The Answer To My Prayers + WIW

Morning ladies today I want to talk about household chores & one in particular that I think in general most of us hate doing & that's ironing.  I don't know about you but I find it incredibly boring, painstakingly dull & despite my good intentions I never seem to be able to iron the perfect crease or press hubby's shirts perfectly.  I can't be the only one who tells themselves that does it matter as after a few minutes of being worn under his jacket it's going to get creased again anyway.....right?!

Now you may remember that last year I was luckily enough to be sent a washing machine & tumble dryer from Miele that guaranteed to change our washing (see here) & I'm pleased to say some 12 months later they're not only still going strong but really have proved to be brilliant in terms of the functions they offer.  In fact we haven't had to take a single item to the dry cleaners, nor had to undertake any actual handwashing since their arrival #happydays.  They really couldn't be better at caring for our clothes especially items I'd previously never have thought of putting in a washing machine & tumble dryer such as cashmere & silk.  Not only do they make the whole process of washing & drying a lot easier but as I've programmed all our washes into the favourites section I'm even happy to let our son put the washing on, even if it contains one of my beloved cashmere jumpers & that's saying a lot coming from a control freak like me!

So you can imagine my delight when Miele recently got back in touch to see if I'd be interested in trialling out & reviewing their B3826 FashionMaster Steam Ironing System, which is part of their Exclusive Collection that contains a selection of their finest products & is available here.

Designed to give professional ironing results & in quicker time due to its four bar steam pressure I was excited to see if I could finally be proud of my ironing skills.  In fact I think I may have done a little happy dance at the words 'professional' & 'quicker'.

Before I tell you how I've got on with the FashionMaster, firstly let me tell you a little bit more about it's functions as you might be thinking well how can one ironing system differ that much from another.  Well let me tell you there's irons & then there's 'the iron'!  Following on from their  honeycomb drum design Miele have now incorporated this into the structure of the soleplate of the FashionMaster's iron.  Meaning that unlike other irons the steam is distributed at a high rate through small channels across the whole of the honeycomb plate, allowing the iron to glide smoothly & gently over clothing.  This together with the dry steam, which can either be applied in short bursts or continuously effectively penetrates even the thickest of fabrics & speeds up the whole ironing process.  In fact you don't even need to iron both sides of clothing including denim due to the high pressure of steam - how amazing is that!  And of course Miele being Miele they've thought of everything including specially designed storage compartments for the iron & power cable.

One of the problems I have with ironing is when you're trying to get the creases out of a garment but don't necessarily want it to be flattened & end up spending ages, well about 5 minutes in my case ;-) trying to get rid of the lines you've put in by ironing out the crease - like I say I'm not the best.  Well hello FashionMaster as it also has what they call 'gentle fabric care' which basically means the actual ironing board has a blower function, with the built in fans basically creating an air pocket between the clothing & ironing board to ensure the garments keep their shape as well as helping to prevent seam impressions - I can't be the only one to have convinced myself that these are normal when ironing prior to the arrival of my new BFF surely?!  In fact with the detachable non-stick soleplate you can even iron directly iron over sequins & other similar adornments & you don't even need to turn clothing inside out to prevent shiny spots when ironing dark clothing.

On top of this the FashionMaster has three intelligent functions built into it's board - the inflation function which ensures gentle smoothing of your ironing.  The suction function which allows the steam process to be more intense & is triggered by the steam function on the iron & lastly the memory function which stores the last setting used & will self activate upon use of the steam button.

Plus you can also buy a steamer attachment, which would make ironing dresses & jackets a thing of the past as it can be done vertically.  Which I must admit is incredibly appealing as I'm also thinking it would be perfect for all my pretty tops with pleat & frill detailing too.

When I first saw an image of the FashionMaster I must admit I was a little concerned at the size & where on earth I was going to store it, as it looked quite bulky from the picture.  But I needn't of being concerned as it's actually pretty compact, stores quite neatly & is incredibly easy to assemble & move around.

In terms of ease of use I've naturally put it to the test & through it's paces & what can I say except I might still have to hold an iron & stand over an ironing board but seriously it produces so much better results at a much faster pace that I'm impressed.  So much so I almost don't want hubby to don a jacket so people can admire the creases in his shirt ;-)  It's like playing dry cleaners with the swishing of steam & the clothing has it's own Marilyn Monroe moments with the fabric blowing up from the fans situated inside the ironing board.

As well as testing it on all the normal mundane weekly washing you'd find in any household I've also tried the FashionMaster on a few of my more precious items of clothing & can report back that it has produced great results on both cashmere & silk.  I've even used it on my beloved trench that ordinarily I would of had to take to the dry cleaners not only to be washed but I would never have dared iron it for fear of making it shiny but as you can see from the pictures below it's saved me another trip & the expense of the dry cleaners.  And it was incredibly easy to iron, with the iron gliding smoothly over my trench & having ironed directly on the outside of the coat with no tea towel to protect it I can confirm there's no shiny patches unlike a normal iron, nor are there any indentations from ironing over internal buttons.  Plus yup I only had to iron the one side of each sleeve :-)

Seriously I can't rate this product highly enough & have certainly fallen in love with it as quite frankly anything that makes my life easier, not to mention helps with the mundane task of ironing as well as producing better & faster results is up there with any BFF.  I almost want to stroke it every time I walk past it as it's transformed my Friday afternoons for ironing & released a lot of time due to only having to iron one side of each item.  Let alone the big plus that I can trust it with all my more delicate & precious items of clothing, including my investment pieces.

If you're tempted, you can take a look at the full spec of the FashionMaster here & to tempt you further I also have an exclusive discount code to share of TAE9471129, which will save you 20% not only off the FashionMaster but their entire Exclusive Collection, which contains a selection of their finest products.

  1. The ironing system looks pretty incredible! I really dislike ironing, so much that my daughter does it! I think the steamer would also come in handy as it would eliminate the need for two separate (bulky) appliances. I'll have to see if it is available in Canada yet!

    1. It's just brilliant Brenda & seriously needs to be tried to be believed. Like you say it's really compact & if you buy the additional steamer head this can also be stored in the storage drawers so it really doesn't take up much more room than a basic ironing & ironing board.
I just love the fact that you've trained your daughter to do the ironing - I've definitely missed a trick there haven't I!!

    2. My daughter does a great job too! She will be off to University next fall, however so I will have to learn to do it again!

    3. Oh no Brenda, although you've still got time to train hubby or save it for when she visits ;-)
