Gold Button Jacket (also available in black & camel)

Morning ladies with two weeks to go until Mother's Day I thought today would be the perfect opportunity to think ahead & share with you my gift ideas.

Whether you're looking for inspiration as a treat for your mother, a wish list to send to hubby or even a gift to yourself there's lots of inspiration at Marks & Spencer.

From the more traditional gift of their Pink Sparkling Wine & Chocolates Gift Set or even their Lovely Surprise Gift Box, which contains everything a mum needs for some me time with a few treats.  To something a little more personal depending on their interests.  I've split my top picks into three categories - the fashionista mum, which contains just a few of my favourite items that have recently hit the store.  The interior loving mum with gift ideas to add that little bit of luxury to the home & the beauty junkie mum which includes some of my personal favourite products as well as a few I'd like to try.

So lets start with the mum who loves fashion.  As you can see from the items I've selected there's some fantastic stylish pieces coming into store for the new season.  My top 'must have' would have to be the stylish & very Balmain inspired navy double breasted blazer with gold button detailing - love, love, love! Plus it's even also available in black & camel too.  Just perfect for teaming with a breton or broderie anglaise blouse & jeans for Spring.  As would the boucle cropped jacket or if you fancy adding a splash of colour to your wardrobe then how stunning is the red belted coat? #verytempted ;-)

Interior Decor Mum

looks 1, my midlife fashion, marks and spencer, mothers day gift ideas, marks and spencer dragonfly embroidered cushion, marks and spencer fleur d'orangier scented triple wick candle, marks and spencer glass bulb vase, marks and spencer candle snuffer, marks and spencer green birdhouse, marks and spencer large glass cake stand, marks and spencer pom pom throw, marks and spencer fig 100ml diffulser, marks and spencer tall foxtail

Tall Foxtail

For mums that love their homes I don't think you'll find many who don't love a stylish & scented candle or room diffuser & it's certainly something you can never say you have enough of!  Or what about a plant that can be kept forever.  I actually have the Tall Foxtail in our en suite & it adds a lovely fresh touch, plus being artificial means it's never going to fade & die.  Or for the mum who loves to bake then the glass cake stand would make the perfect present for displaying all her baking wares.  However, if your mum is more of a gardener then how about the stylish cottage birdhouse.  Or if you love nothing better than snuggling with your mum on the sofa what about the pom-pom throw for a stylish & practical treat.

Beauty Junkie Mum

Looks 2, my midlife fashion, marks and spencer, mothers day gift guide, marks and spencer absolute time capsules, nails inc gift set, marks and spencer dynamic duo lip and nails duo, utan medium tanning body lotion, saving face kit, marks and spencer make up brush set, marks and spencer splash of colour nail collection, neom real luxury 3 wicks candle, emma hardie holiday heroes set

If your mum (or you) is more of a beauty junkie & has a soft spot for a new beauty product or two then there's lots to choose from including my favourite ever fake tan for sun kissed skin.   Together with a saving face kit that contains the eye pads I use on a weekly basis.  Together with skin capsules, a selection of nail polishes, luxury travel products or even a gift set that will help get our feet sandal ready for summer.

Now as well as having my eye on the new into store clothing I've featured above I've also added to my wardrobe with a couple of clothes purchases bought with a gift voucher that was kindly sent to me by Marks & Spencer.

So what have I 'clicked the button' on?  Well firstly despite Spring fast approaching it's going to be a while before we loose the cold air, especially first thing of a morning.  So with this in mind my first item is perfect for adding a feel of Spring to my wardrobe, whilst still keeping me warm.

As you already know by now I'm a huge fan of a cashmere jumper or two so it won't come as any surprise to hear that this jumper immediately caught my eye.  I've sized up a size with this as I didn't want the jumper to be too fitted & I would say the colour, which is bluebell, is a really accurate description - blue with a hint of lilac, a colour that's set to be huge this coming season & so fresh looking when paired with denim & a pretty white top.

My second pick is something I featured in last month's post (see here) & just couldn't get out of my mind, which was their satin maxi skirt.  Perfect for wearing to a special occasion but equally it will work just as well with a simple knit & trainer combo for more casual days & it even has pockets :-)

For me it was the bow detailing that I particularly fell for.  When it arrived what wasn't apparent from the pictures online is that it is wrap over in design, which isn't an issue as the skirt is lined & this together with the stiffness of the satin fabric means the skirt falls perfectly as you can see from the photo below.  I went for my normal size in this & would say it's pretty true to size in terms of fit & also  a perfect length in terms of flexibility of being able to dress the skirt up or down.  I'm 5'7" & the skirt falls below mid calf on me.

So lots of ideas but you'll find even more inspiration here.  So ladies how do you spend your Mother's Day?  Generally our son always cooks lunch on the day & we try to spend the day chilling & watching a film or two all together.  The other thing I love about Mothering Sunday is the fact that there's generally a strong feeling of Spring in the air & those brighter days & blue skies as well as the never ending love of all mothers is definitely something to be celebrated.

Enjoy your Sunday ladies & as always I'll be back in the morning.

  2. Love the colour of the blue jumper- it looks nicer on you than on the website. I went to check it out in my local M&S (which happens to be Worcester) and they don't stock this range. They advised looking online, but by the time I got home this afternoon, it was sold out in my size. Please could you offer some feedback to M & S regarding these sponsored type of posts as this is not the first time this has happened. I am wondering if your blog is just super popular or that they aren't carrying that many in stock? It is frustrating to see lovely things on the blog and not even be able to check them out on the day of the blog being published. A frustrated reader! Do enjoy seeing what you have put together though, so look forward to future posts :)

    1. Morning Mimi I'm so sorry to hear you're having trouble locating the jumper. I've actually just checked online & all sizes are now back in stock :-) Plus if you'd rather they also do the same colour in a crew neck jumper too. Depending on the fit you are looking for you might also want to try a size larger as I went up a size with mine for a slightly looser fit.
      Hope this helps.
