keep on top of the old bingo wings I'm planning on wearing these for years to come.

In fact one shoulder tops are having a real revival at the moment & we're spoilt for choice on the high street.  Not only are they perfect for a night out, I'm also thinking ahead as a possible option for Christmas/New Years Eve parties & of course they're also ideal for packing for summer holidays.  Just team with a maxi skirt or denim cut offs & you've got a great timeless look.

As I've already mentioned there's lots of variations on the theme currently on the high street & I've included my favourite below.  As always just click on any of the individual images for further details.

Back to today & I'm feeling a blue vibe.

So ladies what are your thoughts?  Are you loving the one shoulder trend this season & been busy 'clicking that button'?  Or perhaps it's something you're not comfortable wearing, preferring to keep your arms under wraps?  Maybe you've spotted something in today's post which is tempting you to dip your toe into the trend?

Plus if you didn't take advantage of Boden's recent discount week you can still grab up to 30% off here, just remember to use code 6T2C at checkout.  Also don't forget I'll be ordering some more of the hyaluronic gel & triple retinol cream in the next few days, which both cost £35.95 each plus postage.  Any questions or to place an order please contact me here.

As always I enjoy reading your thoughts & comments.

Have a lovely day, hug your loved ones tight & sending love & hugs to all those affected by the dreadful events in London.

Stay safe & see you tomorrow.

  1. Hi there, love the navy top you're wearing in the first pic but can't see any details. Can I ask where its from? Thanks, Vanessa

    1. Hi Vanessa it's from Marks & Spencer but it's sold out online, although you may get lucky & track it down in store using their search facility. This is the link http://rstyle.me/n/cm2iems73e Hope you manage to track one down.

  2. H Jane , any suggestions for large breasted women when wearing one shoulder tops . I'd love to be able to wear them but finding bras that have removable straps seems to be impossible as I'd need to keep one strap on as completely strapless just don't work for me . Any suggestions welcome ! Thanks Gaille

    1. Hi Gaille have you tried wearing a removable bra with just the one strap? I know I'm not large chested but I wear this one without the straps & it seems to stay put so it might be worthwhile trying it with one strap attached http://tidd.ly/49ced3e8 Alternatively what about a multiway bra?
      Hope this helps.
