March's Wardrobe Classic & WIWT

For this month's wardrobe classic it really was a no brainer as this is an item I LOVE & own one or two *coughs* of!!  What am I talking about - yup you've guess it, it's a classic blazer & no wardrobe should be without a stylish navy one.

If you don't already own one, a navy blazer is a fantastic place to start with your love affair of jackets - classic, chic, timeless & stylish not to mention hard working.  What more could you ask for?!!  Perfect for wearing to the office with a simple shift dress or capri pants but equally as useful for wearing on a night out with the girls/other half - team with skinny jeans, fabulous heels a statement clutch & a simple cami & you'll have a fantastic outfit that screams style & sophistication & is one of my favourite fall back looks.  Equally style with boyfriend jeans, trainers & a simple 'V' neck t-shirt & you've got a great off duty stylish look too.

So with Spring starting to raise it's beautiful sunny head (apart from today!!) let's get on with my picks from the high street this season.  Starting with a brand you know I love & who constantly keep bringing out stunning jackets/blazers to test my pathetically weak will!

The below blazer is everything you want in a navy one that's going to stand the test of time - single breasted, tailored, with gold buttons & a textured fabric to add that little bit of interest so you can keep the rest of your outfit understated & simple without looking like you've taken your office jacket & thrown it on with your jeans.

Zara Structured Blazer

If however, you're not a lover of brass/gold coloured button then Marks have a great simple single breasted blazer at a great price.

Marks and Spencer Notch Lapel Double Welt Pockets Jacket

Or how about this jersey one from Next.  Perfect for a more casual feel if a fitted blazer feels too much like office wear for your liking.  On an aside note I'm loving the great top they've teamed it with - I may have to investigate this further - image it teamed with boyfriend fit jeans & some trainers for an effortless weekend look, just stunning.

Next Bonded Jersey Blazer

Another classic single breasted one from Mango, which could so easily have the buttons changed if you prefer this slightly loose fit to the one from Zara.

Mango Classic Cotton Blend Blazer

Jumping up a huge notch now to this classic from Jigsaw.  Yes a lot more expensive but a navy blazer really is going to last the test of time so on a cost per wear basis it's going to work out at pennies!

Jigsaw London Fit Gaberdine Jacket

As would this next blazer, which is slightly more fitted at the waist & shorter in length.

Damsel In A Dress Norse Jacket

Of course there are also some stunning variations on the navy blazer front, that I just had to include a few that caught my eye, as equally they also make hard working additions to your wardrobe.  Plus with navy being such a great neutral a girl can never have too many can she?!!  ;-)

This first wool jacket from Next reminds me of my hot pink one from Boden.  Again a wardrobe staple that will stand the test of time & being wool is also going to be lovely & warm too.

Next Premium Wool Jacket

I just love this Jigsaw textured jacket, similar to one that's hanging in my wardrobe from Banana Republic.  The gold edging just makes this that little bit different whilst still retaining a classic look.

Jigsaw Textured Cotton Jacket

And finally how about this beauty?!  Yes a lot of money but oh so, very beautiful - navy, jacket & boucle it had me at navy, just stunning!

Marella Floc Boucle Jacket

Finishing with my outfit for today - simple stripes for a casual chill out day at home :-)

So what do you think?  Are you a lover of a tailored navy blazer?  Do you own one & live in it or maybe you have one hanging in your wardrobe but never know how to style it?  Or is it just too work related for you ever to dream of wearing one other than to the office?

As always I love reading your thoughts & comments.

Have a fab Sunday :-)

  1. Hi Jane, I recently discovered your blog via Susie So So :) I'm really inspired by your style and this post made me consider to swap out my trusted black blazer for a navy one. Navy is probably a better color for spring and less harsh on my skin tone, too.

    1. Hi Karianne thanks for stopping by & your lovely comment.
I seem to swing from wearing black to navy back to black again - probably depending on the weather. I definitely think navy is less harsh on the skin & more flattering than black.

  2. Love your outfit today. Funnily enough I have been trawling the net today for a navy blazer. The Zara is my favourite but is it worth the £70 price tag? Has anyone seen it in the flesh so to speak?

    1. Great minds Alex :-) As for the Zara jacket this little beauty maybe hanging in my wardrobe! I love it as it's a real classic style & the textured fabric just adds that bit of interest, although I can see it might catch if you're not careful. It's quite a tight fit so if you tend to be between sizes it might be worth ordering a couple of sizes so you can get the best fit for you.

  3. I think you have identified a gaping hole in my wardrobe, as while I have lots of jackets I don't have a navy blazer.....that said the Jigsaw textured cotton jacket is the one I'd want to bag the most from your picks! I am off to investigate! Enjoy your lazy Sunday afternoon Jane! xx

  5. A navy blazer is definitely a wardrobe staple isn't it Joanna. I love a linen blazer but always get put off at the thought of all the creasing.
