Saying It With Words - Sweatshirts

So after a successful culling of the wardrobe yesterday, it's only natural to start wanting to fill all the empty space & one thing that I'm totally loving at the moment is sweatshirts.  And since about this time last year my collection in sweatshirts seems to have been increasing at a rapid rate!!!  Now I'm blaming it on the fact that they seem to be breeding on their own (nothing to do with my intervention you understand!! ;-) ) as after tentatively trying one & loving it, then cautiously adding a second I've found that I only have to blink & another has 'magically' appeared in my wardrobe....I tell you these 'Clothes Fairies' have a lot to answer for!!!

Of course my love for sweatshirts could also be put down to having hit the big four-0 as while sweatshirts may be having a come back it also has to be said that they're so damn comfy too.  They could almost be teamed 'a hug in a jumper' as I find their inner fabric so very cosy, which of course could be a very slippery slope to the love of elasticated waists & velcro fastening shoes but fear not I am NOT going down that road anytime soon!!!!

So having conquered my love of plain sweatshirts, which are just so easy for teaming with a shirt, skinnies/boyfriend jeans & either a statement necklace or scarf, a leopard print sweatshirt was purchased at the beginning of Autumn (which will come as no surprise that I love!) it's was of course only time before I embraced the love of the logo sweatshirt too!!!

Not only do I love some of the slogans written on said sweatshirts, I also love the fact that they look gorgeous teamed with a blazer & jeans not to mention quite funky when teamed with a pencil skirt & gorgeous necklace too.

So enough ramblings let's take a peek at my favourite ones at the moment, which I'm naturally hoping might also after the next breeding session magically appear in my wardrobe ;-)

First up is this gorgeous red one from Pop Boutique, I love a splash of red, which I find great for brightening up your outfit all year round.  I also love the design & colour of this logo, which I think would look fab worn over either a white or denim shirt & teamed with some distressed boyfriend jeans & either a pair of trainers or court shoes.

If however, you want to ease yourself in gently to this trend then this next sweatshirt could be just for you, still quite plain but with a simple word design this would look fab teamed with a black faux/leather pencil skirt, white shirt & statement necklace....I'm thinking pearls but a bit of bling wouldn't go amiss either!!

Or how about this monochrome number from Pull & Bear.  Again great for keeping with a monochrome vibe & teaming with black or white jeans but equally stunning when teamed with a bright pair of skinnies too.

Sticking with a similar design but with a logo most of us could probably do with reminding ourselves of is this great one from Mango.

Still on a monochrome theme with this next one but slightly less plain in design is this lovely one from Zoe Karssen.  I can so see this looking gorgeous with either a faux/leather pencil skirt or trousers that my fingers are a twitching.  The fact that it makes reference to New York, a wonderful city that will always hold a special place in my heart after hubby surprised me with a trip to see the bright lights for our tenth wedding anniversary makes it even harder to resist!!  And the fact that it's priced a little higher, well that's something I'm quite happy to ignore ;-)

Staying with monochrome & I love this next sweatshirt from Ganni.  How fab does it look with the gold skirt?!  I absolutely LOVE this!

Stepping away from all things black & white & onto another favourite colour combination of mine is this lovely grey & pink sweatshirt from River Island.  I think it looks just perfect as they've styled it with the longline white shirt & skinny jeans & if teamed with a stunning pair of ballet pumps would encompass everything I look for in an outfit - comfort, style & chicness with a little bit of edge!

Moving onto navy now & I love this next one from Zara so much so that you may recognise from my outfit posts that this baby has already found itself into my wardrobe & is great for teaming with yellow let alone red.

If however, you fancy working the pastel trend as well as the sweatshirt one then this pale green one from Zara may be just what you're looking for.

Or how about this one from Topshop?  I love this delicate shade of pink, it looks so fresh against the white wording & if teamed with a gorgeous shade of denim would look amazing - oh my I can feel another wardrobe birthing any minute ;-)

Sticking with pink but this time a more subdued tone is this pink & grey one from Tesco.  Now I think you might have to use your imagination a little bit with this one but when layered with a shirt & teamed with some distressed boyfriend this could look fab.

And finally I just had to show you this last one, also from Tesco & as far as logos stand I think this may be one that a lot of us might agree on ;-)

So what do you think?  Are you a fellow sweatshirt lover or do you think they're only one step away from the matching sweatpants?!!  I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Finishing with my outfit from today for a comfy Sunday which after the success of my wardrobe culling, is going to be spent tackling the garden....I may not be able to move tomorrow!!!

So are you embarking on the slogan sweatshirt trend this spring or do you think slogans should only be worn by those who are of an age where the number is followed by the word 'teen'?!!!  I'd love to hear your thoughts not to mention how, if you're joining me, how you'll be styling yours.

Have a fab Sunday & see you in the morning.

  6. I bagged the Ganni one a little while back when it came out and I wore it for the bloggy meet a few weeks back. It's lovely and comfy. Didn't know it was selling out already.

And I bagged an APC one in the sale which Joanna from Poppys Style kindly brought over for me as I couldn't get it over here. Now that's dedication to a cause so I think you can safely put me in the I love sweatshirts camp.

Do like the pink one you have on but 1 pink top in the wardrobe is as much as I can handle right now :o)
