A Little Bit of Pom Pom Magic & My OOTD

Today I thought I'd share with you a brilliant company that I happened to recently stumble upon - oh the joys of the internet, what on earth did we do before for discovering new independent brands?!!

Now before I do the show & tell we all know my love for faux fur & pom poms is well documented (in fact I'm already thinking of ways I can incorporate a pom pom or two into my spring & summer wardrobe).  And whilst I've already featured some very stylish pom pom hats on the blog at around the £30-45 mark they're not cheap.

Of course anyone who loves fashion will know that pom pom hats are HUGE this season but due to their price tag you may have thought this was an accessory you would have to do without this season.

However, my lovelies I have discovered The Fur Bobble Shop.  A fantastic company based in England that specialises in fur bobble hats at a much more purse friendly price of £19.95 each (plus delivery at only £2.50 per order too).

So without further a do here's my edit of favourite colours from their website.

First up is their cable knit bobble hat, which unlike certain other brands is still priced at £19.95.  There are lots of different colours available but for me based on a cost per wear basis you're never going to go wrong with one in a neutral like the ones I've featured below.  I just love the oversized pom pom, which at approximately 15cm in size is just perfect!

Or if you fancy adding a splash of colour this red one would look stunning teamed with a parka for the school run or walking the dog.

The second design available at The Fur Bobble Shop comes in a thick ribbed design & again I'm loving the neutral colours.

Although it will come as no surprise to hear I've also got a soft spot for this one in aubergine too - just gorgeous.

If however, you love the oversized pom pom but aren't a lover of knitted hats then what about a keyring.  Again they're very reasonably priced & are available in the following four colours.

I just love how they instantly transform a bag & add a bit of fun to even the most ordinary of bags.  I think these are like leopard print accessories for instantly transforming & taking an outfit up a notch or two & of course you could just add them to your keyring.  Even I shouldn't forget to leave the house keys in the door with one of these dangling from it!  Plus they really do bring a smile to your face don't they?!

Now I have been lucky enough for The Fur Bobble Shop to send me a couple of their hats & keyrings to add to my wardrobe & take a closer inspection at & having received a more expensive hat & keyring for Christmas of the same design I have to say these babies are just as stunning & well made. In fact I'd be pushed to tell the difference so there's really no question in my book which one wins as with The Fur Bobble Shop you can either save money or if you're on my wavelength get two for almost the price of one from one of its competitors so it really is a no brainer!

As you'll see from the pictures below I've been sent the Pom Pom Bobble Hat In Navy & the Cable Knit Bobble Hat in Grey together with the Pom Pom Keyring In Black & Caramel.

So here's just a couple of ways of how I've styled my new pom pom accessories.  Firstly with a sneaky purchase I made in London on Thursday - this jacket was the only one left & was still marked as full price at £59.99 but when I enquired about the price (as it was with all the sale items) I was informed it had been reduced to £19.99!!  Well needless to say I sprinted to the till faster than Mo Farah as I simply couldn't believe my luck :-)

Having loved wearing my trainers for the first time on Thursday, I thought I'd create another look with them teamed with the cable knit bobble hat & a blanket scarf.  I can see these hats being perfect for keeping in my bag & throwing on if it's windy or wet - so much easier than having to do battle with a brolly!

I also couldn't wait to try the keyrings attached to some of my favourite bags & I just love them.

I'm also loving them used as a keyring too - this just makes me smile every time I pick up my keys, plus there's no more loosing my keys in the contents of my handbag lol!

From a point of view with the two different designs of hat it's a hard call to say which one I prefer, I suppose it depends if you want something that little bit more detailed or for the pom pom to take centre stage.

As for the key rings I can quite honestly say they could quite easily become an addiction & if I could I would have one hanging from every bag I own not to mention from every key in the house - although I'm not sure the hubby would be too amused to suddenly see his car keys sporting one -  but hey what do hubbies know?!!  But be warned I'm going to be sporting a pom pom or two at every future opportunity!!  In fact I love them so much the dog is going to be taken on a lot more dog walks & would it be wrong to say I'm almost praying for lots of snow so I have an excuse to wear a pom pom or two?!!!

