April's Wardrobe Classic & My OOTD

For this month's wardrobe classic it's got to be a mac as traditionally April has been a month of showers, although I've noticed in recent years we seem to have a glorious April (as seems to be the case again this month) followed by a wet May (although fingers crossed it may be different this year!!).  So with this in mind I thought I'd tempt fate & feature my edit of the best macs/trench coats that are currently available on the high street.

Of course it doesn't have to be raining for you to be able to wear your mac, as it can also be a great lightweight coat to wear to keep off the chill from the wind or just as an alternative to a jacket/blazer.

Plus it's safe to say that a mac is never going to go out of fashion & can really help pull an outfit together, as you can see with how this first one from Hush has been styled.  I just love everything about this look & who doesn't have a pair of jeans & a breton/striped top lurking in their wardrobe to re-create it.

Keeping with the traditional trench, this one from Mango also looks fab & has again been styled perfectly with skinny jeans & a classic white shirt.

Still classic but a darker & more practical colour with this cotton trench, which is again just a lovely colour to team with denim & white to recreate a stylish & classic look.

Moving away from the tradition of a beige/camel mac now & I just love this unlined trench from Mint Velvet.  Now it's described as pale khaki on their website but from the picture it looks more like a soft grey to me.  Again classic in design & style but the colour just makes it look that little bit different & it looks stunning teamed with an all white outfit.

Another lovely one from Mint Velvet with this cowl neck trench in steel, which would be a great colour for not having to worry about getting it marked & is a great take on the traditional style.

Back to a soft grey with this one from Monsoon.  Love it teamed with the cobalt blue & of course on cooler days macs are perfect for layering over a jacket or blazer.

Another soft grey one with this next one from Mango, again just perfect for throwing on & I'd love to style this with a pair of white trainers, boyfriend jeans & a simple tee.

Loving this navy one from Marks & Spencer too.  Simple in design but so perfect for teaming with either a smart pair of trousers or dressed down with jeans & a pair of flats.

And finally how about making an impact with this stunning red one from Boden.  Personally I'd remove the hood but this would look fantastic teamed with a breton & jeans & reminds me I must wear my Wallis red one.

Boden Rainyday Mac

Finishing with my outfit for today, needless to say having written a post on macs there's not a cloud in the sky but things are looking a bit differently for the end of the week!

So what do you think?  Are you a lover of the classic mac/trench?  If so how do you style yours?  Is it something that's only pulled out of the wardrobe on wet damp days or do you wear it regardless of the weather?  Or maybe you just don't see what all the fuss is about & won't be parted from your parka?

As always I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Happy 'hump' day & see you tomorrow :-)

    1. Thanks Anne, I quite fancy a navy, khaki & grey one but I already own a camel & red one so perhaps I should just admire from afar!

  3. I adore the one from Mint Velvet as well as both options from Mango. I've just one mac, in Blush, with a lovely ruffled collar but I just realised I've never worn it. I suppose it's the weather here, either exceedingly chilly or just too hot for anything but a sleeveless top.

  4. Love the way the Hush trench has been styled so that's my fav! Thankfully I have this trend covered and seem to accrued a couple of trench's, though I'm yet to wear them as we have gone from chillier weather into full on sunshine, no coat needed! Looking lovely in your outfit today Jane xx

  5. I do have a Mac from Next which I've had for years but I never wear it. By the time spring comes, I normally can't wait to wear my denim jacket and utility jacket. Love your look, Jane. Lynne xx
