Taking A Look At Palmaira Sandals De Menorca & WIWT

Having holidayed in Majorca for many a year I've often looked at the traditional Menorcan sandal & thought about buying a pair but have always got sidetracked with stocking up on my beloved ballet shoes that I buy each year.  So you can imagine my delight when I was recently contact by Palmaira Sandals De Menorca to see if I'd like to style & review a pair of their beautiful sandals.

For those of you who haven't heard of Palmaira Sandals De Menorca, the company is run by two sisters Tracey & Lisa with Lisa's Menorcan partner David & began 5 years ago back in 2013.  As with most things there are many copies of this type of sandal but in order to be granted an authentic seal of approval the shoe must be made on the island of Menorca by the traditional methods & by hand.  All sandals sold by Palmaira Sandals De Menorca have not only been given the 'product of Menorca' stamp but the company prides itself on staying true to its roots by supplying traditional & ethical sandals that have been lovingly handmade by true authentic craftsmanship.

Needless to say having received their email I quite happily spent some time looking *drooling* over their stock & trying to narrow my choice down to the pair I'd like to review, which wasn't an easy task as the company offer some stunning colour ways.

In the end I made a little short list, which I thought I'd share with you today.

Of course the first pair to catch my eye are what I would describe as the traditional pair which I'm sure a lot of you will have seen if holidaying in Spain.  I just love the simplicity of the sandals in tan as it really is a great neutral that will go with everything.

But then having found a love for all things hot pink the neon pink version also caught my eye.  How stunning would these look teamed with a simple pair of denim shorts & white t-shirt.

And of course it wasn't long before my inner magpie was also raising it's head after spotted their sandal in gunmetal glitter again just stunning.

Needless to say having a huge weakness for leopard print I was also drawn to the sandals in leopard print pony although sadly as these are limited edition my size was sold out :-(

But they did have the Snow Leopard Pony in stock in my size.

And also the Turquoise & Lime Snakeprint which would look stunning teamed with a simple grey or black shift dress not to mention linen trousers.

Plus of course their classic Leopard Print version too.

Do you see what I mean about lots of stunning colour ways to choose from & I haven't featured half of the colours/prints available.

So any guesses which ones I choose?!!  Well it was a close call with the neon pink & the leopard print but in the end the leopard print won the vote as they're just such a great neutral that means I'm sure to get lots of wear from them.

One thing I really love about this sandal is the fact that they have a sturdy sole with grips.  As I surely can't be the only one who has worn flat leather soled sandals & managed to go flying on the terracotta tiles whilst on holiday having found a slightly wet tile & ended up flat on my back!  Plus of course not being completely flat makes these sandals so much more comfortable on the feet & back when walking around all day.

Needless to say the sandals are incredibly comfortable on the feet & there's been no rubbing or discomfort.  I ordered my normal shoe size (40) & whilst the sandals seem slightly loose on the heel the heel strap stays securely on.  Plus when wearing in the heat my feet will only ever expand so a little bit of room is only a good thing for me & I'm sure they're going to be extremely comfortable when wearing on holiday & fingers crossed at home this summer (is it too early to start rumours of a heatwave yet?!!).

Plus the beauty of this type of sandal is it doesn't have to be that warm to wear them back home so no risk of chilblains & if you're not having a glamorous toe nail day no need to worry either :-)

In fact they're the perfect sandal that you can so easily dress up or down I'm wearing them today with cigarette trousers & a simple white shirt but am equally looking forward to teaming them with some distressed denim jeans & a plain tee.

So what do you think of this type of sandal?  Is it something you already own having made a purchase whilst on your holidays?  Or perhaps like me it's a style you've always meant to purchase but never got round to & what would be your colour way of choice?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.  Plus f it's a style you like you really should take a look at their website as they've got some stunning colours & designs.

Enjoy your Sunday & see you in the morning.

    1. Hi I'm afraid I'm not sure how Australian sizing compares to UK & EU sizes. So you get the right size I would suggest emailing the company at info@palmairasandals.com
Sorry I can't be of any more help.
