WIWT - Ruching With A Biker

Morning ladies I'm going for something a little bit different today & I'm styling up a couple of pieces I've been lucky enough to have been sent from Kettlewell Colours.

The pieces I have been sent are this lovely soft cotton 'V' neck t-shirt, which has drop shoulder cap sleeves with gathered yoke detailing on the back & is available in a whole host of lovely colours.

And this double layer ruched t-shirt skirt that's also available in pebble grey, colbalt blue, antique teal, mocha & black.

I was instantly drawn to these two pieces, as if like me you've ever looked at some of Baukjen's ruched t-shirt dresses & been tempted but then worried about them being too clingy or showing unwanted lumps & bumps I thought being separates these items would be more forgiving.  Plus of
course more versatile too as they can so easily be worn with other items in our wardrobes.

So for their first outing I'm teaming my new t-shirt & ruched skirt with my leather biker & adding a wrap around belt to give a bit for definition at my waist & tie the two pieces together so they look like a dress.

Ankle Boots - Mango

Styling A Skirt & Tee, My Midlife Fashion, Shop My Style, Marks and Spencer faux leather biker jacket, kettlewell colours cara v neck t shirt, kettlewell colours ruched skirt, hudson kiver ankle boots, baukjen leather wrap belt

Biker Jacket - Marks & Spencer £55
Belt - Baukjen £69
Ankle Boots - Hudson £90

In terms of sizing I went for my normal size (small) in both items & neither item is too clingy.  The t-shirt falls beautifully so there's no unwanted tightness around my middle & yes the skirt fits the shape of my body but it doesn't feel skin tight or make me feel too self conscious.  Plus both items are extremely well made out of the softest modal jersey & the ruching does hide & flatter the bits we want hidden from view.

Plus I'm also planning on teaming the skirt with my stripe 'v' neck tee I featured the other week & of course the outfit will be perfect come the warmer months when I can ditch the tights & pair with a simple flat pair of sandals & my tan saddle bag.

So has anyone else been tempted by a similar style dress but never clicked the button for fear of feeling too exposed?  If so I can highly recommend these two pieces - definitely worth a try in my book.

Have a lovely day & I'll see you in the morning.

  1. The skirt really didn't appeal when I looked at the photo but seeing it on you I really like it, I have always avoided this style because of the clingy factor but maybe I should be brave and try it. Pauline

    1. Hi Pauline that was always my fear with similar style dresses & skirts as I'd hate to feel too sucked in & as if the item of clothing was moulded to me but this skirt really isn't too clingy.
If you're tempted I'd give it a go as Kettlewell are currently offering free postage & returns. Sometimes you don't know until you try. If you do order please let me know how you get on.
