Dune Amalfie Point Toe Stiletto Court Shoes
Morning ladies, today I thought we'd talk partywear, as like it or not Christmas is fast approaching so it's time to start dusting off our sparkly numbers & get ready to party!
I don't know if it's because we went away to Dubai in October & so in my head it still feels like the end of summer when we usually get back from some summer sun, but I for one just can't quite get my head around the fact that the big day is a matter of weeks away. I also have the small matter of my birthday in early December & I always set myself the benchmark of trying to get all my Christmas shopping & cards written by the end of November so I can enjoy the celebrations. But I must say this year it's looking a lot less likely unless I get my act together.
So far the only things I've got sorted are our plans for Christmas Eve, the big day itself & New Year's Eve, which this year will involve putting on our gladrags as it's a black tie do. So I was delighted when House of Fraser recently contacted me to see if I'd be interested in putting together some partywear outfits as that will at least be one box ticked on the ridiculous check list us ladies give ourselves this time of year in the effort to make everything perfect & the best Christmas yet! Now just in case hubby is reading this I've got a couple of ideas of what I might wear New Year's Eve, but it doesn't hurt to look for inspiration or some different options does it ladies ;-)

Now I appreicate some of you may not have a black tie do this festive season but I'm sure most of us have some sort of occasion where it's nice to make that little bit more effort & dress up a little more than we normally would. As you'll see from the looks I've put together some ideas are for formal events with full length dresses but others are outfits that you could easily wear on the big day itself, not to mention your works Christmas do or a night out celebrating with the girls.

I mean who doesn't love a little bit so shimmer & sparkle - I for one certainly seem to be unlocking my inner magpie the older I get & the more sparkly the shoe the better. I particularly love the idea of the sequin skirt I've featured above teamed with a slighly loose fit knit & court shoes. Plus how stunning does that studded velvet skirt look?! Hubby I'm sorry but I just 'may' have to investigate that beauty further!

Of course you may be lucky enough to own a couple of faithful little black dresses that you can rely on for always fitting the occasion & making you feel good & if that's the case but you're worried friends will think you only own that one dress then perhaps think about investing in some new shoes or a statement clutch to change the look, there's some stunning heels & clutches around at the moment.

Or if you're looking to treat yourself but don't want to buy something that's only going to spend most of it's days hanging in your wardrobe then think about investing in separates, pieces that you can dress up or down. Such as leather leggings which look fab as shown above with a longline blazer & lace cami but can so easily be reworked for day with a chunky knit & trainers. The same with a maxi skirt - dress it up for a special occasion with an off the shoulder or silk crossover top then team with a biker jacket, breton & flats for the day. Heck if you're brave enough you could even throw on a chunky knit & trainers with a sequin skirt, which let's face it is always going to brighten up your day.
Now I mentioned earlier my love of sparkly shoes & these are so stunning I just couldn't resist picking them as one of my items to style & feature. I seem to spend most of my time in flats so a dressy pair that have sparkle but mean I'll still be able to walk in them come the end of the night are everything. Plus I'll also be able to get my wear out of them day to day. In my head I'm thinking they're ideal for casual occasions where you want to make a little bit of effort but don't want to be too dressed up as it's more of a laid back occasion such as how I've styled them below but equally they'd look stunning with some black cigarette pants, a simple lace trim cami & a tuxedo jacket. Plus on those dull January days we've got to look forward to, boyfriend jeans & an oversized chunky knit - just because they're sparkly & will make me smile :-)

The other item I've picked is this timeless silk shirt. A real wardrobe staple, that I already own similar to in black & white. This type of top for me is just perfect for dressing up or down & can so easily be transformed with the addition of a statement necklace. Something like this really will stand the test of time & be one of those tops you can reach for on most occasions where you don't know what to wear. I've styled it below to show you how I'm planning on wearing it over the festive season & I'm also wearing it today in a more dressed down capacity.
