My Edit Of Military Coats & WIWT

Morning ladies, I can't believe it's the 1st of November already, which means it's time to start thinking winter coats!

Now I've yet to bring my coats out to play - if you're anything like me you'll put it off as long as you can as who wants to admit that winter is finally here & of course we've been very lucky with some lovely mild sunny days.  However, if you haven't done so already you'll soon be dragging them out from the back of the wardrobe as temperatures are unfortunately only going to go one way & sadly that's not up - just yet!

I don't know about you but I can't resist buying a new coat each year as come the depths of winter it can feel like the only thing you wear when you're out & about & of course it's a great way to embrace the season's latest trends & update a simple jeans & sweater combo.

Needless to say there are lots of styles out there from the classic camel coat, the reefer jacket to the wrap around & not forgetting a faux fur or two, which are all classics & great investments that can be bought out to play year after year but the style that was a 'must have' for me this season was the military coat.

Naturally the high street is awash with the trend with prices, styles & colours to suit everyone so today I thought I'd share with you my picks.

One brand that seems to have totally captured the look is Wallis & they have some great offerings not to mention a great discount at the moment.  So I'm starting with this military funnel coat.  For some reason there's just something about the brass buttons that instantly attracts me to this style & adds an element of interest to the plainest of looks.

Wallis Black Military Funnel Coat

This next jacket from Mango is a cross between your classic reefer with a military twist - team this with a classic white shirt, skinny jeans & statement shoes/boots & you've got a really stylish & chic look.

Mango Double Breasted Wool Coat

Or very similar but slightly longer in length & single breasted is this gorgeous one.  I think this would look amazing teamed with a loose roll neck jumper, wide legged trousers & trainers for effortless cool.

Mango Double Breasted Wool Coat

Another beauty from Wallis with this black crepe one, that would be ideal for teaming over a dress perfect for work or if you've got a winter wedding.

A little bit more simplistic with this next coat from Warehouse - can you see what I mean about gold buttons really adding a little something?!

Warehouse Longline Utility Jacket

Now this full length double breasted number is stunning isn't it & exactly what I had in mind when I visualised purchasing a classic military inspired coat this season but this one is only available in black & I wanted a navy one.

Marks and Spencer Speziale Wool Rich Double Breasted Overcoat

Another black one very similar in style to the one above but at a much better price.

Mango Wool Overcoat

However, luckily for me I found this stunning one in navy, which of course only meant one thing & the button was clicked in an instant!  I can't wait to wear this with a simple breton, skinny distressed jeans & leopard print court shoes.

Wallis W Navy Military Coat

If however, you're looking for something a little shorter in length then fear not as there's lots of beauties to choose from!

La Redoute Laura Clement Military Style Double Breasted Coat

Really love the stand up collar with this next one.

And the gold edging on this beauty.

La Redoute Soft Grey Wool Military Style Jacket

Or for timeless chic you'll not go wrong with this navy stunner.

La Redoute Mademoiselle R Double Breasted Wool Mix Coat

However, if you fancy an alternative to navy or black then I've found this maxi length beauty.

ASOS Coat in Maxi Length and Military Detail

Or another great neutral is this grey double breasted number.

Mango Double Breasted Coat

And finally still military but this time a cape version.  How stunning would this look teamed with knee high boots & jeans on the school run?

Back to today & I'm keeping things simple with a summer boho top teamed with my biker jacket.

  1. I don't suit military style and I don't wear black if baby either!! I love my parka and I also have a camel cost and a fluffy cream one which I love. Lynne xx

    1. Lynne you're so good at sticking to your colours. I'm not sure I could survive without any black or navy in my wardrobe but a parka & a camel coat are also such great wardrobe staples in the coat department aren't they?!
