A Little Black Something For Your Wardrobe

Ok so, so far I've looked at classic navy blazers & tan accessories as great investment items to purchase in the sales & seeing as I'm trying to only purchase items that can be worn the majority of the year & aren't going to be something I purchase in the sales only to have a few weeks of wear from (yup despite all these storms & rain I'm still positive thinking that come March temperatures are going to be on the up & I'm going to be lounging on the sun lounger....well it's worth a go no?!!!).  So what better investment than a little black dress.

After all a LBD is something that can be dressed up or down, worn with some slinky heels & fab accessories for an all important date night or night out with the girls, as much as it can be teamed with chunky boots, biker jacket & statement scarf for a daytime school run look. Not to mention weddings (yup I'm one of those people that has worn black to a wedding....but in my defence I did accessorise with a colourful stole & bag & why spend money on buying an outfit that I would end up wearing just the once for it to sit forlornly in my wardrobe not being worn?  Although for the record I would never wear white/cream/ivory!!!).

So before these beauties sell out here's a round up of the little black dresses that could so easily find their way into my wardrobe....after all due to it's versatility I certainly have a few different styles already in my wardrobe & they've been 'whispering' to me they'd like a few more friends to join their club too ;-)

First up is this lovely asymmetric peplum dress from ASOS.  I love the fit & length of this dress, which with the neckline brings a fantastic mix of chic & sexy.

This lace midi dress from ASOS also looks stunning & would look amazing dressed down with a distressed denim jacket & biker boots.

I also love the simplicity of this Mango shift dress & think this would look stunning in the warmer months & when on holiday teamed with some fab sandals & bangles.

If the Mango dress is too short for your liking then how about this pencil dress from ASOS, which has been funked up with the faux leather panels.  A great dress for wearing for work or pleasure & would look fab teamed with some stunning heels or shoe boots.

I love this casual shift dress from ASOS too, great for everyday wear & teaming with a denim jacket/cocoon coat with some fab boots.

As you can probably tell from the amount of their dresses that I've included in this post ASOS have some amazing little black dresses in their sale & this jacket dress is no exception.  It reminds me of some coat dresses I used to have many years ago & I think it would make an amazing outfit for a wedding or special occasion & you could so easily change the buttons to gold, pearl or a bit of diamante to really take it up a notch or two.

Now who doesn't need a new maxi dress for holidays & with our impending heat wave (yup still going with the positive thinking!!!) this is such a classic style that I'm extremely tempted to snap this up.  It could so easily be layered with a little denim jacket or cardigan not to mention accessorised with some fab jewellery & would be one of those dresses that you would end up living in.

The cut of this next dress from ASOS is a great style for showing off your shoulders & arms.....I just need to start pumping iron & I'm sorted!!!

Loving this next dress from Oasis for just throwing on.  So easy to dress up or down that it would just be one of those great items of clothing that could just be slung on, on days when you don't have much time to think about what you're wearing & you'd still look amazing.

This shift dress from Mango looks gorgeous & I love the slightly flirty hemline & three quarter length sleeves.

Of course it would have been rude not to have taken a peak at Zara's sales dresses & if you're after a classic little black dress then you couldn't go wrong purchasing this sleeveless dress.  I can just picture this with a stunning pearl necklace & it really would be effortless glamour.  I'm thinking Audrey Hepburn for sure.

One dress that caught my eye at the beginning of the season was this great faux leather shift dress from Tesco & now that it's been reduced to 50% well it would be rude not to try it surely?!!!

Or if you prefer a little less faux leather then how about this dress from Mango?

So are you tempted to invest in an extra little black dress to add to your collection?  Or perhaps you've already clicked the button ;-)

Right off for fire, film, food & drink (can't think of any alcohol beginning with 'F' apart from Flaming Sambuka but I promise I'm not that reckless on a Sunday!!).  Have a fab Sunday & if you fancy showing me some love on Facebook then please click the button at the top on the right hand side.

  1. I actually don't have a single LBD as black just doesn't work for me but these are lovely. Love your winter white outfit and the last outfit with the Breton too. Lynne x
