Morning ladies it's that time of the month again where I confess to new items that somehow seem to have found a new home in my wardrobe! Now as with every month I always start by telling the hubby I don't need anything new - which is true & that I'm going to be really good this month - which I certainly intend to & then the old halo slips from writing & researching this blog :-0
I think I've already confessed to a few of these but just in case you've missed them here's this month's round up.
One thing I'm consciously trying to do is build a timeless wardrobe of well made, good quality pieces that are going to stand the test of time. I absolutely love my white silk shirt (see here) & wanted something similar in black that was just as understated & easy to dress up or down. So the above shirt was a no brainer & is a good price for silk.
As you can see there's been quite a few colourful pieces to my wardrobe this month....not, & this above cape is no exception! Whilst what I've bought isn't colourful, I do know that I'm never going to tire of wearing black so not only will these pieces breathe new life into my wardrobe & go with everything, they're also going to be loved for years to come. Including the above knee length cape. Now I've been hankering after one of these for several years & kept telling myself I didn't need one but the desire for one just wasn't going away. Plus I tend to wear jackets/gilets a lot more than coats so I'm banking on this being super useful.
Talking of useful then fingerless cashmere gloves are right up there. Lovely & warm on your wrists so no gaps to let in the cold/draught & warm hands whilst still being able to operate your phone etc means a win win in my book.
The above sandals are a timeless addition & a style I've been looking to purchase for a while. What swung it for me with the ones above was that they're made from leather & the heel height (7.5cm) isn't too high, making them walkable!
Seeing as I seem to have fallen head over heels in love with cropped kick flare trousers & jeans I've been on the lookout for a fitted, fairly high, low heeled ankle boot - preferably something that could be worn with black, grey & navy. So when I spotted the above grey ankle boots they were ordered immediately. I love the fact that they have a very small heel & are pointed at the front making them ideal for wearing all day long with trousers, skirts or dresses.
Finally I actually 'clicked the button' on a splash of colour. I just couldn't resist this hot pink oversized scarf that's going to be perfect for adding some brightness to all the muted tones hanging in my wardrobe & will also look fab when teamed with my cashmere crew neck jumper in the same colour.
Talking of cashmere I'm wearing one of my favourite styles of cashmere jumpers today - a slouchy off the shoulder design, which is just so easy to wear & makes the simplest of looks work.

So ladies I'd love to say that's my Autumn & Winter wardrobe sorted but I think we all know that's not going to be the case, although I can hope!
Quick update on that Banana Republic dress unfortunately I had high hopes as from the images it looked perfect but sadly the fit was just all wrong on me & too short in the body. Not to give up on the black maxi dress hunt I've just ordered this one & think it might be a keeper - keep your fingers crossed!
How about you are you ready for AW17 or are there some items on your wish list that you're looking to add.
As always I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Enjoy your day ladies & as always I'll see you in the morning.
