Morning ladies today I want to talk about something that seems to be getting more & more press over recent months & that's the dreaded menopause.  Now so far so good & I've not yet started the change over, although as time ticks on it's no doubt more a question of when.  But as someone who's always suffered with heavy periods & my monthly cycle I'm in two minds whether to dread or look forward to the change & of course depending on who you speak to you can get different accounts of how good or bad the process is.  So at the moment I'm choosing to see all the benefits & will deal with the downsides as & if they arise *touches wood*.

Of course it doesn't do any harm to be forewarned & armed with some essential basic knowledge/back up plan, so when Become got in touch with me to see if I'd be interested in working together not only was I intrigued by their range I also thought the brand would be of interest to any readers currently going through the change & could help make the changeover more comfortable as I know from various emails I've received from followers a lot of ladies can suffer with a decline in their confidence during this change over.

Set up two years ago Become is a women driven start up company that incorporates a Sri Lanken apparel, ethical & award winning manufacturer who specialise in next to skin clothing that employs over 70% women.  With passionate at the forefront of their minds Become is dedicated to bringing clothing solutions to women by women.  With their mission to design & create symptom led technology products to help women better manage the menopause, by providing stylish clothing for women that will assist in dealing with the unwanted symptoms of hot flushes.

I just love this short paragraph on their website, which for me sums up how I'm approaching the oncoming change & to be honest getting older in general.  For me life really did begin at 40 & the start of my blogging journey & I'm hoping with a positive outlook the menopause will be no different.

"The menopause is just the beginning of the new you & it will not hold you back.  We are creating products to handle the symptoms so you don't have to."

It certainly sounds good to me & I love their thinking.

So what makes their clothing so special?  Well they're made from a special cooling yarn which cools the body temperature, which together with moisture wicking materials will keep you dry & take away any sweat, alongside a patent-pending Anti-Flush Technology to regulate body temperature.  Together with odour & anti-microbial control to keep you fresh.

As you can see from the above pictures I've been sent their Tank Top in black, which is also available in biscuit, a great nude colour here & their pants, which again are also available in biscuit here.  I'm wearing a size small in both & would say they're true to size.

So what did I think of the items?  Well as soon as I put them on I was immediately struck by how lightweight & comfortable they both were to wear.  As well as the general smooth appearance.  In fact I'd go so far as to say they're the most comfortable pair of pants I've ever worn & you could easily forget you were wearing either!

As well as their practicality I also love the versatility of the pieces, as of course you could wear the tank top as a vest as underwear, which would be perfect for keeping your body at the right temperature all year round & I'm guessing even for those of us that aren't necessarily currently going through the menopause they make a great alternative to a thermal vest, which was been permanently glued to my body this past winter.  Plus of course you can wear the tank as a normal tee as I'm doing today.  Or alternatively the set would make a great alternative to nightwear for wearing to bed & helping in combating the night sweats.

In terms of style you'll see from the pictures the tank has a relatively high neckline which looks great when worn under a jacket & of course has been designed, like the high armholes to ensure the technology of the fabric is working where you need it most.  Similarly the same goes for the pants, which I would describe as a short style when on & cover your lower back & top of thigh.

Today I've teamed the tank with a simple maxi skirt & biker jacket combo but equally I'd happily wear the top with cigarette pants & a blazer for a smarter look, as well as jeans & an oversized cardigan for casual days.  Not to mention as another layer come the colder months.

So ladies has anyone got any experiences they want to share about the onset of menopause & how they found the process?  I'm  hoping that I'm not being naive in thinking that a positive outlook is the way to face it :-0  Perhaps you're suffering with or have suffered with hot flushes in the past & have found some other ways of helping alleviate the symptoms.  If so please share as it would be lovely to be able to help others currently suffering & if you are finding them difficult to cope with then definitely think about trying Become's range, which you can see in full here.  Plus if you do 'click the button' you can get 10% off your entire order with discount code JANE10 :-)

Enjoy your Sunday ladies & as always I'll see you in the morning.

  1. Hi Jane. A positive outlook certainly helps! I, personally, have had a terrible time both peri and post menopause and am under specialist care. It wasn't so much the physical symptoms (i.e. the night sweats and flushes) but the psychological ones which affected (and still do affect) me the most. The complete loss of confidence, low mood and self esteem turned me into someone I didn't recognise and the opposite of my former self! HRT has helped me enormously but I still have days where I don't want to face anyone. I am glad you are highlighting this issue in your blog. There should be a lot more awareness out there, if only to establish that not all women are the same and some of us are affected much more than others.

    1. Oh Lynne I'm so sorry to hear that you've really suffered with the changes the menopause can bring but hopefully now you're receiving specialist care & are on HRT you can get back to feeling like you again. Please know that you're not aone in the loss of self confidence I have received so many messages from ladies who have experienced the same. Have you thought of perhaps having a mini makeover - whether that be clothes, make up or hair to help? Sometimes the smallest of changes can help us rediscover who we are.
Keep smiling & take lots of care of yourself.
      Jane xx
