New OOTD - Styling Cropped Trousers

I don't know about you but I'm still sitting on the fence in regard to culottes but in a nod to the trend I've purchased these Zara straight cropped trousers as they don't seem too far outside of my comfort zone & remind me of my beloved cigarette trousers.

So for their first outing I'm keeping things pretty casual & teaming with a simple tee, double breasted cropped jacket & my beloved trainers.

  1. I'm typing this wearing the indigo wide leg crops from Zara. (I'm not completely sure whether they qualify as culottes as the terminology seems to differ between retailers! In my eye they are definitely cropped wide trousers, but it is a fine line I think ...) I'm really quite a conservative dresser, but am absolutely loving them styled with my heeled knee length boots underneath and a streamlined top half. Plus perhaps a big scarf and some nice jewellery. Feeling a little bit modern and perhaps slightly scandi! It is cold and very very wet here today and I do think that these types of trouser / culottes become somehow easier to wear when full-on autumn layering is called for!

  3. I'm still on the fence with the culottes. As close as I'll venture is the ankle pant/cigarette pant. I just feel like the culotte cuts off my legs. Maybe it is just me. I don't even find them attractive on the "rich and famous." LOL Your outfit looks great on you Jane, as always. You have an amazing sense of style. :)

    1. Thank you! :-)
I think that's what I like about these Zara trousers they're very similar in style to my more fitted cigarette pants so it doesn't feel too far outside of my comfort zone but is a nod to the culottes trend & hopefully something that's less likely to go out of fashion.

  4. Hi Jane,
These look cute on you, but I doubt I will be trying any wide leg cropped pants- culottes or this longer type. It may be all in my head, but they make me feel wide and frumpy. Skinny cropped pants are more my style.

    1. Oh I know exactly what you mean Deborah. I actually sized down in these trousers to get more of a fitted look as like you my normal size made me look & feel more frumpy.
You can't go wrong with the classic skinny cropped trouser can you?!

  6. I love culottes but have gone for a pair that are more a cropped wide legged trouser quite smart. I don't like the ones that look like skirts and too flowy. I need these trouser in my life. But they don't do black. I have been searching and searching for this exact style but black. To no avail. You look fabulous. X
