So the holiday is well & truly over & I’m now slap
bang back into reality & surrounded by a pile of washing & ironing as
big as Mount Everest…...okay that might be just a slight exaggeration but I’m
sure you get the picture!
So following on from my previous post I have based today’s
blog on my daytime looks for said holiday.
Now in previous years when our son was younger & we have
self catered I’ll admit to being a TOTAL slob on the daywear front & in the
interests of reducing packing, washing & ironing taken only one or two
items to do the ever vital supermarket run.
After all when self catering if you’re anything like me (& of course
I accept it could just be me in the Waynetta camp) apart from a sundress/shorts
for said supermarket all I’ve previously lived in during the day is bikinis, as
my outfits for breakfast have either consisted of nightwear (& no I don’t
mean an outfit from the previous night having just stumbled back in the wee
small hours but nightwear that consists of the sleep variety). Or if I’d made an effort swimwear having
creamed up ready to hit the sun lounger.
Or if I’m being totally honest more often than not a state of
undress/dressed between sleepwear & swimwear ;-)
However, luckily for hubby & son they no longer have to
put up with such an off putting sight over breakfast, as at the hotel where we
now stay people tend to make an effort, changing afterwards to hit the
pool. So in the interests of wishing to
blend in & not be like the guy I saw baring all on his balcony this year
(& no before you ask he was not a hunk in trunks or without as was the
case!!!) I now take a variety of outfits for daytime.
Now as I’m one of those people that likes to get the
housework, washing & ironing completed ASAP on our return from holiday
(which generally means I feel I need another holiday to get over the catch up -
mad I know but what can I say that’s me!!!) I try & take just a few tops
& bottoms that can be worn for various occasions during the holiday. That way minimising the washing & ironing
& also resulting in space in the case for the odd bit of holiday shopping
that I may or may not do, if I should just happen to stumble across some shops
(of course when I say stumble I mean cunningly lead hubby & son too! ;-)
So without further ado here’s my daytime outfits from this
years break from reality.

Now having just looked back on my outfit pictures for the holiday I’ve realised that in my haste for a pot of refreshing green tea (or as those of you that are following me on Twitter will realise when I say green tea I obviously mean bubbles…..well a girl’s not going to say no to bubbles for breakfast ;-) ) I've forgotten to take a couple of pictures. However fear not said outfits were not too exciting & were basically a variation of outfit six with the substitution of my cream camisole for a black & also a navy one with some different accessories & sandals. Plus of course some outfits were worn on a couple of occasions.

So there you have it my daytime looks from this year’s
holiday. What do you think? Have you mastered the art of travelling light
or do you take a whole heap of clothes & then only end up wearing half of
them? Perhaps you’re like me & try
& reduce the work load for your return & just take a couple of outfits
for when you have to ‘get dressed’, as let’s face it, it’s generally so
gloriously hot & steaming on holiday that the less clothes the better in my
opinion providing of course your modesty is intact ;-)
As always I love hearing your thoughts & would love to
know what ends up in your suitcase.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend & I’ll be back in a few
days with pictures of my eveningwear x
As always, you didn't put a foot wrong on holiday. Loving the camisoles with the shorts. Definitely picking some of them up next summer.
ReplyDeleteGood to have you back! Hope it's not too cold back home, Ax
Thanks Avril.....I seem to have lived in my camisoles since I brought them...so useful & of course they go with everything x
DeleteJane I've loved these last 2 posts and will refer back to these for my next sun holiday as you've shown great capsule packing. All your outfits look great. X
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo for such a lovely compliment....you've made my day :-) x
DeleteLoving all of your holiday looks!
ReplyDeleteLaura xo
Thanks Laura x
DeleteOh, I love your post! I am going to try and find that red Zara top. And if the denim shorts I've ordered don't work, I'll try yours. Are they true to size?
ReplyDeleteThanks Belinda, it's such a great top....very easy to dress up or down & such a beautiful colour. These aren't the exact same ones as my denim shorts but are very similar...as for sizing I'd say they're more or less true to size. Good luck with the search for the top! x
DeleteI actually need those Zara sandals !!!!! I have been looking for a pair that goes with everything for o long now xxx

They're great aren't they & on the plus side if you can get a couple of pairs that go with everything there's more room in the case for clothes ;-) x
DeleteGorgeous day outfits - every one of them! Love them all. Can't go wrong with denim shorts and I love that yellow New Look maxi. Lynne x
ReplyDeleteThanks Lynne...denim shorts are just so easy to wear aren't they, plus a couple of different tops & you at least feel like you're wearing a different outfit x
DeleteBrilliant posts. Fab capsule wardrobe, I will bookmark this as inspiration for my next holiday wardrobe. Now - i hope this is not too personal a question...I love the camisoles....but what kind of bra do you wear with them? I need to wear a bra, and I love the cami's but thats what stops me from making the purchase.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
HI Cookie & thanks for the lovely comments. I wear an M&S strapless bra under my camis similar to this one http://www.marksandspencer.com/Pack-Strapless-Padded-A-D-Bras/dp/B004FXZW56?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_4&nodeId=43251030&sr=1-4&qid=1376826407
DeleteHope this helps! x
