Getting My Sparkle On & WIWT

So a few weeks ago I mentioned I was tempted to buy a sequin jacket but only if I could wear it dressed down as well as up.  So after your positive feedback & general consensus that yes a sequin jacket could be dressed down & that I should go for it, go for it I did & the blame was well & truly put on your shoulders for encouraging me when I exclaimed to the hubby that I had a sequin sized jacket hole in my wardrobe ;-)

Now before I show you the one I ended up with I thought I'd include some of the other sequin jackets currently available on the high street should you feel like getting your bling on & joining me!

Whilst there isn't a great choice around at the moment I'm sure as we approach Christmas (gosh is the start of August to early to mention the 'C' word?!!!) that the shops will be bursting at the seams with sequins & be able to rival Strictly's costume department hands down.

But in the meantime here's my pick of the crop currently doing the rounds.

First up is this colourful jacket from Topshop.  I think this would look fab teamed with some distressed boyfriend jeans, 'V' neck white t-shirt & red ballet pumps for a relaxed kind of vibe as well as looking stunning for an evening with wax effect black jeans & a cami.

For a more subdued look I'm also loving this Topshop Kate Moss one, which could be teamed with a whole heap of colours & again dressed up or down.

More pricey with this next one but how gorgeous is this Alice Temperley sequin jacket?  I love both the colour and the high stand up collar.  Simply stunning & let's face it a total classic that could be brought our year upon year so when priced on a cost per wear basis not as expensive as it first seems ;-)

Finally how about this loose fit, three quarter length sleeved one from Zara.

So any guesses which one I picked!!!!  Yup of course it was the Zara one!  I love the slightly loose, casual fit to it & it was the perfect colour for dressing down.  Not to much bingo caller that I'd feel as if I should issue a health warning for everyone to don sunglasses before looking in my direction.  Plus I think it's going to be perfect for dressing up to & will make the perfect throw on jacket for teaming with my strapless jumpsuit for cooler days/evenings not to mention teaming with my faux leather trousers & pencil skirts or a simple little black dress.

And if proof was needed that I love it, I've already worn it out!  Yup what better time to get my bling on than for our son's birthday a couple of weeks ago, where I teamed it with some skinny distressed jeans, a simple t-shirt & some block heeled sandals.

Okay so at first yes I did feel a little self conscious, especially as I had to pop to the shops with a return on our way to his birthday meal but you know what I soon got used to it & forget I could pass for an extra from Strictly!!!!

Finally here's my outfit for today.

Jacket - Zara
Top - Zara
Bracelets - Banana Republic
Jeans - Zara
Ballet Pumps - Zara

Ice Pink & Grey

Jacket - Mango £69.99
Jeans - Mango £29.99
Ballet Pumps - Next £24

So what do you think are you tempted to join my in donning the odd sequin or two or are you happy to leave the sequins to the professionals from Strictly?!!!  I'd love to hear what you think.

Have a great day, I'm off to get the fringe cut & the greys covered before last minute packing for the holidays!!

  1. It's a lovely jacket Jane. I fear I wouldn't be as brave as you and save it for 'best' which is silly as it looks great teamed with jeans x

    1. Thanks Donna, I think that's the thing with sequins isn't it you tend to think they should only be worn for best but equally they can be dressed down too.

  6. I can steal your style again Jane....though my sequin jacket is positively vintage!! I picked up a French Connection dusky pink sequin cape-shaped jacket in T K Maxx a few years ago!! I've only worn it a few times but have hung onto it knowing it was a classic!! Now I am going to have a play with it and dress it down! Thank you for the inspiration xx
