Morning ladies I'm taking a closer look at one of my favourite brands today - Hush Homewear.
Regular followers will know that I've previously worked with the brand in styling some of their latest pieces from the past few seasons but on a recent trip to London I was able to tie it in with a trip to their pop up store that they had opened in Notting Hill. Where I was greeted by an a mass array of colour & temptation as you will see from the pictures I took below.
Having spent many an hour studying their SS16 collection online one of the things I loved most was being able to see the clothing in the flesh, feel the fabric & most importantly see the quality & fall of the garments. Which as you would expect from a brand such as Hush that is not only about fashion but lifestyle too (have you seen their latest & recently re-designed magazine sent out with orders?) was all set in stylish & extremely friendly surrounds.
Naturally I had to have a little trying on session & here's just a few snaps of some of the pieces that caught my eye.
Firstly this stuninning sequin cami top that is available in the two colourways shown. So beautiful & delicate & despite being sequinned so easy to dress up or down. Imagine the top teamed with some boyfriend jeans & trainers on a warm summers day or teamed with a chic blazer & cigarette pants & heels for a night out. The difficult part is deciding which colour to pick!
Next onto a couple of dresses that immediately caught my eye when I entered the store. Firstly this gorgeous draped dress in the most stunning shade of red (also available in black or blue), which I had seen online but was seriously even more beautiful in the flesh......so much so & having found myself constantly thinking about it during the rest of my trip to London was promptly ordered on the way home!
Then this lovely little sundress for summer. It's described as a beach dress on their site & whilst of course it would be ideal for the beach I would describe it more as a sundress as the thickness & quality of the fabric were more substantial than I would have presumed for a beach dress. Perfect for hot summer days both here & on holiday but equally would look stunning teamed with a denim jacket & trainers for cooler days too. The hot pink embroidery against the white backing really is beautiful & so fresh looking.
Size wise I'm wearing a size 6 in both as I find Hush clothing can be slighly on the generous side.
Then having been tempted by their pom pom scarf for the past couple of summers I just simply had to try this season's version. For any fellow pom pom & embroidery lover this really is the scarf for you. I love this years colour combo (off white & red, which for me is so much more wearable than the very vivid hot pink of the past) & the ruching down the centre of the scarf, which is something I wasn't quite sure on when looking at it online means it drapes beautifully & isn't noticeable when worn. You can simply just throw it on & go without having to arrange. Again this was also ordered on the train home & is now hanging in my wardrobe.
And my final picture is of their stunning knitted jacket. If you love Chanel inspired & boucle jackets then you should seriously check this knitted version out. It's a real stunner & something I'm currently having to resist the strong urge to not 'click that button' but as hubby keeps saying I don't need any new jackets. Although if I hadn't recently purchased a blue tweed jacket from Zara then this would have been ordered in an instant but never say never as I'm still extremely tempted :-0
Unfortunately this pop up store has now closed but there are plans to open more in the coming months & the next one is due to open on the 2nd of June for four days at 126 Upper Street, Islington, London, N1 1QP, so if you're able to visit I can highly recommend it. Although be warned it will make you an even bigger fan of the brand as they really do have a gorgeous collection & it would be quite easy to pick one of everything in your size.
Of course despite the pop up shop closing it doesn't mean we can't still shop online at Hush & with free standard delivery & returns it's as simple as ABC.
As I'm sure you would expect my mind has been buzzing with all the lovely pieces I spotted instore & here's just a highlight of my top picks (please click on image to see price & details).
I've also been lucky enough to have been sent a few pieces from their summer collection to style.
First up this stunning embroidered maxi dress that can either be worn with or without the straps. I can't wait to take this beauty away with me as it just screams blue skies & sea.

The embroidered detailing is just beautiful & the primary colours against the white look stunning. I'm wearing a size 6 as like I've mentioned above I do find I'm able to size down in Hush's clothing.
This next item is something that I will be wearing all year round as it will be ideal to layer in the cooler weather as much as it will on cooler summer days. Having had my head turned with cashmere this past winter I would definitely say that its worth investing in as it's so lovely & soft to wear next to your skin & is incredibly warm. Obviously I've not washed this yet but based on other knitwear that I own from Hush I'm planning on simply following their washing instructions. I'm wearing an XS which is loose without being shapeless so the perfect fit without looking like you're actually wearing your boyfriend's jumper!

And finally this next item I'm actually wearing today & is another past summer favourite that I've long admired - their military jacket. Something that will take you from Spring through to Summer through to Autumn. As with the dress I'm wearing a size 6 & was quite surprised at the lovely give to the fabric. I had expected something quite stiff so was worried that I would need to size up to prevent the jacket from feeling restricted but I need not have worried.

I am a big Hush fan, the military jacket is so soft and comfortable to wear and the harem pants i brought are still going strong several years down the line and are my go to comfort clothes for a relaxed evening at home. i also have quite a few of their dresses which still look as good now as when i first brought them. some lovely ideas in your post, really like the drape dress and the cami top. i am tempted by the tara dress as well, having brought one from their winter collection last year. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. x
ReplyDeleteIt is isn't Sheryl. I'd thought it might be quite restrictive but it's far from it. I reckon I'm going to wonder how I ever managed without it!
DeleteHush are certainly a brand I could go wild in the aisles for & the Tara dress is lovely. It puts me in mind of the ruched skirt & tee from Kettlewell & I'm guessing very flattering.
Enjoy your Bank Holiday weekend too.

Lucky you! They have some gorgeous stuff there. Loving the sequin top on you, especially in the blue. I haven't had a look at their stuff for a while. (Next online browse I think!) Jane X

Ooh if you haven't had a look recently Jane you should definitely take a peek. I was like a child in a sweet shop.....lots & lots of temptation!

Oh dear, I don't usually comment (secret lurker is more me!) but I love Hush and I'm only 5 minutes from Upper Street! I think I actually squealed with excitement - i need to get out more. I've been umming and aching about what to buy from SS so will definitely have to pop in to the pop up and make some purchases. i have a feeling that this could be expensive but thanks so much for the post, it was really helpful to me if not my bank balance and you look great in all the outfits. ReplyDeleteOh you're going to love it Alison. I defy you to walk away empty handed not to mention see things you perhaps had over looked online. You'll have to let me know what you get.
DeleteEnjoy :-)

Hi there, I am fast becoming a new Hush convert after ordering/sending back/reordering and now keeping their short sleeved jumpsuit! I know, I need to just Go For It! I've ordered the red Danielle dress and looking forward to wearing it. Can you give some ideas about how to style this and the black jumpsuit? I can see them both in your 1 piece holiday wardrobe....Thanks for the inspiration Jane and keep the fab blogs coming xx
