Summer days not to mention holiday season is truly upon us so for this month's wardrobe essential it simply had to be shorts. Perfect for teaming with a simple tee or cami & a pair of flip flops for lazy sunny days but equally ideal for layering with a long sleeved shirt & trainers on cooler days & finished with a denim jacket or oversized cardi. Not to mention when teamed with the right top & statement pair of shoes they can also look fabulous for a dressier occasion - evening attire on holiday or a get together with friends.
So let's get cracking & see what on the high street has taken my fancy.
First of I just love these satin waisted bermudas from Mango. Now we all know how useful black can be for teaming with most colours so perfect for packing light for holidays & matching with several tops. But of course black is also fantastic for hiding dirt so no worries about wearing them on your first evening, spilling drink or food down them (or in my case probably both!) & not being able to wear them again for the remainder of your time. Although the thing that I truly love about this pair is their satin waistband. I love simple, classic pieces that just have that small amount of extra detailing & this pair of shorts is never going to date. Plus of course the smarter waistband makes these perfect for dressing up of an evening.
Talking of wardrobe classics then what about these high waist turn ups from Whistles. A great stylish pair that are sure to earn their keep on a a cost per wear basis.
Marks & Spencer have this similar pair that are available in navy or white if you don't fancy black. Again both perfect for teaming with most items in our wardrobe & would look fabulous worn with a simple breton top & some statement jewellery not to mention they come with their own belt too!
Again vary similar in design but available in a whole host of colours are these ones from Next & at a very purse friendly price of £16.
Or even cheaper still are these cotton blend ones from Mango - perfect if you're not sure shorts are for you, or just want a cheap pair for wearing to breakfast or down to the pool on your holidays.
Of course every wardrobe should also have at least one pair of denim shorts & naturally the high street is awash with lots of lovely styles to tempt us.
I just love the colour of this vintage wash pair from French Connection with the turn up, simply stylish, classic & timeless.
Or if you prefer a more medium shade of denim, what about these ones from Mango?
Or for a light shade of denim these ones from Next look perfect.
For something a little bit different in the denim department then what about these grey ones from Next. I just love everything about these & am seriously tempted to get clicking that button!
Although I'm also loving this black distressed pair from Mango - gorgeous & perfect for casual summer days.
So there you have my selection. Now back to today & here's what I'm wearing for an early start & a day out in London. Our son is meeting up with a couple of Belgium friends who he meets up with each year on holiday & happen to be over for the weekend & hubby & I are planning on a leisurely lunch & a spot of shopping. I just couldn't resist breaking out my new M&S tee just the right amount of sparkle & stripes resulting in love at first sight & a desire to wear it straight away!

So what do you think, are you a shorts girl at heart come the warmer months? And if so what's your preference? Perhaps you're a denim girl through & through or do you like to incorporate some colour, maybe even pattern? I'd love to hear your thoughts & how you style yours.
Have a fab day.
I do love getting my shorts out come Summertime! My favourites are a really old pair of Vero Moda ones I bought on holiday one year! I'd quite like a dressier pair....think they would be lovely with some heels and an off the shoulder top for a night out! The first Mango ones would be perfect I reckon! ;0) xx
ReplyDeleteThe Mango ones are stunning aren't they Michelle, a real classic!
