I know I said it last month but boy do these monthly confessionals come round far too quickly!!! Each month I start by saying to the hubby that I don't need anything & am going to be good & each month I miserably fail! Even when I'm trying to be good, hubby will throw a spanner in the works & say that something I was going to send back he thinks I'll regret, so I'm laying some of the blame firmly on his shoulders!!! I also think its safe to say my new rule 'one in, one out' for my wardrobe has seriously failed, although I have got rid of a few other pieces since the main wardrobe culling, including a few of hubby's ;-)
So first purchase of the month needs no introduction & has already been worn several times so is already a winner, plus we all know I had a MAJOR jacket hole in my wardrobe ;-)
After our glorious summer last year & in the hope that we're going to get a repeat this year, (although I'm still waiting for the start of this heatwave that was due to appear around Easter!!!) I noticed I had a serious dress hole in my wardrobe so this month I've started to rectify this problem.
Now I'm generally drawn to fitted, smarter style dresses but wanted to get a few that could literally be thrown on should the weather be glorious or dressed down with an ankle boot/pumps & denim jacket on cooler days.
As soon as I saw this first dress from Zara I knew it would be ideal for dressing up or down & layering on cooler days too. Now when trying the dress on in the changing room I happened by accident to try it on with the keyhole on my back & I must admit I'm quite liking it worn that way to make it appear a bit different, although fellow Zara lovers will no doubt pass me & think I don't realise I've got in on back to front!
One point though is that although it's lined be warned in the right light it's still see-through, so you'll either need to invest in a better underskirt. I shall wear a short waisted one to protect my modesty or of course you could just go all Princess Di on us ;-)
Another dress next & again from Zara. More of a dressier feel & probably something I wouldn't have generally have gone for off the hanger but on it really is very stylish (I instantly thought a bit Victoria Beckham) & personally I think would look much better styled with a heel & I think its going to be one of those dresses that remains in my wardrobe for a long time to come as it's just so elegant! I sized up in this dress as it's very fitted & didn't fancy the idea of people being able to look at me & literally see what I had eaten for breakfast, not to mention my lumps & bumps!!!
Another dress but this time from ASOS. Can you believe up till now I've not owned a leopard print dress?!!! Skirt yes but dress no & it's not for the want of trying believe me but for some reason when I've tried on dresses & shirts as well in a typical leopard print I've just not felt the love. This dress however, is a different story & I just love the colours. Great for dressing up & teaming with a blazer but equally perfect for teaming with some flat sandals & denim jacket.
Moving away from dresses & onto trousers & I couldn't resist these capri length lemon trousers, which are going to be a great alternative to jeans come the brighter & warmer months.
Of course a girl can never have enough tops can she & this draped top from Zara is something that little bit different, let alone easy to wear as it really doesn't need to be teamed with any accessories.
Love the colour of this next top - great for teaming with most things in my wardrobe not to mention leopard print & the draped detailing on the one side makes it just that little bit different to a normal round neck t-shirt. Plus it's also available in black if you're interested!
This next top incorporates two of my favourite things - my favourite shade of red plus my love of boucle so it was always going to end up in my wardrobe!
And of course this next top I've already fessed up to but for the sake of honesty have included it in the role call!
The same with this scarf!
And I think that's about it....well apart from the two H&M lace tops & straw panama that I can't find online so they don't count right?!!!!
Finally here's what I'm wearing today, as I mentioned yesterday we've got today & tonight to ourselves as our son is doing his practice Duke of Edinburgh Bronze today & tomorrow.....just hoping the rain stays off or at least isn't too heavy!!! So an early morning start this morning with him completing his newspaper round & then dropping him off at camp which, happens to be just down the road as he's camping at a site in our village. Then of course while the cats away the mice are most DEFINITELY going to play :-) so here's what I've decided to wear.

Enjoy your Sunday & see you in the morning.
Gosh you cleaned up in Zara Jane!! Some lovely picks, but the beaded jacket is my favourite. I too fail miserably at the not-buying things mission....Dread to think what I've spent this last month! One in one out sounds like a good policy!

