Travel Essentials + All Blue

phase eight odette cashmere aysmmetric poncho

Morning ladies with holiday season fast approaching (just under 2 weeks for us & counting!) I thought it might be of interest if I share my top ten travel essentials that I always ensure are packed in my hand luggage.

The first of which is a cashmere shawl that I can wrap round me on the plane.  As no matter how many layers I wear & the fact we turn our air conditioning off I'm always cold on those early morning flights.  Especially when sleep deprived from getting everything ready the night before & let's be honest the excitement of going away :-)

marks and spencer pure cashmere socks

Along the same lines & a definite essential if travelling in sandals are a pair of cashmere socks.  Perfect for helping you keep warm & also so much nicer than wearing your shoes whilst on the plane.

ray-ban unisex rb2132 black new wayfarer sunglasses

If travelling to warmer climates then of course you're going to need a pair of sunglasses, especially ideal for hiding those tired eyes if like us you catch an early morning flight.  I personally love the look of these new style Wayfarers & being black & a classic design they're never going to date.  Although should you ever tire of them they're actually unisex, so you can always pass them on to your other half ;-)

aspinal of london classic travel wallet

Another great travel essential is the travel wallet that's perfect for organising all your paperwork & holding everything from passports, to currency, to flight & hotel booking details.  Plus it's always easy to find so no panic routing around in your bag when you're at check-in.

sara miller gold coin purse

Keeping with the theme of a wallet & a small coin purse is also a great travel essential.  We use ours to keep all our foreign currency in.  Which not only has the benefit of keeping your currency separate from your cards & everyday money.  It's also the perfect size, as well as being nice & lightweight making it ideal for slipping into your beach bag & evening clutch.

Go travel supreme snoozer pillow

Depending on the time of day you're travelling & of course the length of your flight you might also find a travel pillow of use.  We bought the above ones before going to Dubai last Autumn & can personally vouch for their comfort & fold-ability.

marks and spencer 3 piece clear cosmetic bag set

Now I always carry my make up in hand luggage, so instead of having to transfer everything into those small plastic bags when going through security I use the smaller of the 3 bags above.  Then find the other two perfect for packing all the toiletries & suncream in, with the added bonus you don't have to route around to find everything.

marks and spencer stainless steel drinks bottle

You might recall I recently received this water bottle from Caudalie & having since used it non-stop I can vouch for how brilliant these bottles are.  Due to the hot weather I've only tried storing cold drinks & even in full main day sun for several hours the drink has remained as cold as when I filled the bottle up.  I'm planning on taking mine empty through security & then filling it up with a chilled bottle of water in duty free & then using it through the day once on holiday.  There's nothing worse than warm water when you're thirsty & lying in the sun is there.  Plus if you're a fan of Caudalie skincare, don't forget you can get a free bottle like mine when you buy 2 products from their Vinosource range (see here for all the details).

detailed wood handmade fan

Another item I now travel with in hand luggage & also pop into my clutch of an evening is a traditional handmade fan that's perfect for cooling you down when temperatures are hot & muggy.

hamleys playing cards

And finally I always pack a set of playing cards.  For us card games are a bit of a family tradition when we travel & just in case of any pesky delays they make a great distraction.

Moving onto today's outfit & it's all about that H&M skirt, which today I'm styling with a favourite buy from last summer.

So ladies how many of you are now on the countdown to your summer holidays?  Do you have some 'must haves' that you always pack in hand luggage when travelling?  If so I'd love to hear if there's anything I haven't featured that you always pack in your carry on luggage.

Enjoy your day & as always I'll see you in the morning.
