I don't know about you but Christmas seems to be approaching at an alarming rate & whilst I've been concentrating on making sure I've bought everyone's presents I've not really started to think about what I'm going to be wearing for the party season & Christmas day itself.
One thing I hate about special occasions is the thought of buying a glamorous outfit that will only be worn once maybe twice a year & spend the rest of it's life hanging in my wardrobe with me occasionally stroking it & longing to bring it out to play but needing the right occasion. I love getting dressed up but equally I love clothes that can be dressed up or down & can fit in with my lifestyle. So today I thought I'd create a few outfits for the party season from separates that are not only perfect for dressing up but would also make great wardrobe additions too. Plus they can also come out to play all year long no matter what the occasion.
So first up how stunning is this off the shoulder maxi dress from Topshop? Totally elegant & timeless that would be perfect if you've got a black tie event teamed with a simple faux fur stole but equally would look fabulous teamed with a biker jacket for a more funky & casual feel. And of course all the accessories can easily be used all year round, team the sequin clutch with jeans, heels & a simple white shirt for a night out or throw the stole over your one shoulder & team with a blazer to bring a touch of elegance to a daytime look.
Dress - Topshop £65
Stole - Coast £75
Clutch - John Lewis £28
Sandals - Dune £85
Moving onto the beloved tux next. Such a great wardrobe staple that can be dressed up as shown below or equally worn as separates - team the tuxedo jacket with jeans or dress the cigarette trousers down with a chunky knit & trainers for the day or even a classic white shirt & ballet pumps come the warmer months. The options are endless.
Tuxedo Jacket - Topshop £75
Camisole - Mango £29.99
Clutch - John Lewis £24
Cigarette Trousers - Topshop £50
Shoes -Ted Baker £140
This next outfit I so need the reason *excuse* to buy. The skirt could so easily be teamed with a simple grey marl tee & a tux jacket to create a second outfit or a simple cami & sandals for summer holidays. And the white blouse would look amazing teamed with a simple pair of jeans. I shall definitely be hitting the button on this if I get the right sort of invitation but if not shall be watching like a hawk to see if these items make it into the sales.
Blouse - Alice Temperley £59
Necklace - Marks & Spencer £18
Skirt - Coast Currently £111.20
Shoes - Dune £85
Moving onto the jumpsuit for my next outfit. Now several years ago I bought a simple black strapless jumpsuit that I've had so much use from dressed up or down, worn for New Years Eve as well as of an evening on our summer holidays I've been surprised just how useful I've found it. I love the lace & cross over detailing on the one below & would also be perfect for teaming with a cream tuxedo or even a biker jacket to create a couple of different looks.
Jumpsuit - Next £55
Necklace - Marks & Spencer £25
Stole - Coast £49
Clutch - Coast £55
Sandals - Next £28
And for my final outfit I don't think you can go wrong with a little black dress accessorised with a spot of 'Bet'. Again great useful items that are going to be extremely multi-tasking.
Dress - Wallis Currently £28
Clutch - Dune £65
Court Shoes - Sam Edelman £150

I love the understated look of the black dress and leopard print accessories. The tuxedo jacket also caught my eye. Some great outfits - thanks Jane!
