Morning ladies it's that time of year again where wedding season is truly on us & if you're lucky enough to have been invited to a wedding or planning a day out at the races then it's time to start thinking about what we're going to wear.
I don't know about you but I love the opportunity to dress up so I'm delighted this year I've got a few occasions that call for something special & the excuse to drag out the gladrags. The first being ladies day, which you may recall I along with a group of friends celebrate by attending a local hotel that broadcasts the races & allows betting as well as laying on a fantastic lunch so we don't actually have the hassle of travelling to Ascot or the worry about the weather but get to experience all the fun bits :-) This year will be our 4th year & we're planning on celebrating it back where we started at our village club, so no mad transport needed (we've had a pink fire engine & the 'A' Team van in previous years) & instead we're in stumbling/crawling distance! But that doesn't mean we won't be dressing up to the nines. So for this month's post in collaboration with House of Fraser I thought we'd take a look at their occasion wear.
As you can see from the outfits I've put together I've chosen to focus on dresses as they're so simple & easy to wear & of course if you have a plain number, in particular in a neutral colour such as black or navy then with a change of accessories they can easily be worn for several occasions. Some dresses are even perfect for dressing for a black tie event as much as they are for a special day occasion.

I don't know about you but if there's an excuse for wearing a hat then I jump at the chance as it's rare to get the opportunity to pull out all the glamour stakes & I for one am going to seize every opportunity. After all life is too short & there are so many designs. Plus of course now fascinators or hats on bands are so popular it's even easier to find something to suit & they're so incredibly light & easy to wear.

Turning to the other accessories needed for such an occasion - shoes & bag, I always think you can't go wrong with either a simple black or navy shoe/sandal or if your outfit calls for it metallic be it gold or silver. With the added benefit that you should be able get lots of wear out of them for nights out, parties & of course Christmas celebrations. After all there's nothing worse than having gorgeous items just sitting in your wardrobe & no excuse to wear them.
Back to today & no excuse to roll out the glamour stakes but all this talk of dresses has made me drag out a winter sales buy that I've teamed with a new cross body bag.
