New Outfit Post - Wide Legged Trousers & A Breton

Whilst I'm not totally convinced on the denim flares that are everywhere this season (loving them on others just not on me!) I have found myself leaning towards a wide legged pair of trousers.  Something that could be dressed up or down & would look good when teamed with a smarter pair of shoes as much as trainers.

Luckily I spied these navy trousers on the Zara website & they pretty much fitted the bill of what I'd envisaged I was looking for so naturally the button was clicked!

Naturally when they arrived I had to try them on straight away & it was love at first sight - a lovely pair of trousers that look far more than the £29.99 they cost.  With some lovely detailing on the sides plus they're crepe meaning they fall beautifully.  In fact I love them so much I couldn't wait to wear them so today they're coming out for their first play (I did have to hastily turn the hem up as I'm mainly planning on wearing these with flats but decided to keep the length pretty long as I think they look better this way) & for their first outing I'm teaming them with some trainers & a breton.

Busy day ahead - karate run, a few errands & 'to do' jobs to complete then over to my mums for tea & a catch up with the family & some cuddles & munchies with my three nephews.  Before a night in on the sofa with a film or two, which I'm hoping to stay awake for unlike The Avengers last night where despite desperately trying to keep my eyes open I still feel asleep for a good half of it.  Neither my son or hubby can comprehend how I can fall asleep in the cinema but what can I say, sitting down in a large dark room of an evening at the end of busy working week is only going to end up one way with me........does that mean I'm getting old?!!! ;-)

Hope everyone has a fab Saturday.

  1. Love your look today. Being 5ft 3" I always worry about looking too short in wide legged trousers although I lovevthe look if them on others. Going to hit the button on the boden Breton today. Do they come up big? Not sure whether to go for a 6 or 8 as I am normally an 8. Do you recommend any other must haves from Boden? May aswell order a few things whilst I'm at it! Have a great Saturday. Nicola

    1. Hi Nicola I always go up a size with Boden's bretons as I prefer a slightly looser fit so I should suggest a 10 or perhaps order the 8 & 10 as they do free returns. Boden have got some great pieces in at the moment so I'd definitely spend a bit of time looking on their site. If you're in the market for a denim jacket they have a great round neck version & also their lace up flat Lille shoes are gorgeous. Plus I'm loving their Arianne top which is currently reduced by 15%......in fact I could go on & on!!! Happy shopping & have a fab weekend.

  2. Love this outfit, it looks really Spring-like. I'm always unsure about wide legged trousers on me as I'm only 5'3", I think I'd have to wear them with heels or wedges.

    1. Thanks Sam. Have you tried buying wide legged trousers that are from a petite range so the proportions are right? Have a look at Next as they have some lovely ones in stock.

    2. I never even thought of that! That's probably why you have a fashion blog and I don't!

  4. Love those trousers Jane, they're a great alternative to flares. I'm with you about flared jeans, they look fantastic on everyone else but I feel very dated in them. Lol to falling asleep in the cinema, I have a fear of doing that because I know I would snore. Have a fab weekend xx

    1. Glad I'm not the only one who feels like an extra from the 70s in denim flares Sue.
I'm a nightmare in the cinema for falling asleep if we go of an evening but thank goodness I don't snore lol!
      Have a fab weekend too.

  7. They look great on you, Jane. I bought some denim flares bit I've only worn them twice as I need heels with them so they look quite dressy. Hoping to wear them more with wedges as it warms up! Lynne xx
