Bomber Jackets for SS14 & What I'm Wearing

I don't know about you but there seems to be a few things making a revival this spring/summer that I'm a little unsure of.  Now I've already posted of my sitting on the fence of the trainer revival (click here) but another item that has me firmly perched is the return of the bomber jacket.

Ok so I've never disguised my love of a jacket or two ;-) but I'm talking a tailored classic jacket not a looser fit bomber jacket.  If I'm being totally honest when I think of a bomber jacket I instantly think of this sort of image.......

Why I think of this goodness only knows as it's not as if this was a look I went for the last time said bomber was in fashion & luckily for me my crewcut has now finally grown out (only joking!!!).  But I did rock a bomber many moons ago, a lovely tan suede one I was luckily enough to be given one Christmas but despite several years wearing it I could never say I was in love with it, which might explain my reluctance to go down this route this season.

But having seen several highly stylish & wonderful bloggers totally rocking the look & in the interests of keeping an open mind I've taken a look on the high street & have come up with these beauties, which could just possibly see me climbing off the fence!!

So first up is this reversible one from Mango.  Now I have to admit I'm not loving the colours or the pattern of the fabric so can't see that I'd ever want to reverse it but I do like the khaki teamed with the black edging.  I can see this looking pretty fab teamed with a cami, some cuffed styled fitted trousers & heels for a night out.

Sticking with the patterned bomber then this one from H&M is pretty cool & would work well teamed with black, grey, cream or khaki.  I'm loving the look styled with the faux leather trousers as well.

Another patterned bomber but this time from Next, which is styled exactly as I think I'd wear said bomber jacket, if I manage to climb off the fence that is!!!  I'd personally like to see the cuffs of the trouser leg being more fitted & of course would want to slip a statement necklace on to boot...maybe some chunky pearls?!!!

If however, you want pattern & colour then you're not going to go far wrong with this next bomber jacket from Topshop.  How amazing would this look teamed with navy?

Moving away from the patterned bomber but sticking with colour then this red one from Next looks pretty amazing & such a lovely shade of red that it could practically entice me off the fence for its colour alone!!

This next jacket from Next also looks pretty cool & looks fab teamed with the distressed boyfriend jeans.  And for those of you who've taken the plunge with the slip on trainers how cool would this charcoal one looked teamed with a pair, say leopard print ones & a slouchy 'V' neck white t-shirt - hell I think I may have gone down a rung on the fence on both the jacket front & the slip of trainers with that image alone!!!

Sticking with Next (they seem to have the best selection on the high street) & this faux leather trimmed bomber, which just looks that little bit smarter in appearance & something much more within my comfort zone, although I'm not sure on the ties at the bottom - they would probably have to have the snip!!

Sticking with black for the colour of choice for said bomber then I'm also loving the look of this faux leather croc one from Topshop, which although I haven't seen it in the flesh would probably be a great one for all year round versatility.

Or for a more light weight jacket what about this one from Mango?

And finally I'm also loving the look of this pique bomber from Gap.

So there you have my round up of bomber jackets that I just may be tempted to take for a test drive.  How about you have you been tempted?  Or perhaps you can remember the last time the bomber jacket was in fashion & are determined not to go back there?

As always I'd love to hear your thoughts not to mention how you'll be styling yours.

    1. Thanks Donna, they do say if you keep things longs enough they come back into fashion....which is now making me doubt my major wardrobe haul last weekend :-0 Looking forward to seeing how you style your bomber jacket.

  7. I'm mad looking a bomber jacket but am trying to be good while on maternity leave, and I'm not sure I'll get much wear out of it as I have so many jackets already. That outfit of yours is stunning Jane, loving that sweatshirt!!

    1. I love them styled on others Andrea, just not sure they're me. I think the nearest I'm going to get is my round neck faux leather quilted jacket that I've had for a couple of years!
