Your Own Personal Style Adviser & WIWT

Have you ever fancied being colour coded or have someone on hand (other than the hubby who grunts & says fine without even looking up at what you're showing him) to give you some advice?!!  I'm sure if you're anything like me there's plenty of times we've all wished we could 'phone a friend' when getting ready to go out.  So I was intrigued when Wallis asked me to review their new Style Adviser app.

I was lucky enough to recently meet up with a new friend who is trained in colour coding & very kindly told me my colours, so with this in mind I thought it would be interesting to put Wallis' Style Adviser to the test to see if it came up with similar colours & suggestions.

Getting started is pretty simple & takes approximately 10 minutes to complete.  Asking a series of questions designed to get to know a bit about you & your body, ranging from your colour of eyes, hair & skin to body shape, height, weight & age.  Luckily the Style Adviser is the perfect friend to keep a secret so no worries of your age or weight ever getting out ;-)

It even goes into the detail of wanting to know if there are parts of your body your want to hide or like exposing as well as how you usually spend your weekdays.  Together with what colours you like, if you like clothes shopping & what advice you are after - fashion tips or a full style makeover.  Finally it asks you what size clothing you take in other high street stores & gives a quick few examples of clothing based on your answers it feels you will like & dislike which you can agree or disagree with.

Then after entering your name, email address & setting a password you get to enter & see not only the clothing your Style Adviser has selected for you but advice on the best styles to suit you, new in items that would work for you & whole outfit suggestions for all occasions.  It's even organises its suggestions into trousers/skirts, dresses, coats/jackets, knitwear, tops, accessories, shoes & handbags so if you're looking for a particular item it makes it easy to find your suggestions.  In fact the whole thing is incredibly easy to use & navigate.

As part of my review Wallis kindly allowed me to select one of my style adviser's personal recommendations, for which I chose this pair of snake print block heeled leather sandals as I love a smaller heeled pair I have in tan.  This style is perfect for me as it has a sturdy heel to be able to walk normally in & with the ankle strap means I don't need to worry about any Cinderella moments of leaving my shoe behind or apply any toupee tape to keep said heeled shoe on.  Plus of course they are great for wearing with trousers or skirts so will be a great addition to my wardrobe & I almost love snake print as much as leopard print so what more could a girl ask for?!

Now with us currently being in full on sale mode I thought it rude not to take a peak at their sale & seeing as it's got me seriously tempted to click the button I thought you might like to see my picks....although be warned sizes are selling out fast!

Starting with with love gold panel knit top....well we all know my inner magpie can't resist a bit of bling & this looks lovely & subtle.  I can really see this looking fab with some distressed jeans & sun-kissed skin.

And I only need to see the words 'animal print' to have me going weak at the knees but this dress is a stunning take on animal print & would be perfect for dressing up or down.

I love the neckline of this cream top.  Again a great top for either dressing down with jeans or pairing with wax effect jeans for a smarter evening look not to mention a pencil skirt for work.

Seeing as I love the dress I'm also loving the top too.  How fab would this look teamed with a short skater skirt?

As I've said before I love this shade of pink teamed with denim & think this would really work with some rolled up boyfriend jeans.

Another useful top for dressing up or down fab with faux leather leggings in winter or distressed boyfriend jeans & a pair of leopard print ballet pumps for the school run.

Moving onto trousers & you can't go wrong with a pair of tailored cigarette trousers & a great alternative to a pair of jeans when you fancy a change.

Finally metallic ballet pumps are a wardrobe essential.  I could quite easily exist with a pair of gold & silver shoes (not that I'll be admitting that to the hubby any time soon!!!).

Finally here's my outfit for today, off out for a family get together & I just couldn't resist pairing my outfit with my new block heeled sandals.

  3. I tried the app but it didn't do much for me. I've always wanted to get a colour analysis. Let me know if you have any tips on finding someone who knows how to do that please!

    1. Hi Sara I'm not sure where you're based but you should get in touch with the lovely Claire (http://www.clairereesps.blogspot.co.uk) for your colour analysis. I'm trying now to only buy colours that I know work for me, which at least narrows down all the wonderful choices on offer!!

    1. Alexandra I think it takes time for the app to build a picture of what styles etc you like, I've started to go through all the suggestions to saying if I like certain styles etc so that it can build a better picture up. It might be worth preservering.

  13. I used to shop in Wallis 45 years ago but thought I was to old to go there now (I'm 69) however, just recently I have bought some fabulous tops and intend to get more now I realise I'm not to old to look fashionable.

    1. Hi you're never to old to look fashionable, I think it's more about finding a style that suits your lifestyle & embracing it.
