Great Weather For Ducks & My OOTD

Brrrrr....I think it's safe to say that autumn has arrived with a vengeance!  After a great summer & weeks of little to no rain I can't say I'm liking this wet weather, especially when going for my early morning run.  The dark & cold are enough to put up with let alone getting soaking wet too!  Oh well at least it wakes me up!!

So enough moaning & back to today's post - macs!!  I don't know about you but despite having taken delivery of a couple of gorgeous new winter coats I'm not ready to start wearing them yet, especially as it was only last week that I was slipping on flip flops & going bare legged.  What we really need is some lovely sunny crisp autumn days in which to enjoy the sunshine but cool enough to wear a jacket.  Although when it's tipping it down like the past few days then only a mac will do.

I currently only own the one mac, a classic styled light camel number from Massimo Dutti that is already a good 10 years old but due to it's styling is going to see me through many a rainy day to come.  Although I'd love a navy one to add to my collection, if not a bright red number too, but I shall be good & try & refrain from clicking the button whilst writing this post (well we can only hope!!).

Now the great thing about a mac is that they instantly bring an element of chicness to an outfit & go with anything & everything your wardrobe contains.  Perfect for slipping over a cocktail dress & heels without feeling too clumpy, worn over a suit or smart casual attire for work as well as looking super cool when teamed with a simple sweatshirt, boyfriend jeans & trainers for a weekend.

So without further ado here's my pick of the best styles currently on the high street.  Starting with this great classic number from Mango, which shows perfectly how a mac doesn't need to be kept for best.  I love it styled with the brogues.

Slightly darker neutral with this one from ASOS.  It also looks as if it's slightly less straight up & down too.

Love it in the navy, which is where my promise of not purchasing during the course of this post could seriously come unstuck!!

Or if you don't wear navy it's also available in black too!

Slightly longer in length with this classic trench from Gap.  This is probably a similar length to my Massimo Dutti mac & probably for me has the edge over the above ASOS number.  I really couldn't see this ever going out of style & just to tempt you & me further it's available in all 3 classic colours.

Loving the idea of this M&S number that comes with stormwear, which can only be a good thing when you're buying something to wear when the heavens open surely?!!

Now I must confess that I'm not normally drawn to a black mac but I'm loving this next one on the model & just might have to investigate further when I'm next in M&S, provided of course I can find it!!

Another great stylish classic from Banana Republic.

Together with this gorgeous one from Massimo Dutti.  Just stunning & I love the colour not to mention how they've teamed it with the striped polo neck & tan loafers.

Or for something a little bit different how about this round neck navy version (that jumper is so calling to me....!).

Moving onto something a little bit different from the classic mac with this next one from Zara.  A lovely longer length & beautifully uncomplicated with no buttons down the front just the gorgeous lapels doing all the talking.

Or if you fancy a mac but want something a little bit less 'stiff' in appearance then this cowl neck trench from Mint Velvet looks lovely.  A great alternative for wearing for the school run teamed with jeans & trainers.

Finally I just had to include this leopard print mac from Boden....well my inner Bet would never have forgiven me if I hadn't!!!

Finally here's what I'm wearing today.

Jumper - Zara
Blazer - H&M
Scarf - Zara
Trousers - H&M
Bag - Wallis
Boots - Clarks

Khakis, Greys & Black

Jumper - Zara £19.99
Scarf - Mango £17.99
Trousers - Mango £24.99
Bag - Wallis £59
Boots - Clarks £110

So what do you think?  Are you a mac lover & have an old faithful you pull out on days like today or is it something you've never got round to purchasing as you've always felt they're just too smart?!  Perhaps there's one that's calling to you?  Whatever your thoughts I'd love to hear.

Have a great Wednesday.....can't believe it's the middle of the week already!!

    1. I can't believe how quickly the weather changed Anne but you never know fingers crossed we'll get some beautiful autumn days back soon.
And yes a mac with a zip in lining would be perfect wouldn't it for windy days like today.

  2. Love the tonal colours of your outfit Jane. One day I will buy an investment mac, it will be my one and only. I really want a Burberry but ouch the prices have gone up with a big fat whallop. But I know it will be worth the investment. I bought a black Burberry blazer about 15 years ago and up until last year I wore it lots. So until I safe up the pennies, I'll be mac-less x

    1. You won't go wrong with an investment purchase Donna, it's just the waiting & saving up that I'm useless at.....far too impatient I'm afraid!

  3. I have one in a camel shade from J.Crew that I bought several years ago. Back then the quality was excellent, so it is well-made, and will last me for quite a few more years. Hope your weather takes a turn for the better soon! We are supposed to get rain and colder temps this weekend, so still enjoying the sun while we can. Enjoy your day! :)

    1. A mac is timeless isn't it Melissa so buying one that's going to last is well worth the extra pennies.
Enjoy the sunshine while you still have it!

    1. Both are gorgeous colours for a mac Sarah, I think I'd probably lean towards the navy personally as I know I would wear this more but then a red mac would be perfect for lifting you when the weather was wet & grey like today....decisions, decisions!! Think I'd order in both colours & go with my gut instinct when trying them on.

As much as I hate the rain when running it's better than the ice & wondering if I'm about to go flying at any second lol!

    1. Yup I torn between the Massimo Dutti ones and the Gap ones. I've been delighted with my Massimo Dutti one & it's certainly stood the test of time in both style & quality.

  10. I have a very old Next Mac with has a dipped hem at the back but I never seem to wear it very much. I was looking for a new one last year and never bought one so maybe it's about time I invested. Great pics here. I like the ASOS one best. Love the darker camel colour. Loving your grey and khaki together today. Lynne x

    1. I think if I have to ever replace my mac I'd lean more towards the darker carmel colour they just look so gorgeous & luxurious . In the meantime I'm very tempted by a navy one ;-0
