Midlife Loves

That Time of Year....

Well I don't know about you but this last few days of glorious sunshine has got me thinking about my feet & the need for the 'less is more' variety of shoe attire that hot weather, swollen ankles brings.  Yup that's right I'm talking sandals!

Now for me, I love sandals, especially the flat variety which means I haven't got to worry about heel slippage or learning how to walk in heels.  Not to mention the breaking in of a new pair of shoes that for me only means the onslaught of blisters.  Plus add in the fact that I'm off the richter scale of claustrophobic & my feet stress at the merest suggestion of being restrained by enclosed shoes with the rise in temperature, means that for this type of weather sandals are where my feet are at their happiest & happy feet equals happy me!

Of course you'll be relieved to know I'm not from the sock & sandal school of thought.  However, seeing as we're not heavily endowed by sweltering ankle swelling heat for a large proportion of our glorious British summers I need my sandals to work hard & go with a whole heap of outfits whilst making my swollen, dry/cracked heeled feet look as pretty as is humanly possible!

Having taken a peek at what's on offer in the sandal department I have to admit that there is so much choice out there I could simply go wild (or wilder than normal!) in the aisles.  We are simply spoilt for choice, whether it be of the classic variety, the metallic sandal or even the rock chick studded variety.

So to put you all out of your sandal inducing misery & to give your feet a well earned break, here's my round up of the best sandals that have simply got my feet skipping at the thought of slipping into some of these babies!

The first look I am totally loving is the studded variety.  Now as some of you may recall earlier on in the dreary depths of February I rather optimistically brought a gorgeous pair of studded leopard print sandals from, yes you've guessed it Zara!!!  Well, you can't say I'm not consistent in the Zara and leopard print loving department that's for sure!  These beauties are still available, I mean really what maniac buys sandals in the depths of snow & ice other than the Bet loving kind!!  So first up I had to re-feature these because with the stud and the leopard print captured in a sandal means it really is my one true love!

Now if these little beauties don't rock your boat, & let's face it studs and leopard print may not be everyone's cup of tea what about metallic and studs?!!!   These (in my eye) are also gorgeous & have the added benefit that with being metallic will simply go with everything in your wardrobe.

But perhaps they're still a little bit too Iron Maiden for your liking so how about these tan ones from Steve Madden?  A bit more on the pricey side but oh my totally gorgeous & had me swooning in the aisles.

However, if the stud detail is a little bit too 'rock chick, chicky rock', then fear not there are also some lovely metallic detailed sandals out there which encompass the look without being too in your face.  Starting of course with my store crush Zara & these beautiful sandals which come in black or natural.  Again a little on the pricey side compared to others out there but simply gorgeous.

A little less in price & not so gladiator style is this gorgeous pair from Carvela, which are also available in blue.

Or may be these tan metallic stud ones from Next, which let's face it are a lot more reasonable in price.

But if studs or metallic detail simply aren't your thing what about these gorgeous gold gladiator sandals from Zara.  I have to admit these too might have found their way into my wardrobe (see outfits 2 & 3!).  They're a really soft gold & will go with everything so are a definite for featuring heavily over the coming months, provided of course the weather plays ball!

If however, you'd prefer a silver sandal then these silver ones from Bertie could be just the trick.  Again in a gladiator style & can be worn with any colour under the sun, & for those wanting a coloured sandal they're also available in either metallic blue or red.

However, if you prefer less of a gladiator feel what about these ones from Marks & Spencers, which have the plus of having a small wedge heel to them.

Or may be these lovely silver ones from Next.

However, if metallic is not your bag, then in my opinion you can't beat tan, again another great colour to go with anything & in my view a real classic.

I absolutely love these tan and silver ones from John Lewis, which are a bit on the pricey side but just elegantly beautiful.

Or at a more reasonable price what about these ones from Wallis.

And finally finishing up with where we started, what about these tan & leopard print ones from Next.

So there you have it there's my lust list of sandals for the impending heatwave inducing months.  Finally on less of a heatwave inducing feel here's a round up of what I've been wearing the last few days.

Have a great few days & don't work too hard x

  1. I've already gone sandal crazy! Bought so e diamanté flip flops in the depths of winter, River Island tan gladiators last week and I just ordered yesterday some gold Aldo Talulah sandals which I'm in love with! Can't resist sandals and summer footwear so I'm with you! Quite tempted by the Zara natural ones... Lynne x

  2. I love the look of sandals and have bought countless pairs, but I am a lazy cow when it comes to dressing. On a hot summer day if I have a ballet pump and strappy sandals side by side guess which I go for? It's all that bending down and faffing with buckles, an elasticated pair of any of the above I might just go for, wouldn't really care about the design, just ease of access!

    1. I know what you mean, especially if you're going out clothes shopping and then for me it's flip flops. I got a great pair from M&S last year that are gold with a little bit of bling so perfect for days where you don't want the hassle of buckles :) x

  3. Buckles are a bind aren't they? I'm so used to just sticking my feet in a pair of ballet pumps and setting off without so much of a thought that it's taking a bit of getting used to fiddling with straps and things. But some lovely offerings there. I like the pair you already have and whilst walking round Zara yesterday, for some reason the shoes and sandals seemed to fit me for a change (I must have tried on all the ones which didn't fit me properly previously). But I had to walk away, I've spent up my shoe quota this month and I spent some of it in good ol' M&S of all places. Sometimes, they just put out a winner when you least expect it!

  7. Fabulous selection ... but forgive me if I go slightly off topic .. I ADORE the draped tops you're wearing from Zara. Are they current stock and do they have sleeves? As always your outfits are stunning.

    1. Thanks Helen, they're great tops that you can just throw on & not have to think about. Yes they are current (think they do them in about 4 colours) but sadly sleeveless I'm afraid x
