Rachel Wears & Styling Up A Poncho

Happy Easter!  I hope the Easter bunny has left you all a chocolate egg or two & that some chocolate has been consumed for breakfast....surely not just me?!!

Now you may recall that last year I styled & reviewed some stunning wardrobe classics from Rachel Wears (see here).  A brand which specialises in providing luxury clothing for women in easy to wear classic styles, with all clothing made in the UK using the finest of materials whilst providing a personal & professional service.

Last year I was lucky enough to have been gifted their Long Merino Wool Drape Cardigan (available in Oatmeal & Pebble Grey), which I've found incredibly useful & after lots of wear I can most certainly vouch for the quality of the garment.  I've really found it a great wardrobe addition that has been perfect for days when I've needed an extra layer both in the winter but also summer & found it perfect for wearing over a simple summer dress - just a lovely alternative to a denim jacket.

Since my last review the brand have launched some more stunning additions to their collection including this beautiful navy silk swing top.  I just love how it's been styled in the picture below & think this kind of top is just perfect for wearing on a night out, teamed with skinny/wax effect jeans & some statement heels & a clutch & you're good to go.

Another classic is this oversized silk & jersey shirt.  Such a versatile item perfect for dressing down with boyfriend jeans & trainers as much as it is for teaming with a pencil skirt & heels, which is sure to be a great wardrobe investment.

Thinking of sunny days with their long wrap skirt.  Team with a simple cami, belt at the waist & layer with some delicate gold chains & you'd have a fabulous outfit to pack for your holidays & of course being black you could so easily team with many different tops to create lots of looks not to mention create the look of a maxi dress when teamed with black.  Then come autumn it would be ideal to wear with chunky boots & a biker jacket.

Finally a new addition to their knitwear collection is this lovely poncho, which Rachel has very kindly sent me.

Having loved my oversized cardigan so much I was intrigued to see if I'd love their poncho just as much.

Now before I received my gift my wardrobe was rather lacking in the poncho department as when someone says the word poncho I tend to think of something that's adorned with tassels & a little over fussy for my liking but thankfully the one designed by Rachel is nothing like that.  Instead it's a classic design that is simple as it is elegant & is oversized without being swamping.  I just love the colour - cornflower blue, which is the perfect shade for teaming with denim, & the batwing styled sleeves.

Of course like the oversized cardigan, it's perfect for days when an extra layer is required & would look stunning worn over a breton or classic white shirt but it's equally stunning when worn on it's own too.  In fact I love it so much that I'm wearing it today - perfect for hiding the odd Easter egg or three ;-)

As you'll see from the pictures below I've teamed the poncho with some distressed boyfriend jeans, white trainers & added a little bit of detailing with my leopard print belt.  I just love the elegant, relaxed feel it creates to a simple outfit.

Finally I just had to show you how lovely their packaging is - I think the note & sprig of lavender is such a lovely personal touch.

So what do you think, are you a fan of the poncho & if so how do you wear yours?  Or perhaps you've seen something else that's caught your eye?  As always I'd love to know & if you haven't already done so, you should definitely have a look at Rachel Wears' website as there really are some stunning timeless designs perfect for mixing with high street finds & trends.

Right I'm off to finish the cooking as we've got family over for a traditional Easter Sunday lunch.  Don't forget there's still time to enter my competition, click here for more details & if you fancy an Easter treat don't forget the sales that are currently on at BodenWallis & Great Plains.

Have a fab Easter.  I hope you have an amazing day with your family & loved ones & as always let me know what you think as I love hearing from you & reading your thoughts & comments.

  1. The poncho looks like the perfect cut, not too 'swampy' & I love the long silk & jersey shirt. X

    1. It is Sarah, I think that's probably the thing that's put me off ponchos in the past as they can be so unflattering.
Hope you've had a lovely Easter.
