I generally workout 6 days a week - pilates 5 times a week, running now just twice a week, weights 5 times a week & cycling 4 times a week. I also find it a great stress reliever too as when I'm exercising I can only think about getting through my run/session so its brilliant for clearing my mind & it makes it stop whirling!<br />Your exercise routine sounds very professional & thorough & you obviously know a lot more about what you're doing than me. I missed this when you posted it, but I ...Hi Jane. I missed this when you posted it, but I found it this evening. What a great workout! You have an amazing physique. :) I am one of those people that loves to exercise. I would be in the gym 2 hours a day if I could, but that is not my real life. :) I do go in for an hour and a half 5 days a week, where I do 30 minutes of cardio (stepper, rowing, bike, and/or treadmill), followed by about an hour of strength training. On leg day, I do 4 sets of squats, 4 sets of walking lunges, deadlifts, leg extensions, hamstring curls, standing calves, seated calves, glutes, squat press, and usually glutes. I do legs two days a week, but the 2nd time is easier exercises, shoulders and cardio another day, chest with biceps and abs on a third day, triceps and abs on a 4th day, and back & abs another day. I don't do enough abs, just a couple things each time. I take one full day off a week, and a 6th day is just cardio...usually treadmill intervals. It can be really difficult to build and maintain muscle as we enter our late 40's, but I'm not going down without a fight. :) I enjoy it, and hope to still be doing this in my 50's, 60's, 70's, and so on. I will be turning 50 soon. :( I love your style and really enjoyed reading your fitness routine. Your blog is my favorite. The thought of just bending to pick something up let alone walk down the stairs was agony. I'm always amazed each year on our return from holiday that despite still running & doing sit ups etc because I haven't done my lunges parts of my legs still ache for the first few days. I had a knee problem & it was all down to wearing the wrong kind of trainers for my style of running.
