Something a little bit different today as I was recently asked my Kaleidoscope to take part in their 'Perfect Race Day' competition for which I had to create a special outfit for a day at the races & say how I'd like to spend the day.
So first things first, what would I wear? Well I'd choose something that I'd not only feel special in for the day ahead but that I could also wear on an every day basis too. So without further ado, here's what I'd wear.
Plus it would come in mighty handy for Ladies Day at Glorious Goodwood, if I was lucky enough to win the competition currently being run by 888Sport. So if you love the outfit as much as I do I'dlove it if you would vote for me to win (pretty please!!!) click here to vote ;-)
As soon as I saw this stunning coat I decided to build my outfit around it as not only is it my favourite shade of red it would also look stunning dressed down with some boyfriend jeans, a classic white shirt & a pair of ballet pumps meaning the coat wouldn't just be sat in my wardrobe waiting for a special occasion to come out to play!
Moving onto the dress & I probably don't need to explain why I chose this do I, considering I'm a major leopard print addict!!! I love the different take on leopard print with the colours not to mention the fact the dress is one of those dresses that would be so easy to wear, not to mention hide a multitude of sins & excess bubbles ;-) Also the splashes of red tie in perfectly with the coat & the dress would also look fab for warmer casual days dressed down with a pair of flat sandals & a denim jacket if an extra layer was required.
Here's how I'd wear the dress for an everyday look.
For shoes I would choose these gorgeous sandals - heeled but not too high to result in sore feet from a long day. Plus of course they have this seasons huge trend of a block heel which would come in pretty handy to ensure I didn't spend the majority of the day trying to stay upright as my heels sank into the grass ;-)
Finally for accessories I'd tie my bag in with my shoes & this stunning leather bag that could either be used as a clutch but dressed down as a cross body bag with the delicate gold chain strap would be perfect. And to finish the outfit off I'd wear this lovely black & white fascinator to add a touch of elegance & this simple gold cuff.
So where would I choose to spend my day at the races? Well it would have to be Ladies Day at Ascot. I've never been but can always remember helping my mum choose her outfit when she & my dad used to attend when I was younger.
Of course I've love to go with my hubby & a close group of friends, ideally travelling together en masse in a minibus where the day would start off as we meant to go on with bubbles & nibbles. The weather would of course be glorious but not too hot & we'd have a day filled with fun & laughter with a delicious picnic & more bubbles. Of course it would be rude not to have the odd flutter whilst we were there & if I could arrange every aspect of my perfect day it would also involve a successful win or two ;-) As well as plenty of people watching & eyeing up all the no doubt gorgeous outfits fellow guests would be wearing & getting lots of ideas & inspiration.
Now back to reality & my outfit for another busy day of work but on the plus side it's Friday AND it's another Bank Holiday weekend - whoop whoop!!!!! Sheer utter bliss :-)

Cheltenham Races which are usually in March so a bit chilly - but after a few slurps of fizz, it soon gets warmer. Love the coat and dress shown in the blog. Would brighten up any day.
ReplyDeleteIt most certainly would wouldn't it! Loving your way of warming up too...I may have to steal that idea *excuse* on the odd occasion ;-)

I've been to the races in wind, rain, sunshine (sometimes all 3 together) and it amazes me how ladies are able to walk around in flimsy little dresses. The red coat is a great addition Jane xx
ReplyDeleteIt always amazes me when I see people in vest tops when there's no sun & a cold wind....oh not to feel the cold!!! With weather like the UK's it's always best to take a jacket/coat & I just love this red one.
DeleteJane xx
Love how you have done your race outfit and then have shown how to wear it everyday Jane!! Just brilliant!! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Michelle, I hate having things I can only wear for best, which is one of the reasons why I chose this jacket & dress as they're both perfect for dressing down too!
DeleteJane xx