Finishing with my outfit for today, which yes you've guessed it features a pom pom ;-)  We've still not seen much snow but it's absolutely freezing & very icy here this morning so my hat will be perfect for keeping me warm & toasty.  Off out for a dog walk then a lazy Sunday at home, get Sunday lunch out of the way & then I'm not planning on moving far from the fire - bliss :-)

So what do you think?  Are you a fellow pom pom lover?  Do you have any pom poms hanging in your wardrobe or have you been put off by the price?  If you have then you should seriously consider these babies as not only do they tick the oversized pom pom trend & are purse friend, they're extremely well made & a warm hat to boot - something that is sure to come in very handy over the coming dark & dreary months.  Maybe you've already discovered The Fur Bobble Shop for yourself & have already clicked the button?  As always I love reading your thoughts & comments.

Have a great day, stay warm & see you tomorrow.

  1. Jane, these pompom hats and key rings are made out of real raccoon fur, as clearly stated on this company's website. I have followed your blog for a while now, but am pretty disgusted that you would endorse the use of real fur. I prefer my fashion accessories to not have caused pain and suffering to innocent animals thanks. It is also misleading when you have started your post by talking about your love of faux fur.

    1. This, in buckets.

I completely and utterly agree and couldn't have put it better myself.

  2. I love your blog but am sorry to say that I will no longer be following you as these products are made from real raccoon fur according to the company's website. I'm really disappointed that you're endorsing a product that has been made by causing suffering to animals.

    1. The company website says raccoon fur but I imagine it is fur from the raccoon dog (Asia) as opposed to the raccoon (North America). The fur trade in parts of Asia is very cruel with animals sometimes being skinned alive. They are kept in tiny cages and kicked about by the workers. Not forgetting that dogs and cats are also sources of fur in these countries. All these animal lovers out there who are quite happy to dote upon their pampered pooches and pussy cats but turn a blind eye when it comes to the cruelty involved in producing a fashion accessory.

    2. The pain and suffering caused by silly women wanting to wear fur is disgusting

  4. It's a controversial item! As a huge, huge fan of your blog I really look forward to seeing your daily fashion choices but have to say that I too was really shocked to see you promote a company that uses real fur, especially given your love of the faux material. Pom pom bobble hats are great but I but wouldn't even consider one made using real fur, racoon or otherwise. There are bobble hats available made from faux fur and it's a shame you couldn't have shown one of these. Sadly on this occasion its a 'no' from me - but keep up the otherwise great work!

  5. Hi Jane, I'm totally loving the look! I was lucky to have one of these fur bobble hats for Christmas and am totally in love with it. Keep up the good work.

  6. Jane, I'm in the no camp too - I just can't see how to justify wearing real fur when there is so much fabulous faux fur around. I really hoped reading your blog these hats were faux fur but was disappointed to see they aren't. The fur definitely looks better on the animal it came from. Emma

  7. What a steal your Zara coat was Jane....it is so stunning, totally envious!
It's a tricky one with the fur pom poms isn't it? This may sound like I'm a bit ignorant and I may be sounding a tad irresponsible here but if I see something I like I buy it. I wouldn't necessarily check to see whether it was real fur or not, in fact I would probably assume it was fake as there is so much faux fur around. They are lovely accessories and I think it's a personal choice as to whether you buy or not knowing what they are.
Loving your blog as always Michelle xx

    1. Michelle like you I really didn't think this post would offend those that it has as there are so many of these hats around at the moment.
It was never my intention to cause any offence & for that I can only apologise.

  8. I'm afraid it's another 'no' from me. I won't be following your blog any more I'm afraid, I find the use of real fur abhorrent, there is absolutely no excuse or need for it. It seems that some bloggers will pimp themselves out for any product. Perhaps a follow up post to this explaining your reasoning would be a good move? (not that I will be reading it, nor any of my friends who are as equally disgusted).

