I was recently approached by The Dressing Room, an online & award winning boutique based in St Albans to see if I would like to style a special American Vintage T-Shirt that has been designed to celebrate their 10th anniversary.
But before I show you my new tee, I thought I'd tell you a little something about The Dressing Room. Established some ten years ago the store mixes niche & established brands including Becksondergaard (they're the official UK partner), Olivia Burton, Great Plains, Ash Footwear, Ashiana & the stunning ChloBo jewellery to name just a small few. They really do have some gorgeous & unique pieces that are constantly taunting me via their Instagram feed. I mean seriously a girl could do some serious damage as you really are spoilt for choice. Plus they even offer free UK delivery, which is always a huge bonus in my book, as I don't know about you but I hate paying delivery charges.
Having not seen any American Vintage pieces in the flesh I was pretty intrigued *hugely excited* to open my parcel & see the t-shirt in all it's glory, as like I say the company are celebrating their 10th anniversary. And I wasn't disappointed, the t-shirt has a specific artisanal treatment giving it a real vintage & worn look which is just perfect for dressing down a more tailored outfit & whilst it's what I would call a 'slogan' t-shirt it's not too in your face or obvious so perfect for fitting in with my existing wardrobe.
Another plus is that it's a great loose fit, which I also think helps a slogan tee look cooler & less try hard.
The brand are renowned for being perfect for layering & the thickness which allows the t-shirt to drape & fall, not to mention the softness of the fabric really reinforces this. So much so I think their tees would be perfect as a basis for any wardrobe, as since introducing a few loose fit t-shirts to my own wardrobe I've realised how incredibly useful they are all year round & a real wardrobe staple.
So before I show you how I've styled my celebratory t-shirt I thought I'd share the ones that are now on my list for the perfect additions to a capsule wardrobe as they're ideal for layering up now that Autumn has arrived.
Of course there are lots of other stunning colours & styles, which you can see here but the above ones would be perfect as a starting point on which to build!
Back to my t-shirt now & hopefully from this close up of the back of the top of the t-shirt you'll get a feel for what I mean when I say it has a real vintage look about it. I just love how it also celebrates their special anniversary too but not in a shout out loud way.
And here's how I've styled it. As soon as I saw it I just knew I had to team it with my tuxedo jacket & distressed jeans. I've then added a leopard print belt for a little colour & pattern & finished the look off with my Zara studded flats.
As you can see the dog was once again wanting in on the action & not budging from the sunshine!
Jacket - Hush £65
T-Shirt - American Vintage £40
Belt - Mango £15.99
Jeans - Mango £39.99
Shoes - Zara £39.99
So what do you think? Do you like how I've styled my new tee? I reckon it's going to prove to be one of those timeless classics & I'm certainly planning on adding to my collection with some of the ones I've featured above. How about you have you heard of, or own any American Vintage? If so I'd love to hear your thoughts & what styles you've picked.
Have a great day & see you tomorrow.