Lol Porcelina what can I say except my name's Jane & I'm a Zara-holic!!!! Glad I'm not the only one to have been on a buying mission this past month.

Wowsers Jane some seriously amazing purchases made......love, love, love the dresses!! I haven't been into Zara for a while so now I'm inspired!! I've got the Zara draped t in black and that has been one of my best purchases so far this season!! Love this feature of looking over your monthly buys.....I love checking out what everyone else is snapping up! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Michelle, just got to hope we get the weather now to wear them, otherwise I'm going to be constantly changing when we go on holiday so I get my wear out of them!!!
DeleteJane xx
Gosh and I thought I had been a bit naughty. Well done Jane some great purchases. I love your' yellow jacket and I am being tempted by one on the Zara site at this very moment. H xx
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear I'm not the only naughty one Helen ;-)

You're very honest Jane & you have bought some great pieces...love the Zara crochet dress & the ASOS leopard one! I bought a few pieces when Mango had their 30% off the other week but a few bits are going back! x
ReplyDeleteWell honesty is the best policy...right Sian?!!! I think a lot of us couldn't resist the Mango sale simply too good to resist wasn't it, what did you get?!!
DeleteJane xx
Some lovely things, you've done well in Zara. I love your yellow zara jacket and I have the blouse in cobalt blue, gorgeous isn't it? But my fave is the mango jacket, stunning!
ReplyDeleteAbbi x
The cobalt blue blouse is fab Abbi isn't it plus it can be worn all year round so perfect for the 'cost per wear' argument ;-) I'm so glad I got the Mango jacket as it's like my Zara one from last year - something that little bit different which is perfect for throwing on over the simplest of outfits.

You don't want to hear from me! I spent £0!
ReplyDeleteFiona you're just to good - I can see your halo shining from here!!!
DeleteJane xx
That final outfit looks really great on you and so modern. Thanks for the warmer weather inspiration, I'm going away next week and am still in knits and tights so seriously starting to panic about baring flesh! x
ReplyDeleteAww thank you. Hope you have an amazing holiday - I can't wait for the temperatures to start heating up so we can bare some flesh!!!

I've been quite frugal last month - bought a lovely dress in Benetton in Spain, a pair of trainers from Gola and a lovely pair of shoes and bag from Clarks and necklace from Monsoon/Accessorize. So not too much really. Warmer weather forecast later this week so now need some new shorts and tops. I feel a shopping trip coming on. Got an outdoor summer wedding in a couple of months and dress code - no stilettos as in a field - so need to start looking for summer wedges me thinks.
ReplyDeleteOoh sounds like some lovely new additions to your wardrobe & I'm liking the sound of the warmer weather arriving too!! Wedges or block heels would be perfect for a summer wedding in a field, happy shoe shopping :-)
DeleteJane xx
Hi Jane, so impressed with your shopping haul honesty! Do you ban your husband from reading this blog? ;-). I love the mango jacket but unsure about sizing. I take an M in Zara - us Mango similar (bearing in mind this jacket won't need to be buttoned up). Thanks Jo x @joanneeallen
ReplyDeleteLol Jo no I don't but I think I might start having to use the phrase 'what this old thing?!!!' ;-) I ordered the same size as I would in Zara for the Mango jacket so I would say to order it in the medium, although if you're in between sizes it might be worth giving it a whirl in the small. Hope I haven't confused your more!!!
DeleteJane xx
Hee hee - that's my standard answer! Thanks, might order in two sizes and return as I can be between depending on fit. Will let you know how I get on! Jo xx
DeleteYes definitely let me know how you get on Jo, it will look gorgeous on you.
DeleteJane xx
You got some lovely pieces here Jane! I love the first dress & can't believe this is your first leopard print one! Lol! The red Zara top is just lovely! I like your style....if you can't find them online they don't count! I shall be stealing that one! Ax
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrea, it's fab logic *excuse* isn't it?!!! And yes my wardrobe definitely needed a Bet dress, even if it is in different colours to standard Bet, although that means I can still be on the lookout for another ;-0
