Now I can't think I'm the only one not longing for a bit of blue sky, sunshine & a rise in temperature & with the cold spell we have been having boy do we need it. I for one am totally fed up of wearing boots & winter coats & can be found longingly look at my jackets hanging up in the wardrobe. I can't wait to wear them, especially the ones I bagged for a bargain in the sales! But with the weather forecast predicting MORE snow it's not looking likely in the coming days.
Now don't get me wrong normally I'm more than happy to panic buy with the rest of them, going wild in the aisles not to mention getting giddy with excitement at the forecast of snow & the possibility of being snowed in (think 4 year old trying to sleep Christmas Eve & you've got the picture) but even I'm now saying enough is enough!
So having tired of all my winter jumpers (not to mention thermals & the need to have a hot water bottle permanently strapped to my tum, making me look at least 6 months pregnant but without the glow) I have turned to accessorises to try & liven up my outfits.
I have always loved jewellery (for which I blame my Grandma & the countless hours shared 'dressing up' in her clothes & jewellery) & I'm a bit of a magpie for anything sparkly, not to mention my love of scarves - my collection of which seems to be growing rapidly. But over the last couple of years my collection in shoes & bags also seems to be increasing at an alarming rate. A fact I'm sure you're not surprised at after my purchase of three handbags in so many weeks!
So with a rapidly increasing collection I faced the problem of storage & where to put all these items. Let alone the need to avoid the possibility of giving hubby the perfect reason to declare I'd got more than enough shoes/scarves/bags/jewellery etc.
So after some serious brain thinking on my part I came up with a genius (or at least this is how I sold it to hubby) quick & cheap brainwave, of putting rails & eyelet hooks up on the inside doors of our wardrobes on which to hang my jewellery & by threading some string between two hooks drape my scarves & belts. It's sheer genius I can tell you, because now not only can my bags go in the drawers were all my accessories went I can now see all my scarves/necklaces/belts so it makes it easier to choose what to wear & also means I'm now wearing more of my accessories because they're so easy to hand! And for those of you who are scratching your heads trying to picture what I mean here's the pictures!
Now I know there appears to be no room for any more accessories, a fact of which I would happily agree, until of course I spot a new scarf/belt/necklace but there are a couple of things which may have caught my eye this week which I feel would just be too useful to resist!
Starting with this fab belt from H&M which costs £7.99. Now I love this belt for two reasons, one the stud detail & two its elasticated so can expand as you eat! I do have another black elasticated studded belt which I brought from Zara a couple of years ago & in fact can be seen wearing last week on my blog, but they only sold that particular belt in one size so whilst it's great as it can be worn on my hips or waist the H&M belt fits me just that bit better on my waist & is a little bit less 'in your face' on the stud front.
The second item is a fab scarf from Zara for £19.99 (well I'd be suffering serious withdrawal symptoms if I hadn't made a purchase from here all week!). It's a lovely sun shining yellow with an injection of navy & white which will look great in the summer & in the meantime while we're tapping our feet impatiently waiting for the warmer weather will injection some brightness into my wardrobe without the need to shed layers or warmth!

WOW! I cannot believe how many scarves you have! Sorry .. I probably sound like your husband now, lol! I've done something similar to store necklaces, but hadn't thought of doing that for scarves. Very clever. Love, love, love your final outfit. And happy Mother's Day to you too! Helen
ReplyDeleteHi Helen hope you had a good Mother's Day. You can never have too many scarves in my book!!! Jx
DeleteGreat idea for the scaves...I have a similar amount..eek! And I had to smile when I saw we both have the same three Mumsnet animal print scarves (tho yours may very well be genuine LV - I apologise now if they are - from a distance it's hard to see!). Happy Mother's Day and have a great week, Avril x
ReplyDelete*scaRves* even!!
DeleteHi Avril no not LV unfortunately :( Hope you had a great Mother's Day Jx
DeleteGreat post, love your storage solutions for things that normally get shoved in a drawer and you then forget what you've got.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo, I needed to take control of the situation!!! Jx
DeleteI am so jealous of how neat you store your scarves! Mine are just on a hanger in the wardrobe and it's a right old mess!
ReplyDeleteI tried to order that pearl necklace from Zara but they've sold out online
Fiona
Fiona they need to be stored relatively neatly otherwise the wardrobe doors won't close lol!!! I'l keep my eyes posted in regard to the necklace and let you know if I spot one Jx
DeleteHi there! I love accessories too, particularly belts but my weakness is scarves! You have a lovely selection and all very orderly too!
ReplyDeleteThanks My Style, my trouble will be what to do with any more that I get as running out of room but I can't resist a gorgeous scarf :)
DeleteI love you blog, I am rushing off to watch rugby (in the rain..joy of joys) this will be my treat to curl up with a well earned mug of HOT tea when I get back!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your lovely comments. Hope you didn't get too wet watching the rugby & you enjoy catching up on my blog Jx
DeleteOh my goodness - how slim and trim are you? And how many scarves? Sorry, I don't have room to talk - I think I have an equal amount but have fallen out of love with many of mine in the last year and am now trying to reign back. I find myself wearing the same ones most of the time so at least I know which ones are definite keepers.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly have an eye for the accessories whereas I am just dreadful and always forget to put things on. To the point where I don't even think about putting them of any more and think nothing more of it.
And from what I can see so far on your blog - I don't think you're in any mid life fashion crisis at all!
Sue I wasn't wearing my accessories half as much before when they were all stuffed into a drawer but seeing them every time I go into my wardrobe has definitely inspired me. And there's still plenty of time for lots of fashion disasters I've got to get my leopard print trousers out yet!!!
