Morning ladies it that time of the month again where I take a peek at Marks & Spencer & highlight my top picks from their new into store selection.
I think it's safe to say we've not had the best start to the year weather wise & April can be a funny month with those pesky April showers (although if the weather forecast is to be believed we're due some good weather next week *crosses fingers*) so today as well as showcasing my top picks I'm also giving you some outfit inspiration on how I'd suggest styling them.
Of course April is traditionally trench coat weather & Marks have some great options if you're looking to purchase or upgrade your mac. From the traditional three quarter length to a cropped version such as the navy one above, there's lots of choice on offer both in terms of style & colour. I have both a three quarter length & a longer length version but I'm equally tempted by a shorter one. I think these look really chic when paired with jeans or cigarette pants as shown above.
Now April may traditionally be a wet month but for me it also generally marks the ditching of the heavy winter coats & saying hello to one of my favourite pieces of clothing to wear - the jacket, whether that be a blazer or biker jacket. Both really versatile pieces that can easily be dressed up or down not to mention paired with jeans, trousers, skirts & dresses alike. In fact if you're a jacket-a-holic like me you'll going to love the selection on offer at Marks this season. Everything from traditional classic blazers to gorgeous Chanel inspired tweed jackets to linen beauties that will be cooler to wear come the warmer weather.
As you can see from the outfits I've put together a blazer is the perfect finishing touch to many an outfit. Whether that be dressed down with jeans & trainers or for a smarter look cropped cigarette pants or even wide legged trousers.
As you'll know by now I like my wardrobe to work hard so generally favour separates that can be dressed up or down & mixed & matched. Mix in a splash of cashmere, the odd stripe & a tiny bit of colour & you've got my perfect wardrobe. I particularly think this top would soon earn it's keep as would this one & for laid back understated style this one.
Back to today & I'm styling up a couple of pieces I've picked from Marks' latest drop. As I've already mentioned Spring is all about the blazer for me so I just couldn't resist this longline double breasted blazer, which will fit in perfectly with all my wardrobe neutrals. Together with this stunning silk 'V' neck sleeveless top that is ideal under a jacket & perfect for dressing up or down so should prove a great addition. In fact I love it so much I've already 'clicked the button' on the cream version as these are going to prove invaluable over the coming months. I'm wearing an 8 in both the jacket, which is quite a loose casual fit, so if you wanted something more tailored it might be worth sizing down. I'm also wearing an 8 in the silk top & would say this is true to size. My final pick is this maxi slip, which will be perfect come the summer months under maxi skirts & dresses.
