Oils Of Life With The Body Shop & My OOTD

Morning ladies today I'm looking at skincare & in particular The Body Shop's Oils Of Life range.

Now it's no secret that I'm a huge lover of La Roche Posay & if you're interested you can see my full skincare regime here.  But when I was recently approached by The Body Shop to see if I'd be interested to trial their new skincare range I thought it would make great research.  After all it doesn't hurt to compare & review your skincare regime does it?!

As someone who has always suffered from oily/combination skin the word 'oil' & 'skincare' have always sent a shiver down my spine.  Why would I want to put oil on skin that already has tendencies to be a little greasy & prone to the odd spot?!!  But having looked at The Body Shop's website to investigate the range further I was intrigued.

So what does their website say?  Well the Oils of Life range contains 3 precious seed oils - black cumin seed oil (which is known for its concentration in antioxidants), camellia seed oil (which is naturally rich in nutritive oleic acid) & rosehip seed oil (which is rich in Omega 3 & 6).  Body Shop state their Oils of Life range will intensely revitalise your skin & revive radiance.  Two things I think most of us are looking for in our skincare.

On top of this they claim that oils have the ability to enable you to see "the radiance & suppleness being restored & dull skin coming back to life".

Plus if you're like me & very wary of using oil on your skin some oils have anti-bacterial, anti-microbial & anti-fungal properties which can help reduce breakouts.  Not to mention the use of oil can help prevent water loss from the skin & maintain skin hydration.

All in all it sounds like the answer to many a prayer.

So here's what I was sent.

My Midlife Fashion, The Body Shop Oils Of Life, Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Essence Oil, Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil, Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Sleeping Cream, Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Cream

So how do you incorporate these products into your routine?  Well firstly I have been cleansing my face morning & evening using my normal products.  Then I have been applying a few drops of the Intensely revitalising Essence Lotion onto a cotton wool pad & applying to my face.  Followed by the Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil, which I've been using every morning & evening by massaging 1-2 drops onto my face & neck prior to applying my facial cream.  Which of a morning has been the Intensely Revitalising Cream & then of an evening Intensely Revitalising Sleeping Cream which I've also been applying to my décolleté as well as my neck & then using my normal eye creams.

So how have I been finding the products?  Well firstly as I mentioned earlier I had worries about my skin feeling greasy/oily but I can honestly say these products absorb extremely quickly into the skin & none of them have felt heavy or have left me with the feeling that I could feel them sitting on my skin.  Plus a little certainly goes a long way - with the oils I have only needed a couple of drops & with the creams a pea sized amount per application.  They also smell incredibly fresh & spa like, which I've found incredibly uplifting & calming & because they remind me of a spa they have felt luxurious to use.

Now I've only been using the products for just over a couple of weeks so can't yet comment on the claim that 'after 4 weeks the skin's radiance is revived & skin appears smoother' but I can definitely see the difference on my winter skin that's been exposed to all winter's harsh elements when running first thing of a morning without any cream or barrier.  Plus I've previously not used a cream on my décolleté but I shall definitely be continuing as it's something that I've been thinking I should start doing recently anyway & I just love the jellified feeling of this cream.

As to whether I will continue with the products, having already been in love with my existing skin care routine I think I shall probably use this range for periods when I feel my skin needs additional hydration such as certain times during the winter & also during & after our summer holidays but I can certainly recommend it.  So if you're thinking about changing your regime then I'd definitely give this one a go, in fact I've just recommended it to my mum!

So ladies has anyone tried The Body Shop's Oils of Life range?  If so I'd love to hear your thoughts.  Perhaps you've been thinking about it but like me put off by the word 'oil'.  If so then don't be as the products are really lovely on the skin & don't leave a greasy/oil feel at all & a little really does go a long way.

Right I'm off to tackle my 'to do' list for work.  Have a lovely day & remember you can still get 25% off with free postage & delivery at Boden, see here & use code K6W6 at checkout.

I'll be back in the morning.

  1. I have used the oil and I do like it. I also use and even restock (gasp!) Body Shop's Camomile Cleansing Butter - fab as a hot cloth cleanser and in a recycle-able tin.

    1. Ooh I've not seen the Camomile Cleansing Butter Cindy but will definitely take a look next time I'm passing a Body Shop. If you've replaced it, it must be good!
      Thanks for the recommendation.