  9. Very unfair comments above. I am not a vegan, nor vegetarian however I am, or aim to be, very green. People don't realise, and this isn't directed at you Jane, that Faux Fur is so damaging to the environment, and the animals that live in it, die to all the processing involved in simulating fur. The fur industry is nothing like it used to be, and is very strictly regulated, much the same as our meat industry. Please take the time to read up about it. If your a vegan and don't use any animals products, nor any tested on animals, then I understand your irritability. It's a personal choice, as is eating meat, which animals are killed (humanely) for, the same as ethicslly run fur farms. We don't need to wear fur, nor do we need to eat meat or use products that are tested on animals. There's a much bigger picture here....

    1. I am a vegetarian and won't wear leather, silk or fur. It sickens me that real fur is now becoming acceptable again as even though fur farming may be strictly regulated in some countries it certainly does not apply worldwide and places like China treat the animals appallingly with some of them being skinned alive. I do wonder where these companies who can sell fur items so cheaply source their fur from. Do people really need to have a real fur pom pom on their hats that means a slow and painful death for some of these animals? I have noticed a lot of style bloggers sporting these fur pom pom hats that have been gifted from various companies. Would they have worn fur 10 years ago? Or is it just because certain celebrities have made it acceptable again and so they want to jump on the bandwagon as it is the in thing?

  10. Hi Jane, I think this style of hat looks fab and as for the fur, I think that's a personal choice. I don't own any real fur (and nor do I intend to) but there is clearly a market for it and many people choose to wear it. I clearly love this style though as I'm a big fan of faux fur (not sure how it is damaging to the environment so I will look into that). I have always loved your blog, as you know, and will continue to do so :-) Lynne xx

    2. Sorry but to say it is personal choice to wear fur is simply saying you have personal choice to support animal torture (you are not speaking about smoking where you mainly harm yourself). Perhaps watch some of the horrifying Chinese videos showing these poor creatures being skinned alive just so you can wear cheap fashion. Although I believe those who claim 'choice' tend to have little compassion or concern for others. The photo's of you smiling with your sweet dog are quite sickening as you are wearing one on your head. Just imagine your dog suffering that fate. Will you care though?

  11. Hi Jane, fur is not for me, and never will be. I bought a hat before Christmas with what I thought was a faux fur bobble on it. A couple of days ago I discovered it wasn't, and I had to bin it. I just couldn't wear it any more. I felt incredibly naive, and extremely angry that it had not been made clear at point of sale that I was buying real fur. I do however, wear leather and eat meat. Does that make me a hypocrite? I don't know, but if you have made the decision to wear real fur, it's exactly that - your decision, and it's you who has to live with it. I won't be boycotting your blog. You're a grown woman and who am I to tell you how to live your life?

  12. I think it's a tricky one. I have a pom Pom keyring in real fur - didn't realise when I ordered it, but to throw it away would now feel disrespectful to the animal if that makes sense? I also think if you wear leather, then perhaps it is hypocritical to be anti-fur? There are so many arguments that could be had about it.

  14. This company should have the option of fur and faux fur, in my opinion.

  15. Appalled to see the promotion of any item promoting fur in these enlightened times! Have you any idea of the cruelty involved in cheap fur production? To say you thought it was faux fur yet still promote them after being otherwise informed is quite shocking. Please people, go and read about how these items are produced and see if you can sleep, let alone wear them! Yes I live a wholly plant-based life-style because it's kinder to me and the planet. No I don't consider the infliction of cruelty as an ethical "option" for anyone.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Why on earth are you standing there smiling whilst promoting pain, suffering and abuse and KNOWING you are doing so?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Smiling with your dog whilst wearing one, terrible. Yes you very much offend in promoting this animal abuse. Please check out the online videos of these poor creatures being skinned alive. No creatures should suffer in this way for human vanity. No human should have the right to claim it is their 'choice' to support animal abuse and torture. All fur farming or trapping is abusive and cruel. Shame on you.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yes you have offended. The offence caused to readers (that you imply you care about) is nothing however compared to the truly offensive animal torture you obviously don't care about and happily promote.

    ReplyDelete
  19. This is awful your promoting the murder and abuse of innocent animals. The company clearly states they use real fur. How could you wear it? Is your cognitive dissonance so Dam great?
