Morning ladies I can't believe it's the 1st of November today, this year sure is flying by fast. I don't know about you but for me the beginning of November & bonfire night marks the start of winter coat & knitwear season. There's nothing better than snuggling up under some cosy chunky knitwear on a dark winter's night.
I was recently approached by House of Fraser to see if I'd like to style some of their knitwear & outerwear & from past experience working with clients I know it's an area many people can struggle with. Layering up for warmth but still keeping a stylish & tailored look. So hopefully the looks I've put together with help give you some inspiration for the coming months ahead.
As you can see from the outfits I've created I've mainly stuck to neutrals with the odd injection of colour. Together with separates that can be dressed up or down & mixed with a number of items to help create a multitude of looks. Add a thermal camisole & a cashmere scarf & you've got the perfect accessories for keeping you warm.
As well as putting the above looks together I've also chosen a few pieces from their collection to style with existing pieces from my wardrobe. Naturally as a lover of the Bella Freud jumpers, this jumper was top of my list & as you can tell from the pictures I was eager to style & try the pieces on as I took these pictures before our recent holiday.
I'm determined to get more wear out of my summer maxi dresses & one way of doing this is layering them up & wearing under a crew neck jumper. So the Sugarhill Boutique is perfect for this. I just love the embroidered detailing & like I've already mentioned very similar to Bella Freud for a fraction of the price. I'm wearing a size 8 so true to size.

The second piece I've picked is a real wardrobe staple. As a lover of cashmere, seriously once you try it you'll be converted, I also couldn't resist this timeless classic. I love the deep 'V' neckline & deep cuff detailing. Again true to size, I'm wearing a size S. Plus not too long in the body (or bulky) that it can't be tucked into a waistband as I'm showing below with my leopard print maxi.
Jumper - Biba
And finally my third pick is this coat, which is a style I've long been hankering after adding to my collection. Timeless, classic & a style that is so easy to dress up or down not to mention wear with heels, flats, skirts or trousers. I've gone for a slightly dressier look below by teaming the coat with the Sugarhill Boutique jumper & some smart loose fit grey pleated trousers.

Hello Jane
ReplyDeleteI enjoy following your blog, but would love it if you could feature more slim boot cut jeans/trousers as us hippy girls cannot wear skinny or tapered jeans/trousers.
Hi & thank you :-) I'll certainly bear this in mind. Out of interest have you tried cropped kick flare jeans/trousers? I wear this style a lot & find them really flattering & great for balancing the hips :-)

Love the Tommy Hilfilger coat and clicked on the link...I actually think you look better in it than the model!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness thank you so much - you've made my day! The coat really is stunning & something you can throw on that instantly looks styled & tailored. I'm absolutely delighted with mine as I don't tend to wear coats that often but this one will definitely be getting a lot of use as it's just like wearing a long line blazer :-)
